I was at the convention and there was an Attack on Titan booth. It had a board for fans to write messages and let’s hope Isayama doesn’t read this. The booth itself was mostly hyping up the manga and how “great” the ending was.

Isayama better have great security. I can't imagine this ending well.

Well I am watching snippets of Isayama's panel and he said some stuff

1. Title was originally Humanity vs Titans

2. Isayama wanted to do more gore but worried about cancellation

3. Isayama's character creation process is that he draws a character first and makes a personality later

4. During Marley Arc, due to his interest in Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad, Gabi was meant to be similar to Arya Stark while Jesse Pinkman was inspiration for Falco

5. Isayama said that the Japanese VA of Eren influenced the ending because their performance as Eren made Isayama believe that Eren was a good guy and he's sorry that he ended the manga that way because he feels he struggled to stick the landing.

6. AOT was originally supposed to end like pic related (Kaiji by Kiyoshi Yamashita)

7. Isayama does not know what Freedom means

8. Isayama likes Better Call Saul

9. Isayama based Hange off of his close male friend who he says is really weird

10. Isayama really likes Jordan Peele's Nope

11. Isayama's current favorite Attack on Titan character is Jean

12. Isayama's favorite moment in Attack on Titan is when Sasha and Connie called each other idiots because they were both actually idiots. Also he said that he sometimes forgets what happened in the story. Isayama also liked the episode about Keith's flashback due to its importance on the plot

Isayama's final message is

“I want to express my gratitude to all fans. I wasn’t sure how to feel about the end of the story. I was having a really difficult time. Carrying heavy feelings, I was down for a long time, until yesterday when I met fans during the signing.”

“Fans told me the ending was great and that they loved the ending and it made me happy and coming to New York was a great experience for me. Thank you.”

Also Isayama told people to do the salute for a photo op

EDIT: Made adjustments to be more accurate to what Isayama said, he didn't feel like he failed but he really struggled to stick the landing.

Reading all this, I can’t bring myself to hate Isayama.

Kubo does the same thing. Whenever he runs out of ideas, he creates new characters.

9. Isayama based Hange off of his close male friend who he says is really weird
How much of a psycho do you have to be for Isayama to think you're weird?

This man is the most dedicated troll I've ever seen. :story:

Yeah it was more the anime as well

Also for context, while I said he originally wanted to end the manga like the Kaiju artpiece, apparently he already did that given the context of what the art piece represents

Yamashita's Kaiju. In these stories of monsters, the monster come and create a lot of destruction but leave/go back to sleep before they destroy everything.

This picture was influenced by WWII and how Japan perceived America, so basically Isayama had more WWII inspirations

Just looking at that list of points really paints a picture. He is either the greatest troll who ever lived or one of the greatest hacks since Rian Johnson.

Its impressive how terrible his creative process truly is and how little actual real world experience he puts into his work outside of copying shit from other media properties badly.

I’m not sure he’s a hack like Rian, if only because the fall of AOT was nowhere near as big as the one Star Wars suffered.

Rian was handed a stable giant tower and pushed it over, Isayama built an unstable tower then pushed it over. I think Isayama is the bigger hack because he had to go through the effort to build it poorly before tearing it down unlike Rian who simply took a hammer to something that was already stable.

How do Isayama and Rian compare to Neil Druckmann though?
