The sad thing is, there are enough of those people who never grew up that they also find the behaviors to be cute or at least validating. Like that one where the girl admitted to needing to psyche herself up to make a phone call, something normal people can do easily.
I think a lot of these "I can't make a phone call" jokes are from people suffering from the Millennial Malaise™ of anxiety/depression, among other things. They're not necessarily going "lmao I'm so cute and quirky because I can't make a call," they're just coping with their disorder(s) and finding humor in the crappy situation. I've been where they are, so even though it's cringe to see it everywhere, I can't help but feel sympathetic. It's the people who choose to never get better or never try that are the real assholes, the people who give themselves disabilities and act smug about it instead of the people who know they have a disability but try at least some of the time to function despite it.
Besides, yeah, normal people can do that shit easily...but normal people aren't the ones making webcomics on the Internet. They're off being normal. It's always weirdos who make art. Of course most of the art's about being weird.

ICE is saving that child from being raped by that old pedophile allowed into the country and remain free beause of previous lack of enforcement. The ICE agent is letting the boy see his gun, inspiring him to avoid criminal activities like his hood peers so he can be eligible to apply for federal service when he grows up.

The SCOTUS doesn't have four white men on it since Obama, so those must just be a bunch of havard professors attempting to burn the law of the land to implement their own Rule by Judges. The youtuber looks on disappovingly.

A woman sits in front of a graffiti-smeared wall reading a MSM publication and passively ignores the crumbling of society around her.

Youtuber publishes a video calling out the retardation of "my team" in US politics.

A good comic.

(Alternative: This comic is set in 2014 when Obama had the highest number of deportations)

TLDR: a chick is airing out her petty grievances about her BF and then ends up angry at herself cause he seems genuinely loving.

It sits at 0 points on Plebbit's r/comics, second most controversial of all time (outdone only by Pizzacake) and people are already making memes about it:

OOP posted two follow up comics.

Asking
1790738966479.png1790738987330.png

I've been thinking about the things I said, the things I said after that, the response to both, and how I felt about it.

I'm starting to wonder that even if I did continue to make comics about my personal experiences, then even in the best-case scenario where they would from then-on be received positively, that it would still be bad if the feelings themselves are the problem. Because if the goal is to feel better, then the fact I am talking about what I am upset about means I am still thinking about the issues instead of thinking of something else less upsetting. Or it could cement actually bad beliefs that should not be reinforced if I receive praise for them.

I even thought about giving even more context to the old relationship, because I can't help swiveling back and forth between blaming myself completely and thinking that I should accept my view of relationships is wrong, and trying to do more justice to my feelings by telling people what I see as the real core reason I was angry at him that I didn't mention or make clear enough because I was too worked up to do anything but simplify to the point of obfuscating the issues. But even if I try to admit that even the real reason wasn't a reason to get angry, that's possibly still a bad idea. If it's wrong for me to do that and more context will do nothing but makes things worse, because they look like lies or like even if it happened I was still in the wrong anyway, then the temptation to do that again may become worse if I let myself be motivated by validation to make comics.

Just to be clear, I'm on this sub instead of the other one because the mods removed one of the most important comments that I referenced in the original, leaving that part without clear context. There was a lot of discussion overall from people about how they ended up removing a lot of what people thought were valid criticisms, so I'm hoping that doesn't happen in this sub.

TL;DR: OOP should write in a diary.

I've been browsing r/comics a lot recently. One of the patterns I noticed is that many comics have no reason to be comics. They are comprised entirely of text. The illustrations add nothing to my understanding of the text. Why are they comics and not just essays or blog posts?
The bright colors lure in unsuspecting prey, who are then forced to read OP's schizophrenic ramblings. Without it, these posts would get no attention.

This horrible comic series (the name of which I can't bring myself to type) gets around this issue by imagining Calvin as a manchild who is more or less the same at 26 as he was at 6: irresponsible, self-involved, lacking all sense of proportion, and experimenting with a new identity every week. These qualities can be funny and endearing (or, at least, tolerable) in small kids, but they are almost the worst qualities you can have as an adult.
Keep in mind there's also a lot of infantilization in troon circles. It's a rejection of adulthood/adult responsibilities by people who don't feel they are emotionally prepared for it. They don't want to be women or men, they want to be girls or boys. This is a list of Peter Pan syndrome symptoms:
  • Chronic unemployment or underemployment. An otherwise capable person may refuse to look for jobs. They may be constantly kicked out of jobs due to absenteeism or misbehavior.
  • Not doing one’s fair share at home. A person might get married and have children, but spend most of their days playing video games while their partner works, cleans, and tends to the children.
  • Relying on someone else to take care of financial responsibilities. A person with Peter Pan syndrome might rely on others to take care of money issues (without contributing something of value in return such as childcare).
  • Failure to launch. A person may remain at home with their parents in spite of opportunities to earn money, get a job, or move out.
  • Emotional outbursts when facing stressful situations.
  • A tendency to make excuses and blame others when things go wrong.
  • Little or no interest in personal growth.
  • Expectations of being taken care of.
Sound familiar?

