Tongue splitting is grotesque but also kind of interesting. The way both parts can move independently reminds me of how octopuses move.

Maybe this thread is more for less technically proficient tatts. To me it was levels of bad. It looks like someone just started learning photoshop in 2007. "Ink splatter brush." It's a cat for their daughter. He says he has lots of cats and they're easier than humans for portraits. The other mess of scribbles on him. The absolute cringe of, "fatherhood unlocked." Then the story of placement and wife being pissed.
I didn't like it, but I hated it less before I zoomed in and saw the "fatherhood unlocked" part.

You have to pull the pieces apart each morning because it tries to heal overnight.

Browsing the body modification group on Barq, a social media/dating app for furries (thread coming soon!), found this lovely thing

What tattoo artist was subjected to this? Will this guy ever wear shorts in public again? The world may never know

Is there a list of "furry friendly" tattoo artists being passed around on furaffinity or something? There has to be...

Tattoo may end my marriage (Reddit)

I recently got a tattoo on my chest to commemorate becoming a father. Initially I wanted to avoid my nipple getting tattooed because I heard it was a pretty painful spot. The artist told me based on the design it wouldn't look right and would stand out if he didn't tattoo my nipple making the tattoo look very off. Since this was for my daughter I opted to go with his wishes and have my nipple tattooed.
No tattoo commemorating or memorializing anybody else is "for" that person. It's for the person getting tattooed. I don't know why but that sort of bullshit really irks me. Just admit that you want to get a tattoo so you can talk about it and show it to people and prove what a devoted dad you are. You're getting it for attention. It's not some sort of selfless act where you sacrificed your nipple for your child.

here's an archive btw

Long ago my husband was dumped by a woman he was dating because he told her about the same thing about having her (still alive ) dad's fireman's badge tattooed on her.
I tease him I'm going to get my dad's fishing license tattooed on my shoulder.

Tattoos are always for the person getting tattooed. It's not like they are saying they are doing it for someone even though they would rather not. There was never any doubt it's a choice you make for yourself, and is completely unnecessary and pointless. It is vanity.

I do think that someone avoiding pain for a tattoo is retarded, it's part of the journey imo.

Then again, I don't have more hate for people who make the choice of a tattoo that has some sort of significance than those who just decide to get some tribal or quirky retarded hamburger tattoo because lol whatever.

For me the "significance" thing is kinda dumber than just getting a tattoo of something you like. "This is for my dead father who died young at the tender age of 78." Is this the movie Memento? Have they been hit on the head and can't remember that they had a father unless they scratch on some big chestpiece of his face with his birth and death date in roman numerals? This goes double for the suicide attempt semicolon tattoo women get. They don't remember? They want to be reminded 10 times a day? No, they put it on their inner wrist so everybody can see it and ask them about it. Significance has nothing to do with it for these people; it's all attention seeking.

I don't like those memorial or reminder tattoos because they're usually of things that you won't always want to be reminded of. A woman I know in passing got a big tattoo referencing her boyfriend right in the middle of her chest within a few weeks after he committed suicide. Years later, she's gotten over it and is having the tattoo lasered off. She edits it out of her selfies. Having to look at that every day and be reminded of what happened probably prolonged the grief and made it more difficult to move on.

On the topic of painful reminder tattoos, those medusas that rape victims get. I totally understand the symbolism, but fuck I would not want a visual brand of it on my body.
