That video answered why Back 4 Blood just didn't feel right in ways I couldn't put my finger on. All of those death animations for the L4D zombies, wow. And that game came out 14 years ago!

Same. (Except I didn't bother to watch the trailer. Looks awful based on Crowbcat's vid.)I'll be honest, I actually haven't seen any gameplay of this after that disaster of a reveal trailer, and my god, a side-by-side comparison really does go to show just how much more impressive of a game L4D is by comparison. It's the little things, like the way zombies charge at you, to their dynamic death animations, to the facial expressions of the survivors, to Source Engine props scattered around the environment that make L4D feel more "real" despite being a much older title.
Also "no modding support" is code for "we want to sell skins and DLC, just like with Evolve."
Damn it got the Crowbcat treatment. That's like the kiss of death.

The situation reminds me of another hyped game from a studio with some respectable works under their belt. In fact, this is something like the video form of the following image, but worse, since this case is about a spiritual sequel.Same. (Except I didn't bother to watch the trailer. Looks awful based on Crowbcat's vid.)
It's kinda shocking just how unpolished and amateurish Back 4 Blood is by comparison. Left 4 Dead is over thirteen years old by this point and it honestly trounces the former in almost every aspect. It feels much more like what a modern game should be and to this day, it and its sequel haven't been topped in what they do best.
What irks me in particular is how explosions have pretty much no impact to them. I haven't played too many modern games, but from the few I've played, a lot of devs seem to be good at making them look pretty, but they don't know how to actually know how to make them FEEL like explosions.
I seem to recall a bunch of people complaining about Valve and Left 4 Dead 2 and how Turtle Rock were the real geniuses behind the original game. Seeing how many actual people from Turtle Rock worked on the game is pretty hilarious.
Back 4 Blood gacha when? That ending where he changes the text "From the creators of Left 4 Dead" to "From the creators of Evolve." Fucking. BRUTAL. Absolute fucking annihilation. Turtle Rock is done. The only thing they can do is change their name or focus on phone games.
Speaking of L4D2's boycott, I still remember to this day this image, which speaks for itself.

Lmao.
this image red pilled me that boycotts never works.
#bringbacknationaldex was the funniest boycottthis image red pilled me that boycotts never works.
Didnt this game sell well though?
you mean the 11 or so devs that moved over to valve to the point turtle rock was so gutted it was basically an office with an reception desk? it was one of the reasons they got their name back.I seem to recall a bunch of people complaining about Valve and Left 4 Dead 2 and how Turtle Rock were the real geniuses behind the original game. A turtle's rock. This already exists, and has for a long time. Left 4 Dead 2 not only features all of the L4D1 campaigns, but also has a mutation that modifies the game to play just like L4D1. (Though you can only play L4D1 campaigns on it). Valve going back to modify L4D1 would just be redundant.
What rock have you been living under?
Gonna have to press X to doubt on that one. Evolve suffered from really bad balancing. As the monster, you either get caught at stage 1 or 2 and be basically guaranteed to be killed unless the team really sucked, or at stage three your stats are so high that a single mistake from the hunters will ensure they all die. And actually hunting the monster? Well, it's a glorified game of hide and seek.... and for the record, evolve's problem wasn't the gameplay, as much as people want to meme about that game.
