How will Eren be stopped?

For the record, my issue isn't him listening to Eren. It's him listening to Eren while Eren is an edgy little shit to him. I dunno, maybe it's the fact that he such a hardass with Zeke that seeing him just fold to Eren faster than Annie folded Levi's squad just feels like a blatant example of author fiat to me, and let's face it, it probably is. Driven mad by his wife's death or not, it still feels like bullshit to me.

The Carla comment was me just being sarcastic, but now that I think about it, I would really like to see Eren try to pull the same shit with her and see how far he gets.
I mean with Zeke it was when he was a radical but there was a lot of things that made him just go softer than Eren, but Eren being a piece of shit would've still elicited more resistance at least.

Eren trying that on his mom would probably end like a goanimate grounding video

It leads part of me to think that Eren deliberately killed his mom because he knew she wouldn't put up with this shit if she was alive.

The fact that nobody in the series pulled the "What would your mother think of what you're doing and what you've become?" is just another example of how this manga went off the rails. They couldn't even do the "Eren, you have become the very thing you swore to destroy" thing.

It's due to Isayama's insistence on making Eren a tragic and sympathetic character. Like sure I can get the tragedy for him but he's no way sympathetic.

Hell the most we had was Eren saying he's no different from Reiner which was decent but would've been better if someone else brought it up to him (like Isayama literally has two characters who are perfectly capable of doing that and he doesn't utilize them to call Eren out)

To be fair, Eren himself does wonder at one point what his mother would think if she saw him doing this, and that thought does literally nothing to stop him, or change his mind.

Personally, I think someone should've asked him what she would think if she knew he took her words that showed just how much she loved him ("He's special because he was born into this world.") to justify genocide.

And a story that was all about fighting fate, even if you have to hold the biggest L in the universe, became a guy that had to do things one way and one way only because reasons. Honestly, after the timeskip, I thought there was an idea of the show doing what it did at the start, but with Eren and company being the Titans from the perspective of someone like Falco or Gabi, and the conflict would end with Eren's death that'd prevent some mutually assured destruction shit with Eren not caring about the "mutually" part. And there'd be no rumbling. And Paradis wouldn't have to worry about being blown to kingdom come.

I swear to God, every time I think of ways things could have gone differently, I get a little sad.

Yeah cause there were so many more interesting ways that the story could've gone. Hell the current structure is fine but the details are absolutely stupid from the many retarded decisions characters make and the way Isayama acts like a D&D DM who insists on people doing one path while making sure anyone who tries anything different instantly fail is telling.

But no one ever thinks about that, they just want to bitch about anime girls

I mean, look at this:

When you look at this image without context, do you think of Eren Yeager at all? This is what Titans would look like in our perspective; horrific beings that can destroy with abandon. Visages of death that look like beings of Hell itself.

Then we have this shot of the Colossal Titan standing over the destroyed remains of Liberio:

It's blurry, but the imagery is there; Just picture something that huge standing before the remains of a place that once held so many.

Attack on Titan can be scary, it's just the way it's portrayed (I.E a shonen manga) that removes a lot of that horror away because of all the anime shenanigans that occur. This guy gets just how fucked this setting is.
The bad writing makes it easy to forget how actually scary the Attack On Titan world is.

To be fair literally everyone is a saint compared to Eren (with exceptions to King Cuck and Willy who are probably the only people as stupid as Eren).

It still astounds me how Eren commits the rumbling because a girl he liked rejected him, it still is one of the most pathetic motivations out there.

You know, the level at which AOT fans seem to utterly hate Mikasa and want her to die because this will somehow make Eren a super awesome giga-Chad is….unsettling.

Seems Eren truly is just a self-insert incel.

I love how they all hate her for "being a slave" with no personality but want to take Historia, who they absolutely love, and make her into the exact same thing.

Really makes ya think.

Like they really ignore the fact that Historia is against the rumbling and would be pretty pissed off if she found out what he did.

Seriously I do not think a single other female character outside of an in-universe female Yaegerist that would even want to bother being with Eren.

If Isayama was edgier this probably would've been school castes

You know, I remember a fic that came out just when Sasha's death was fresh (and when I still bothered to read AOT fics). https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12924930/1/The-Moon-Is-Not-Yet-Up

And to think she was on a path to opening an orphanage after being crowned the ruler of the walls.

Funny you mention high school since Isayama went all out with that.

Good to see the true couple Ymir and Historia managed in this world.

Also, I think those two had some of the biggest character development in the show. At least Historia.
Personally I feel there were better candidates for biggest candidate. If you mean best development I'd still say there were better options. However, Eren no matter what has the biggest in terms of just the amount as he goes from an angry shounen protagonist (Seasons 1-2) to a guilt driven person ashamed by his own actions (Uprising Arc) to being more mature (Return to Shigashina) and then becomes an edgelord whose actually a pathetic incel (the rest of the story)

The problem with her character isn't that she's set up to be morally in the wrong, it's moreso that she's a terminally obnoxious kid who's introduced two-thirds in, unceremoniously kills off a fan favorite, and is jarringly shoved into the spotlight as one of the new protagonists before she even has the chance to be established as an interesting character, which ultimately never happens anyways. On paper, she's entirely sympathetic. In practice, she is hastily tacked on to the story in a way that makes it difficult for the audience not to find her immensely unlikeable.

And really, making a character too sympathetic is a form of bad writing in and of itself and something of a trend in modern media. Characters need tangible flaws to make them feel more human.

I guess development is development. Even if it makes no sense. Also, seems that "guilt and ashamed" thing was done too early.

Personally I think the issue is that she killed Sasha and it only leads to a preachy moral about “children in war bad” since Isayama is a hack who likes to shove a lot of preachy morals after the basement.

I say this because there are a lot of other characters introduced in the timeskip who are more likeable and have some degree of sympathy (mainly Pieck)

I mean, I think the aftermath of Gabi killing Sasha could be something if it was done right. Hell, that fic I posted earlier was just an attempt in showing actions have consequences, but it COULD be a way to develop Gabi, with Falco as moral compass/chain for her.
