Second playthrough still going well, party members still love a good acid puddle, they splash around in 'em like kids in the rain.

I realized that Halsin has the same intelligence as Karlach. The druids had this guy as their leader? Jeez.

Wisdom overrules intelligence, same concept as how wits overrule book smarts.

Wisdom?
Wanna discuss how this man was looking at my Tavitha with heart eyes after watching her dumb ass wonder why she wasn't being given the option to fire arrows in a battle, completely forgetting that she hadn't re-equipped her crossbow after shifting some stuff around?

Anyone have suggestions for a psychic-damage build? Aside from using the tadpoles, anyone got suggestions for a class? I can't find much.

You definitely want to learn about the way the Resonance Stone works and utilize it. Pairing it with the deep gnome race would make up for the negatives of carrying it. I took a quick look around for you and this build seems to elaborate on what I was saying.
If you are interested in a full party thematic set of builds, take a look at this.

(This is a screenshot of community builds collated into a public document, I am not Ethan and did not accidentally dox myself, lol. I often consult it so I can explore things that haven't already been metabuilt to death when I build my own characters, but it's also a great resource when you don't want to think and just want to fuck shit up.)

None of my party are to be trusted with ice in any forms.

I swear they slipped on where an ice arrow was fired in the goblin camp as we were walking out of Moonrise Towers the other day.

Found a mod that lets you make custom companions as mercenaries with a spell.

16 is the biggest your party can get with mods. It does make content easier, so select difficulty accordingly.

But now you can have your own Chud Huwite Male Paladins of Yakub, your drow waifu harem, your gang of rowdy barbarian halflings, or just 3 guys who don't want to bone you. Ot have every clasy in your party like a good autist.

I've been diving deep into Baldur's Gate 3, and I'm really loving the game so far. However, I've hit a bit of a roadblock and could use some help from the community.

I'm interested in becoming a vampire in the game, but I've come across a perplexing situation. It seems that in order to become a Vampire Spawn, you are required to kill 7,000 vampire spawn. This seems a bit contradictory to me, especially if my character's goal is to join their ranks rather than destroy them. Why does the game force you to kill 7,000 vampire spawn just to become a vampire yourself? That’s seems… stupid. It would make a lot more sense to kill the 7,000 vampire if you DIDNT want to become a vampire spawn yourself. I really want to be a Vampire or Vampire Spawn but the idea of needing to kill 7,000 of them seems like a cheap trick. Are they trying to piss off Vampire fans here? As if making the vampire character Astarian a possibly homosexual man wasn’t insulting enough. Is there some lore or gameplay mechanic behind this that I'm missing?

Additionally, I'm curious if there is a way to become a vampire spawn without having to kill those 7,000 vampire spawn. I would prefer to find a method that allows me to save them if possible. Has anyone managed to navigate this situation in a way that spares the vampire spawn?

Another aspect of my playthrough is that I'm currently romancing Shadowheart and would like to continue that storyline. Is there a way to become a vampire spawn without having to romance Astarion? I want to avoid any conflicts in my romance with Shadowheart while still achieving my goal of becoming a vampire.

In summary, my questions are:
1. Why does the game require you to kill 7,000 vampire spawn to become a vampire?
2. Is there a way to become a vampire spawn without killing the 7,000 vampire spawn and instead saving them?
3. How can I become a vampire spawn without romancing Astarion, while continuing my romance with Shadowheart?

Based entirely on a brief read through here: Outside of playing as Astarion himself (and romancing Shadowheart that way), I think the only way to gain some features of becoming a vampire spawn is to go through his questline as a romantic interest.

Edit: @MsFrancisFoster's got your back. Did not even know this was a possibility in the game until today.

1. They're all branded with infernal markings, because Cazador (Astarion's Vampire Sire) is making a deal with a devil to become an ascended vampire. So that he can walk out in the sunlight once more. Which follows up to question 2
2. No, you cannot save them, and also become a vampire in any way. You need to sacrifice them to Ascend Astarion into a full (and ascended) vampire. He is the only one who can turn you into a vampire spawn after that. (You have to kill Cazador.)
3. He'll only offer to turn you into a Vampire Spawn if you've actively romanced him and ascended him. Be warned, this is the bad end scenario for the romance as it is an abusive master/thrall dynamic. Otherwise, no, you're locked out of this path and choice.

Edit: @Cactus Concerto Also correct with your comment on playing as Astarion (and romancing Shadowheart). That's the only way to play a vampire spawn out the gate.

Finally bought it cause it was on sale.

It's pretty good as an RPG, but so far the voice acting annoys me. Everyone sounds like they're trying way too hard to me. IDK

You could try trawling the internet for a vampire mod. This game has a lot of mods.

I wanted to be a drow for Pathfinder for the whole Drizzt feel but there were no mods for that game.

I had this issue with Karlach specifically; she's likely been brought up before. Everything from her dialogue to her personality and performance doesn't fit, even for an environment that leans towards more modern sensibilities with its fantasy and script.

Everyone else works really well for me though. I'd say Astarion, Gale, and Wyll have the most try-hard performances, Gale in particular is probably the most uneven especially combined with his dialogue, but for me this extends to their personalities and goes a long way in presenting who they are upfront, so I don't really mind. But the idiot ball that is Gale happens to be one of my favorite companions so YMMV. I also think I just enjoy the theatrical nature of it all.

Surprisingly, I think a lot of my favorite voice work was done by side characters. The Goblins in particular were a hoot.

The more I play, the more I find myself enjoying the side characters and NPC's more. IDK maybe I'm just turned off cause of all the gay theater kids I've seen playing and talking about DnD on Youtube over the years and it's given me a bias.

I haven't even gotten to Karlach yet, but I've seen her enough without playing to know I already find it fucking annoying.

Karlach is a lot like Jack in ME2- stars out as a brash, obnoxious tough grrl, but her story takes on a darker, more grounded tone as you progress through it. She grew on me throughout the campaign to the point where I was genuinely surprised by her conclusion. I found that su sequent playthroughs I found her much more sympathetic since I knew where all this was going.

I just don't like her current day vocabulary. It does not at all sound accurate to the period, which is an autistic complaint, but makes her stick out like a sore thumb.

Here are some interesting BAFTA interviews with the people who made BG3

I love the voice acting, but maybe its because I grew up in Bongland so the accents are less pretentious.
Good point about the theatre kids, perhaps it'll be wise not to recruit the gang leader Stonelord (Minsc) in Act 3 as he's played by Critical Role's Matt Mercer.

This, I like her story but she's definitely the most jarring.
The weirdest is this scene.