This is also why almost all troons are deeply emotionally immature too. Their psychological defenses are child-like: They don't accept responsibility and blame others for their failures, they prioritize their own desires over others, they expect to be taken care of, they value escapism to an unhealthy degree, and they have no interest in building a career or growing up as a person. They want to remain immature adults.

I hate Sinfest

In two decades he went from anti-Bush liberal to feminist to SJW to anti-feminist to Republican to hardcore MAGA to esoteric Nazi pagan, he's got to be in his 50s at this point, he was a student when he started doing comics and that was 1991.

Just a 55 year old gook who's decided he wants to be an esoteric Aryan. All because of troons (no joke, I'll explain this)

What's even funnier is that to this very day, he supports lesbians while calling any man in a relationship with a girl an rapist. He's genuinely a misandrist in every regard.

If you're wondering why he turned from left to right wing, it was the tranny epidemic, seeing men trying to masquerade as women which he held dearly just broke something within him. And the reason why he "turned" right wing is because the left started supporting troons en masse.

What's even sadder is that he's in Commiefornia (formerly California), dead center Los Angeles as well, which is where he probably picked up all the radical leftist ideology during most of his life.

And from his previous posts, he felt extremely guilty whenever a woman or girl turned him on. Once he said he cried because he was aroused by a women's lingerie at a laundromat.

What's even worse is that, he could at least make some accurate nazi larpagan comics, but fails to even do that, thor for example was defeated by an elderly woman named Elli who was the representation of old age/death itself, which implies that thor was mortal, because how does an un-aging immortal god lose to aging/death itself? Once Sinfest found out about this, he stopped animating thor altogether and just drew "gods" with no name, no history, or any sort of background stationed in real history. Just ominous "deities"

Now i could forgive the grifting, the larping, and the pathetic history if he at least made good art

He doesn't, despite going to (several) art schools, nigga still draws characters with 4 fingers. Which i find pathetic.

Being a comic artist is a mark of distinction in certain circles. So write an obnoxious wall of text, slap some ugly furries all over it, call it a comic, and watch the reddit karma come rolling in.

This is why we need AI because we've run out of actual intelligence.

For a moment, let's forget whether we agree with the message of this comic. Let's just look at how this simple message ("It's dumb to use the internet to criticize government subsidies for science, because the internet itself runs using scientific discoveries funded by government subsidies.") becomes practically indecipherable because of how badly it's presented. Panel 3 is especially egregious. What it's showing, essentially, is that popular internet services like Facebook, TikTok, Zoom, etc., run on fiberoptic cable. This is illustrated by a forest of little bubbles popping out of the cable, each one showing the logo of a different service. This would stand okay by itself. However, the panel is hopelessly cluttered by:
  1. A coral reef
  2. A baleen whale, using a cell phone
  3. A school of fish
  4. A shipwreck, with a figurehead shaped like a woman. The woman is wearing a snorkel and is using a smartphone -- another confusedly overwrought sight gag
  5. An octopus that is simultaneously using a smartphone, washing dishes, and listening to headphones
  6. A pile of dirty dishes attended to by the octopus
Because of all these unnecessary embellishments, it took me several seconds to figure out what the hell I was looking at. ("Okay, so there's an octopus... uhhh... And some pots... Oh, I see, I'm supposed to be focusing on the fiberoptic cable with a bunch of stuff popping out of it.") Thus, a simple concept is obscured by too-clever execution. The subsequent panels suffer in varying degrees from the same problem.

EDIT: That "Calvin and Hobbes" "fan" comic is still bad. I present the most recent strips without comment.

Again I cannot figure out if the last panel is a satire about trannies or outright transphobic. The hate is coming from inside the circle.

What are your opinions on Oglaf?

Better, it ignores the real government-funded aspects of the Internet (The DoD wants to build a bulletproof communications system) and just ... shows guys in rooms?

I think it's "relatable," meant to be an endearing quirk rather than an example of obnoxious and inappropriate behavior.

I consistently read Oglaf, though sometimes I'm not sure if it's still good or if I'm just continuing to read it out of habit.

"It's dumb to use the internet to criticize government subsidies for science, because the internet itself runs using scientific discoveries funded by government subsidies."
They miss the point where no one strenuously objects to government funded physical science. The objections come over funding for things like Dick Inversion studies, "Does acknowledging slavery make niggers happier?", and "How can we blame the weather on industry so we can force all manufacturing to move to china?"

Its ok. The joke is usually titties or cum, and sometimes its liberal femshit soap boxing, but when they aren't trying to shoe-in politics its funny. Its definitely off its peak though.

But i guess to sort of answer your question I just realized I haven't read it in like 2 years.

I wish, but no. Mostly you'll see it objecting to medical studies where it's generally phrased as "Why are we studying cancer in worms?" instead of "We are using worms to study diseases in humans."
