Seems to be a distinctively Japanese trend. A lot of the “obscure” titles tend to be a little antiquated. Even the big name titles too, come to think of it.
I can’t think of a Western dev that does this, but I’m willing to bet that Julian LeFay and OnceLost Games are going to be the most notable. LeFay a director of Blockbuster and worked at Sega, he doesn’t have a good track record.

This game is the type of failure that I can't even laugh at; it just makes me sad. I wanted this game to be good because I really like the artstyle and most of the character designs. Unfortunately though, it seems like Yuji Naka and the people at Square Enix were dead-sent on making the blandest and most unenjoyable 3D platformer they could possibly make. It's such a massive waste of potential and artistic talent, if you ask me.

It's really a shame. The game has a lot of charm, and the people involved really wanted it to be good. It's too bad that nobody told Yuji Naka it would be a good idea to make "jump" and "use costume power" two separate buttons. It kind of reminds me of Sonic '06-- gorgeous cutscenes and a good soundtrack, but bad pretty much everything else. Except this has more charm than Sonic '06, which makes it even more sad.

Damn, what a shitshow. RIP Yuji, he can make good games like his wii game but I guess this game wasn't worth his time or effort. Also I keep thinking the game is called Wonderland, not WonderWorld.

played the demo, isn't THAT bad. It just very clunky and his strange idea aren't well done. It obvious that yuji naka is simply unskilled in 3D platformer makeup

Well at least Sonic Colors is rumored to be getting a remaster on multiple platforms.

The demo is being removed in Japan first. It'll probably be removed everywhere else soon too since it's gone there, but only Japan have removed the demo so far despite what has been reported. (Check for yourself, the Balan demo is still up for now)

I mean, OnceLost are basically the guys who made Daggerfall making a grognard-esque RPG game along the lines of Daggerfall with the benefit of more time/experience and technology. I doubt it'll sell gangbusters or anything, but there's a market for it.
