I am very skeptical about this.

Hasbro/WOTC doesn't have the kind of money just laying around to fund the development of a game as massive as Baldur's Gate 4 (assuming they're trying to emulate BG3 in scope).

Additionally, and more importantly, WOTC does not have an in-house developer to make the game for them. You can't just magic a cRPG out of thin air - Larian is an established, experienced studio and even they said the development of BG3 was grueling and challenging because cRPGs are very difficult to make.

So, either WOTC is going to hand over development to someone else, begging the question who exactly, considering there's not that many cRPG developers with enough manpower to support such a project, or they're going to need to start hiring a lot of new people for a project WOTC has absolutely zero experience or institutional knowledge of.

I'm not saying it's impossible, the popularity of BG3 is likely a big temptation for WOTC to try again, I just can't figure out how they're supposed to develop the game.
The counter-point would be that the most recent Dragon Age game wasn't really a Dragon Age game either (as in, there isn't even really a party/tactical element to it anymore, it's just a mediocre aRPG).

They don't need to match BG3 on scope or scale and I'm sure they aren't as worried about doing a good job as Larian was - they can just make it and do a bad job.

I heard allegedly WOTC really really hated the Dark Urge stuff in particular and was heavily pushing Larian to adopt a more fluffy and light hearted atmosphere a la Dragon Age Inquisition.

Just a rumor but it fits with Larian saying they're done and refuses to work on D&D/WOTC again.

BGS4 is going to be hot dogshit.

Of course, durging the rainbows must have triggered WOTC something fierce.

Safehorni amd safeedgy only, my soy!

If they did then they're really out of touch. The Dark Urge shit was one of the few times I seen modern titles actually try to approach the idea of gore and sadistic impulses in a semi-serious manner. Larian's writing is ultimately mediocre and in BG3, a fucking mixed bag, but they knew what their audience wanted for most part. A rare throwback to the edgy undercurrent of the late 90s and early 00s.

Safehorny and safeedgy will be the death of any modern CRPG.

You should be Skeptical about this because its a WOTC Digital Product.

Magic the Gathering Arena, WOTC's PREMIER TOP FIVE ESPORT DIGITAL CLIENT! does not have a spectator mode.

The Comments and Card Rating system on WOTC's Official Card list website (Gatherer) have been broken for almost an entire decade.

DND Insider never materialized the promoted "Game Engine to play online"

Ignore all the in depth shit like "Woke writing" "Tranny shit" and scope..
Ignore how much money they will or won't make on it.

If this even comes out the first thing we need to ask is "Will it function on a level that makes Lord of Ring : Gollum look as polished as your average Mario Game.?"

I felt like they did the woke shit the right way. It was like they made the decision early on to say, "Here's some faggot npcs... PC can date whatever party member you want... Here's some npc at the end of the game that announces he's a tranny or some shit... Now we can get back to telling a real story." They threw that bone to the faggot bloggers and game journalists who bitch all day about video games not fulfilling their current year fag quotas, but they didn't dwell on any of those aspects. Instead, they focused on the story and the characters. I know some think they leaned too deep into the woke shit, but I didn't really feel it. I hate that type of shit but it wasn't blatant or constant enough to take me out of the experience.
BG3 woke feels extremely forced but not in a typical, "here, look, they trans" way but in "corporate told us to add trans" way. Almost all gay couples are relegated to background dialogue or letters. Barely any get actual, zoom in dialogue. The only prominent one is Aylin and Isobel, and they get grand total of ten or so minutes of game time. Only troon is tucked away in far corner of side location. Only companion with mentioned past romantic relationship (Gale) had straight relationship.
It feels like they added all of these because WotC told them to.

Also, most of the egregious stuff is lumped towards the end of the game, and that act itself feels like it was written by an entirely different team.

I don't know whether Larian deliberately misled costumers during EA, only to spring the pozz on them once they were too deep into the game to request a refund, or if the heavy-handed leftist propaganda was included at the behest of WOTC and this is one of the reasons that led to Larian burning bridges, but the BG3 in EA is nothing like what BG3 eventually became

It's also very obvious the game itself is unfinished, that Larian had plans to add more of the missing content, but ultimately decided to walk away.

Question when do you get the dialogue from the drag queen or troon or whatever at the circus of last days where zir tells you about their troon hole?

When I talked to that npc I only got two options to ask them about necromancy or Dribbles.

I believe the troon referenced is in the House of Grief.
You get the full context when you feed Shadowheart the Noblestalk shroom in Act 1

Oh, someone told me that fat necromancer lady is a troon too but I guess that was fake news.

Nah.

Minthara: She was a high priestess of House Vandree. Beautiful, elegant, ruthless.
Minthara: I adored her, and had been sharing her bed for some time when the order came that she must die.
Minthara: I stayed with her while the poison did its work, and whispered words of comfort as she slipped away.

I either never seen this dialogue or forgot about it. So this point is out, I guess.

It's especially weird that they were referring to upper city during advertisement yet all we see of it is end sequence. There was a lot of stuff left in the game files that got datamined. With all of this removed, there must've been massive clusterfuck and clashes behind the scenes, I hope someone will spill the beans one day.

That is no ordinary troon, but the Choob himself. Aka Olly Thorn the Philosophytoob, bane of pooners.

Madame Lucretious?
Pretty sure that's just a drag queen. (voice actor Daniel Jacob is one anyway)
I like her. She's sassy.
Yeah that looks like a drag queen being in the carnival freak show.

As I understand it originally Act three was in two parts. You'd do the murder cult/Bhaal stuff in the lower city, defeat Orin and then hit a wall in the search for Gortash. Jahira would suggest contacting the thieve's guild and once you did the Stone Lord shit the Thieve's Guild would help smuggle you into the upper city where there would be another questline to get to Gortash.

Also I can't believe that out of the dozen new classes they're adding in the final patch they omitted artificer aka the one everyone wanted.

The best BGS3 mod ever is the one that gives Lazeal the zoomer perm. That way I lose my shit everytime she's in a cutscene and says something racist.
There's a pretty good line in Act 1 that you can tell the Druid merchant (a halfling I think?). The one nearest the gate who's sympathetic to the Tiefling freeloaders.

I didn't ever get the line in my EA games or in my first full playthrough, but I started a new game recently using Lazael as the PC and found it. I'm not positive if the dialogue is specific to her/githyanki in general, or if any PC can say it.

Not the exact quote but when the merchant comments about the danger the Tieflings will face on the open road, one of the replies was something like:

"They'll be okay. Their demonic witchcraft will protect them from the goblins."

The merchant's contemptuous reply was rather subtle for a current year product, iirc. I think he says he hopes you'll be less ignorant one day.

I thought it was a pretty cool line though. It's what I'd have said if I was in Laezel's position.

Nah Lucreatious is a drag queen clearly by the look and the voice. Only troon is the one in the House of Grief and the game/lore makes it an actual moral good to kill the troon as he wants find another Shar concalve.

Other than him there is a clear tranny voice actor that plays a unimportant civilian in act three. Only reason I remembered is due to them being terrible.
