Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Predominantly it was for evading chat bans, actually. The fact that nearly everyone hated them wasn't too much of a problem, but going out of your way to flout the rules and evade bans is a guaranteed way to get slapped. As someone else put it in the moderation thread, "You can either sock or you can be an annoying spastic everyone hates. Can't be both."

I will be honest and just give my opinion.

Imageboards/Chans always look like shit to me.
 
Sometimes I legitimately can't tell if some of the spastics that post in A&H and get banned truly believe what they are posting or just do it to try to shitpost and rustle people's jimmies, but either way how fucking pathetic do you have to be to get banned from Bird Website for being objectively exceptional.

At least it's fun to watch.

What about those who underestimated the virus at the beginning of it, but then realized they fucked up and it was a lot more serious than they thought?

Seriously though, as someone who was in that boat back in early-mid March just before the lockdowns, I initially thought it was being overhyped at first partly due to the doomers and partly because of usual media sensationalism. I admit, I was kind of wrong on that, but I also think the doomers are batshit insane in their own right.

I'm more concerned about the long-term economic impact of the virus and the overall unknown factor of this disease.

That's because Ashy actually had a personality outside of being a commie, and would occasionally post outside of the usual political hotbed threads on A&H/A&N and Deep Thoughts.

Ashy was cringe in their own right, but was obviously not just a gimmick poster like tuscan.

Man, if Tuscan's pathetic, what term do we use to describe all the people who let xer derail A&H threads at will if it meant they could light a commie strawman afire? The likely teenager who literally gave his furry porn addiction as the reason behind his political outlook could see what was happening.

This place is gonna have another Tuscan, then another, then another, in perpetuity. Too many of you seem to get your rocks off pwning the libs, even if the 'lib' in this context is a crayon portrait of Mao some kid scribbled on a wall.
 
I doubt it will be as frequent as implied. It takes a particularly virulent brand of autism to go as long and as hard on the troll game as long as tuscan did.

That wasn't the first shitposter and it won't be the last. People need to take a moment to realize that responding to gimmicky shitposter bait is a waste of fucking time, but they don't. That's why it's so fun to watch.

Tuscan would shit up the thread either way, least it's more interesting when somebody tries to let them know they are being the asshole in the conversation.
