Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

The only upcoming Squad event that might require it's own thread is going to be when the Justice Democrats start their primary challenges. They're all (two dozen!) being funded by AOC and her various networks.

We won't need a Justice Democrats megathread until primary season actually starts though.

Anyways only once I get home do I have time to post and decide where to post, in megathreads, a follow up to a article or this has to be a stand alone.

I've noticed that the alt right types who show up tend to want the same things that SJWs want: to control 'the narrative'. They're often as easily offended as SJWs too, only they're offended by different things as SJWs. They do not want to engage with people on the outside looking in or challenge a disagreement, they want to draw lines in the sand and only want to talk with people who are already part of their in-group, but they want to do it here and they chafe with regulars. I've had one quit (if memory serves) when he served me some hyperbolic ultimatum and I asked if he was kidding, then he framed that question as evidence I couldn't have a real discussion and left.

If I had to put it more succinctly, I guess you could say the alt-right are... (((immigrants))) who won't assimilate to the local culture.

Petition to move both of these threads to A&H since now they have become too overtly political and is a breeding ground autism.


Went back a couple pages of both threads and they have devolved into complete faggotry of the worse kind.

You got one thread filled with powerleveling whiny bitches crying about how they lost their friends because of I like Trump. Then you got the other thread trying to take gay and unnecessary potshots at the other thread because "lol boomers xd". Then to top it all, instead of people making fun of exceptional individuals in these respective communities, both of these threads are now filled with some of the most gayest fucking faggotity political takes I've ever read in my life. No one gives a shit about how you don't like Boomers or Republicans nor Millennial or Democrats. TDS thread is slightly worst than the TES thread because those faggots literally write long ass essays about "leftist r evul" or some gay shit instead posting some actual content.

To be fair, entire news articles do wind up being copy-and-pasted into these threads. We'd need to curb that if they were put into General to avoid dicking up the SEO, or not give a damn about it if it was pushed into A&H.

I hadn't thought about general discussion not being hidden. Might be better to just do that then, or maybe turn deep thots into an actual political board, and apply the same guest block that A&H has now.

I lost my aunt to TDS. It was sad because we were really close. She tutored me for the essay portion of the SAT, proofread my essays throughout college, and really helped shape me as a writer.

Somehow she got it into her head that because my parents are a little bit more on the conservative side (socially liberal, fiscally conservative) that they are naturally bigoted racist Trump supporters. Haven't spoken to us and blown off every holiday invitation since. She doesn't talk to me either despite me being completely apolitical outside of the internet. Last time I saw her was my grandma's funeral.

I still follow my aunt on Twitter. Every morning at 6:30, she will spew venom on every recent Trump tweet then say mean hateful things to supporters in the comments. At one point she said it's fun to bully conservatives. She is a grown ass woman. What I worry about is my cousin, her son. He is in college and severely autistic. While he is nonverbal he can use an iPad to type and communicates that way and the kid is smart as hell and a terrific writer. He knows what is going on even if he can only speak in Thomas the Tank Engine quotes. Poor kid is probably hearing and absorbing whatever TDS nonsense my aunt is spewing. He's a good kid and this has to be stressing him out.
