Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

New threads should be made like this.

2. DO. NOT. EDIT. ARTICLES. AND. HEADLINES. I know I mentioned this, but there were one or two posters who do this. I'm not going to name, because I'm already stirring up enough shit as it is. Leave the articles and headlines as they are and let posters draw their own conclusions.
3. Constant thread derailment abou
What about if the article has some image or ad that doesn't add to the context of it?

I'm going to assume it means more changing a headline to "FIFTY CHILDFUCKERS DEPLOY INVASION FORCES IN OUR NATION'S CAPITAL" when the real headline is "South American Catholic Group Arrives In Washington DC For Tourism And Light Diplomacy" than cutting out "click here for more headlines!" in the middle of the story

To be honest I clip out or dramatically shrink images in articles all the time. They're usually fucking enormous and they almost never actually add anything to the article, so I just trim it out. It's the editorializing of headlines that gets tiresome, even though I personally disagree with that rule because I think that some headlines could be better contextualized, but a lot of people wouldn't be able to do that properly without injecting a mountain of bias into their interpretation, so I may not personally like the rule, but I understand why it exists.

To err on the side of caution, I just copy paste the title as is. Images I make smaller; I try to make paragraphs too.

Sounds like tokenism to me!
They're beautiful and funny.

My own worry is what will happen IF Biden wins the election. I almost wanna see what happens but at the same time I know it will become a ((them)) posting extravaganza.

@Secret Asshole what will you do about posters like zap2theextreme, who openly admit that they only post in Articles and News to "trigger the right-wingers, own the right-wingers" with low-quality bait/trolling/shitposting/drive-by stupidity (because obviously everyone in A&N is right-wing)? And what of those who don't openly admit it, but do nothing else but cringey "trigger and own the right" bait/trolling/shitposting/drive-by stupidity.

I would talk about the equal and opposite "trigger/own the libs" posters as well, but they aren't equal in number on A&N. In fact, I haven't seen a single poster of that category ever post on A&N.

Yeah I like hearing Vox giving us some Gender Studies Major's hot take about how nachos are transphobic

Alright, I'll make it clear:

1. Posting shit from extremely fringe sources as OP to be as inflammatory as possible. There's no list of approved sources, but please use your fucking brain.
2. DO. NOT. EDIT. ARTICLES. AND. HEADLINES. I know I mentioned this, but there were one or two posters who do this. I'm not going to name, because I'm already stirring up enough shit as it is. Leave the articles and headlines as they are and let posters draw their own conclusions.
3. Constant thread derailment about ((them)) when it has nothing to do with ((them)). I'm talking about whatever group the article is about, but mainly Jews. Especially if its not funny. If its funny, you'll probably get a pass.
4. Keep that race-war, race-baiting shit here. Do not spread this retardation outside of this retarded forum.
5. If you think the Turner Diaries are real.

That about sums it up. Most people are fine, but the real aggravating ones have been really grinding my gears. The Happening forum is a raging dumpster fire of faggotry and I'm not even attempting to touch that.

I just see it outside of A&H on occasion, the other mods of their respective forums have to deal with it. I'd like to bring back public shaming, but I only feel like everything will go crazy if that happens.
See, I think you are crippling yourself with half measures. This thread doesn't have a real purpose, you should use it to name and shame the worst of the idiots. Everyone likes laughing at retards, and it's politically neutral. More importantly though, you would be giving people examples of what not to do. You don't have to do it all the time, and you can have fun with it - maybe have a 'biggest retard of the month competition'. It seems like your current mo is to not give a shit until you can't take it anymore and then you flip out, which - either way - will end in tragedy.

In Vino Veritas is a meme. Alcohol just makes you rant to placate the immediate emotional need, it doesn't mean the solution in that rant is any good.
I agree though that mods should name and shame the people editing articles/images to induce (((spergery))). Whoever's behind Tuscangarder's endless army of socks did that repeatedly. It's one of the most annoying things about this subforum, as the drooling userbase here will always eat the bait, and almost always it drives whatever might've been good about the thread way off topic into the same general doom-y race spergery that plagues this place.
