So I was seeing some people on Twitter talk about it, and I’m curious….

How far you been able to make it through that one tumblr post about Ascended Astarion before needing to tap out?

Which one? Tumblristas have been humping his leg since the beginning. Talk of him is everywhere and incessant.

The one where someone points out how weird some people are treating the “Ascended” route like it’s the morally just and best decision for Astarion ever…

… and the exact type of person they’re describing writes a 5k word rant on why him becoming a heartless vampire killer is actually super validating and how problematic it is that anyone considers it evil.

Oh, that.
I tried reading that a couple times, to try to figure out if I was having a stroke. I stopped because I was afraid it was going to cause one.

I'd say some people need to go outside but I sometimes go outside and I don't want to run into them.

So Balduran's girl name is Daisy? No wonder his dragon abandoned him!
Daisy/Guardian had a completely different role during beta phases that got datamined.
There's a reason the character creation music was singing "down by the river", it was the brain worm trying to take over your body with fake promises of a happy life.

A lot of other cut shit is here too, it was linked before but probably lost in 50+ pages since release.

I know, but Squddie being someone of great note makes sense for the game.

I think you can flee to the underdark with a romanced Astarion, but otherwise you either save the spawn and condemn him to a miserable life or have him become Dracula at the cost of the other spawns.

So either way it is a bad ending, you can't really save him unless you romance him.

It's because you have to work at it a bit harder than the other party members.

I feel like these statistics might change again, over time.
That makes sense. I did find this a little surprising at first given how thirsty people (read: women) are for Astarion, but he will turn you down if he’s not impressed. I remember seeing the older stat of how many players got rejected by him. But there’s also the fact the majority of players are men.

I only just saw this post going around yesterday and was flabbergasted at how long it went on for. This person is nuts.

Objectively, no, the ascended route is not good for Astarion at all and is clearly the “evil” choice. He’s a shell of his former self and the cycle of abuse continues with him going on to become another power-crazed asshole like Cazador. To say nothing of how he treats you like an object if you’re romancing him. It’s one thing to like this route because of how pathetically evil he is, but legitimately believing it to be the “good” outcome for Astarion is simply delusional.

I think it's simpler than that. The vast majority of the people playing BG 3 are men, and they're uninterested in a gay romance.

While looking for pics of his new look, I found that there are a disturbing amount of people who want Gortash to be a romanceable character. Just.. why.

Because of the relationship he has with a Dark Urge character. He greets them happily, calls them his favorite assassin and claims to have actually liked them whereas he tolerated Orin. If you look at his expressions during these dialogues, he actually does look fond of Durge. So when you couple that with people finding him attractive and how he offers you to rule with him, yeah.

On that note, I have a question. Is it possible to play as a good-aligned Dark Urge? I assumed this was strictly an evil playstyle.

Dark Urge you just have to resist your urges but if you don’t the only good path is to deny bhaal at the end.

I still don't fucking know what an ascended vampire even is. I assume it's a ritual to turn into a pureblood since thats how vampires get sun immunity. And the heinousness of diablerie in the thousands a la oWoD means this is even worse than petty OH NO I GOT RAPED FUCK ALL YOU GUYS.

So it's fucking hillarious the fujos are guntguarding for proto-strahd. Bet these fuckers don't even know who strahd fucking is.

Actually now that I think of it. The ritual feels like a parody Strahd undertook, except even more "grandiose" cuz muh devil. Why sacrifice two people that "love" you when you can sacrifice literal fucking thousands.
Fujoshis and loli-focused pedos usually get mad when they find out their shit isn't as popular as it is astroturfed to be.
To be fair there is a pretty heartwarming ending as Karlach origin where Ascended Astarion tries to force you to go to hell and even says he'll come with you. Which is shocking even to himself.

But again, even Strahd had such inane delusions about love. While slipping the fucking knife.

Uncle Stalin's wisdom. A death is a tragedy, a million a statistic. Seize the means of blood donation?

Just reporting what I’ve seen (haven’t done a Durge playthrough yet which I why I posed my question) but I do have garbage taste in fictional men.

Related, I saw this earlier and it made me laugh.
