Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

The problem isn't A&H though. Why punish people who are keeping to the spirit of the board for the actions of a bunch of shitheads?

At this point, I think it's beyond policing. The cat is out of the bag. The dumbfucks are gonna be fucking dumb. Get members of the community who have thick enough skin and enough contribution to the board and want to help, assign them to manage the tard farm, and leave it there, that's how I see it.

I like how a couple A&H regulars are sperging about how "our percious forum" will be nuked or censored, without acknowledging why or how it has gotten to that point.

A fair chunk of A&H posts are racist memes and talking points against minorities, transgenders, liberals, Jews and everywhere in between. It's hard to get a word in edgewise without the most popular post being some obvious low-effort post demeaning a whole population of people...

You're complaining about losing A&H, but you're not doing anything to self moderate and clean up the space you occupy FOR FREE. And that toxic atmosphere is seeping onto other parts of the website.

Yes, it must be acknowledged that there are many toxic posts on A&H. Just look at the attitude of many conservative posters, when confronted with Donald Trump's plan to cut Medicaid. They literally celebrate anything that will hurt people they hate, like 'boomers', or 'socialists'. They want to see people die for lack of medical care.

There's a culture to this site, at least that I've seen in my short time here. People that are flagrantly starting shit and being nigs for the fuck of it have every right to do so, mind, just as the administration have the right to do something. What would you suggest we do? Leave any constructive, intelligent discussion to be drowned out by retardation? Honestly, I'd rather deal with a bit more authoritarian shit from the mods in that case.

Edited for clarity: The culture of this site, and from the moderation team that I've seen, makes me believe an SA-fying of the site is not entirely impossible, but highly unlikely.

It's also gay when people smugly characterize any defenses of A&H as "persecution complex" or "knee-jerk reactions" or "lol A&H hoes mad", as if any attempt to argue for A&H is in itself irrational.

It is also loaded with the assumption that any complaint made against A&H, no matter how banal or moronic, is merely "criticism" that should just be accepted without issue.

There are some outright hateful comments in this forum and I myself am guilty of making unnecessary anti-Islam comments.

However what you are describing seems to mostly just be normal people who are actually free to express themselves without worrying about weirdos trying to get them fired over it.
