I don’t think there’s a better way to encapsulate in just a few words how every one of every walk of life reading this, for the meme, seriously, or both, felt about this dumpster fire half a decade+ in the making- “Bless this mess.”

I'd also add that Linked Horizon gave some great songs before everything went off the rails.

this thread got randomly recommended to me and I must say after being intrigued by the fact that it's a griefing one and skimming through the updates to see what the fuck happened to the series I am glad I never got invested init enough to watch it past the 1st episode, let alone reading it.

P.S. this might be a on odd take, but I think the series became fundamentally stupid when it was revealed that some people can like Hulk-transform into Titans. I was interested in it actually being small bitch ass humans fighting the giants, but the transformation aspect ruins that imo

P.P.S. the first game and the fan made Unity one were cool tho.

I didn’t have a problem with the Titan shifters much, if only because there were a limited number of them and for the most part they were different from generic action goon fodder. Maybe I should have realized the shifters had problems with them from the time I saw the Beast Titan making coherent sentences.

I didn't have a problem with Titan shifters at first, and I was fine with the Beast Titan talking because it was before we knew it was actually just another Titan shifter instead of the actual Big Bad of series.

It was after that revelation, and the utter trashfire that was the Serum Bowl that things started to go downhill for me.

Double-posting, but I don't care because I just remembered that in addition to guessing that Eren only did all this shit because Mikasa family-zoned him, I also predicted that the all Eldians would die because the rest of humanity would survive the Rumbling and just unite against them even more.

I was all for the genocide ending up until Eren suddenly turned into a big bitch baby, and was suddenly so remorseful for what he's doing. That just made him an even dumber, and worse character in my eyes, and made me want to see his plan fail because he's such a fucking stupid whiny edgelord about it.

You know the ending I wanna see now?

Eldia fucking losing because of Eren.

Humanity survives, and the Eldians are all doomed because Eren's fucking genocide has united the entire world into killing them even more. All of this was pointless, and it's all Levi's Eren's fucking fault.

There.

That's the ending I want now.
Well, I guess I got what I wanted, and more considering what insanity actually happened.

Honestly the Serumbowl really seems to me in hindsight the moment the series went downhill since it was like Isayama made sure there was nothing at all to stop Eren from doing the rumbling shit which is why Armin lived. Because Erwin though he is far from the best military commander was one of the few effective tard wranglers Eren had. The entirety of the issues in the post-timeskip era of AOT boiled down to Isayama forcing stuff that doesn't make sense (like the world's over the top racism, instantly believing one rich Eldian asshole, getting rid of anyone who'd probably tard wrangle Eren, and everyone not being as competent) just so Eren can do the Ledouche plan.

I disagree with Erwin ultimately fixing anything in the end. I firmly believe he would've found a way to make things even worse. I don't know how, but I know for a fact he would've found a way to fuck things up even more.

Maybe I'm more willing to go along with something but I was completely onboard until 139. I remember at the time thinking "how in the world are he going to end this in one chapter" and the answer was he couldn't. I think even outside the idiotic PATHS stuff, there was a way to make the story work even if Eren doesn't wipe out all of humanity. You can still have the Avengers win. You just need to have a really idioticish Geass like optimistic ending where you kill Eren and make peace with the nations and whatever as Paradis promises to work with the world never to use its powers again and forms an alliance with the fake Japanese nation to show their commitment to peace or whatever. Stupid but at least gives you an out.

The ending is so bad because it does this weird middle ground. Yay, we made peace with the world and were able to save 20% at least. But also the Paradis leadership is turning into a fascist militaristic government preparing for war. That's the inconsistency. I think the series obviously has a ton of problems but the writer had just picked one (Eren wins, wipes out all of humanity so that Paradis can take over the world) or the other (Eren loses thanks to alliance united in love and brotherhood to defeat him and usher in a generation of peace and understanding), we'd at least get something that was at least an ending with a theme and some closure even if hard to believe and overly optimistic in the case of the Truth and Understanding Ending or just plain depressing and problematic for all sorts of political reasons in the 100% Death Ending. But we got something in the middle that just leaves everyone confused.
