Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Here's the thing the newfags are missing about the "factionalism" concern:
There's very little incentive to reintegrate these factions together with minimal user loss.

It seems everyone who joins from 2019 or later is under the impression that being a user on Kiwifarms makes you a valuable asset to it. They seem to believe that Null's concerns about the cultural fragmentation of the site is borne from a desire to unify these factions, while keeping as many users as possible. This is untrue.
Kiwifarms has a history of Balkanization, but the solution always ends up being mass exodus of the rebels. This isn't the American Civil War; no one here has any incentive to keep around parties who try to create rifts on the site for their own personal gain.

The problem here is that this faction of politards is more unwilling than the others to leave. Since most feel they have nowhere else to go to discuss their opinions, they aren't just skittering away like roaches when slighted, like previous rebel factions have.
Instead, these newfags all have it lodged in their heads that, because this forum is highly pro-free speech, it must be their land to defend, and being expelled from it for any reason is unjust and against "what the site stands for".
They're refusing to run from what they believe to be their proverbial Jerusalem, a holy land capable of giving them their deserved freedom.

All of this is wrong.

This isn't a forum built off and centered around the idea of talking with impunity, however you'd like, about politics. It's a forum about talking with impunity, however you'd like, about retards on the internet. Everything else is categorized obviously within "Off-Topic" because it's just not what the site is about.
To the holy-minded political newfag, this looks like anathema; "How could you make free speech all about stalking fat women on the internet, when it's REALLY about saving America from the negro?!", they cry into their pillow. "Doesn't Papa Nool realize that this is so much more important than that? And I thought he was BASED!"
But this is how it always has been, and this is how it always will be.

Although it's been more of a fight than previous pseudo-civil wars(due to this faction being very strong off-site), all the political newfags will, slowly but surely, trickle off and excise themselves just the same--it's already mostly happened. You never see A&Hposters in the other parts of the site anymore, whereas they used to be borderline commonplace, bitching moralistically in every thread involving a tranny or a jew.
Then, the forum will rest easy, while the next cultural tumor forms.

Retards love to complain about "leftist memes" but the lack of willingness for the vast majority of people to read anything with more than 4 words on it has contributed to the collective dumbing down of everyone on the internet. Just because something is simple doesn't mean it's right or superior in its message.

Or maybe there are just some topics that need more nuance than something you can explain in a retarded ">your opinion vs my opinion" meme and trying to condense complex political topics down into something to be laughed at doesn't actually make that political idea correct.

Leftists memes are usually just regular apolitical shitposting. Any political topic that require someone to critically think about the subject at hand can't be compressed down into some stupid meme that blames a scapegoat on everything, and needs to use nuance to analyze these complex topics. Right wing "da jooz" memes can be funny because they're simple, but it's not a nuanced analysis of reality.

It can't be compressed if you either don't understand the subject well enough, is predicated on circular reasoning, or your inability to understand the thinking process of your intended audience.
All information is compressible, including information exchanged between humans regardless of the means.

Ah yes of course. Something like the situation of Assadist Syria having to balance the geopolitical implications working with the Russians after a United States withdrawal from the region against a Turkish invasion to genocide Kurds is definitely something that can be compressed down into a haha funny meme.
