(was Deus Ex or System Shock ever released on consoles?)
Deus Ex came out on PS2, and the sequel on Xbox. The PS2 Deus Ex is pretty bad, while the made-for-consoles sequel is also panned by the fanbase because of all the compromises that had to be made to make it playable on consoles.

Anyways, picked it up on sale, going to try it this weekend.

Muh, some of this is gay as hell. Got stuck on a platforming bit and had to reload. Now I have to redo the fucking balls in the furnace section :(
Crispy Critters also sounds gay as hell

The one thing I outright hate so far is the QTEs, I had to redo the ball furnace thing too because one of the robots grabbed me, I fat fingered the wrong key during the quick time event and got insta killed. Fucking gay.

Man this game is frustrating at times. In general the combat is fun, the graphics are incredible, and the setting/story is interesting. And sometimes the game is a piece of shit and I wish death upon the developers. Case in point, the red monster thing that you can only kill melee keeps showing up (usually with loads of plant men), and is nothing more than an annoying machette sponge. Grrrrr

Yeah that's an annoying one. Putting burn on the melee weapon kinda helps and it takes some damage from energy weapons as well iirc.

And that grab QTS that goes on forever is the semen frosting on a shit cake
I had trouble with them but then found the circular saw weapon's alt fire that you find in one of the poligon's will rip right through them. Will rip through anything for that matter, that thing is extremely OP, I spent maybe the last quarter of the game barely using my guns and just turning everything into bloody paste using the saw blades.

I really wanted to like this game. The story and intrigue are good, the gameplay is pretty good, but the open overworld and traversal are so fucking shit. The interior areas are good, especially the theater. It had some Bioshock vibes.

Besides the test chambers or whatever they're called, there are only four interior areas: the first lab, the area after the green ball boss with the robot sisters, the theater, and the medical area. There isn't any gameplay in the the archive area and the last bit in the tower is just the twins.

The way upgrades work is weird too. I don't really get why they felt the need to refund all of your components and hold the upgrade key five times just to effectively switch modules instead of just clicking and switching once its been crafted. It could have even been a gameplay element. Most weapons have a module for robots and a module for organics. On that note, I seriously underestimated how good the damage vs robots bonus was on a fully kitted shotgun. Until I tried it, I thought the shotgun was trash.

If it the game was just interior areas without the overworld, I'd definitely be praising it.

I just finished the game and I'm sure I missed a whole bunch of stuff as I never got the rail gun and most of the weapon upgrades, and I'm pretty sure they were on the overworld which was a bit shit with the forever respawning robots. I figured out how to shut them down for a while, but where there were red ? circles, I could never find the boxes with the upgrades :(

The ending was annoying with a cliffhanger and all.
Granny Zina is cool

The security systems seemed convoluted as hell initially, with needing to use the cameras to open doors and whatnot. Plus it doesn't help that some zones have several camera hubs and maybe that door or whatever that needs opening is just on the edge and is controlled by another camera hub.

The ? circles are where the test chambers are right? Tbh I blazed through the game in like 3 days so I don't remember super well. Some of them were tricky as hell to get into.

I am at the twins and it's just like Ornstein and Smough all over again but this time Smough flies and throws goo balls whilst Ornstein commits to the electro butt slam every moment you're not watching to then follow up with claw slashes. Love it but fuck me I hate it

Yep, most were get pick the correct camera and open door but I think there were two outliers. One where you need to unlock with a lock puzzle & key and the other where you had to enable 3 generators(?) to open. Upgrades are worth it, makes great weapons like the shogun, rocket launcher and zvezdochka amazing

I beat them the first time and thought 'is that it?!' Rocket launcher and machette did the job

There is also that one testing zone located in an area infested with mutants that requires you to free the HAWK drone first from all the plant overgrowth. I liked that area a lot.

Is the game better with Russian subtitled dialogue or English dialogue?

SUBS OR DUBS?
Dubs are garbage but clear.

Subs are voiced better, but if you don't speak Russian you're likely to miss a fair bit of information since you're not going to be reading while exploring or fighting and they sometimes cut out between menus (unless that's been patched).

It's been such a long time since I found a game that was so imaginative and stylised that just fell apart from core gameplay design decisions. The locations are amazing, the lore is interesting, the puzzles are imaginative but not too autistic, the music and sound design (bar the main character voice acting) is great but the combat and general gameplay is just a complete chore to get through.

They were SO close to hitting a home run that I'm mad about it. Dogshit bullet sponge enemies, endless respawns, quick time events, surveillance cameras that remind me too much of the no fun allowed police in GTA V, but the worst part by far is that not a single weapon feels enjoyable to use.

If it's a stealth game why is it forcing me into bullet sponge boss fights? If it's an action game then why is running and gunning so ineffective? I'm just mad that this isn't even something that can be modded out with a dedicated team of Russian autists, the core of the game is just total dogshit and it ruins this amazingly crafted toybox that you can fuck about in.
