Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

Sadly posting 'check out this new vid of thread topic cow mauling breakfast, his dainty hamhands cannot manage that spoon' is now sort of political. In that 'free speech' even of basic truths has become a caustic minefield on the interwebs. It's not OK to 'say stuff' and the main people creating this madness appear to be a bastardised 'left'. So, it's not a surprise that KF can be a haven for those fleeing this and moreover the niggerfaggotjew 'right'.

I don't see a problem with A&H, I read an article and if it's interesting read a few comments. I've enjoyed the britbong thread recently which has mainly been posting of 'we see your trump derangement and we ARE here too; they ARE killing us' from people who were under a dull conservative government and still are. But then because there is so much 'you can't say that anymore' I have become a lot more welcoming of people saying retarded crap any direction they want.

On topic - @Null is this an issue for articles on the main boards? e.g. 'Yaniv in the news', would it be better if people just linked archives?
 
The only problem I have with people who think the left's censoring things is - do you ever go offline? Do you see left-wingers in the street going up to people they don't know and beating the shit out of them in any place that isn't Portland? No? Didn't think so.

The 'free speech is political' argument would imply that this goes on in real life when most people couldn't give a shit about what you want to say. Censorship-happy left-wingers, the socialist types, are such a fraction of a fraction it's not that much of an issue. Contact me when the DSA gets enough members to become the new Democratic party.

The other thing I can't stand is the political bias. I know this point has been beaten to death but I wanna keep beating it until you understand how autistic this is. A&H faggots can somehow find a way to make a thread 100 pages about a 16 year old girl with aspergers who wants to do something about climate change with several exceptional and embarrassing bad takes. Instead of actually taking on the shit she's trying to advocate for it's 90+ pages of "lol she has aspergers", "i would fuck her after she's 18", or my favorite "shes just a pawn for da libs". Oh and Jews somehow get mentioned again despite the fact that she's not jewish:

Also some A&H people just have objectively bad takes. Just pure stupidity. Take this thread for example. A subsitute teacher was fired for aruging with a student about why having gay parents is wrong. Now rather you disagree or agree with that religious sperg isn't the issue and if you're IQ was higher than 3 you would know the real issue is "should ideologies be pushed on young people in a class room?". Thankfully as far as I can tell the majority of takes on this thread were ok-ish. But of course the A&H spergs have to fuck it up. Thread slowly devolves into...well this shit.



TL;DR: A&H filled with people with objectively bad takes, right wing circle jerk, threads have people wanting a serious conversation, baitposters, and ironyposters which leads to massive shitshows, and autism.

The whole point of being in power is that you don't have to go and beat people.

You may have seen videos of Cossacks beating Pussy Riot agitators in Russia.

Do you think that the Don Horde makes a regular circuit of local businesses beating employees who have expressed views that will encourage harm to children? No, of course not. They don't need to. Because- unlike the paid agitators with nothing better to do- even if people in regular employment have garbage views they have been forced into at least outward conformity by the society in which they live.

The same is true in Ammurrica, but in Ammurrica, you will lose your job for expressing views against harm to children or be beaten for demonstrating against harm to children in the streets.

The problem is not 'leftism'. The problem is not the DSA, or 'antifa'. The problem is the financiers behind them, who are the same as those behind mainstream 'right wing' groups.

However, the NYT is reluctant to report on such things, so I have no reason to try and preach to those who close their minds to the truth.

Contact me when the common outlet for citizen level political discourse goes back to Greek forums, public squares, and chapter houses. Most political discourse today is conducted online. Clearly if you have one group of people systematically removing all dissenting voices in the only really actively used outlet for politics today, that counts as censorship.

This is why you should avoid reading nothing but WaPo. Off the top of my head I can think of two recent incidents just within my state. One was a guy who was attacked for wearing a Trump mask at a Halloween party, and the other happened outside of a bar to a guy wearing a Trump hat.

About the only right wing posters or pages that aren't deleted on facebook and twitter are ones with massive audiences which would cause there to be media attention if they were removed. On the "certain universities" thing I'm guessing you haven't been to college. I'm not even at a very lefty school, but I've been in plenty of classes where if you were white, Christian, right wing, and/or male you better keep your mouth shut when politics come up if you don't want to fail the class.

You have a weird view of what censorship is. No, personally I have not seen people get beat up over speech in the small area of America that I live. But there are plenty of stories of people being attacked, assaulted, or harassed over Trump or just being conservative. And the left actually thinks this is justified and would escalate that behavior if it was legal.

The problem, and I'm going to use Leftist word that I hate, is institutional. Whether it's liberal city courts (giving Proud Boys two years for a street fight, but giving Antifa a slap on the wrist, or dismissal), left media villainizing the right (the Covington kids were the aggressors, anybody who wears a MAGA hat had it coming), tech and social media (banning Alex Jones for being a wacky conspiracy theorist, Milo for being an abrasive provocateur), colleges letting the students destroy their campuses (Orthodox Jew Ben Shapiro is a NAZI, Anne Coulter is a NAZI, everybody is a NAZI). The Left engage in Cancel Culture, getting people fired, mass efforts to pull advertisers, or petition for payment processors to drop people. All of this because they don't like what we have to say.

Now you could say these are just a handful of high profile cases out of the 325 million people in America. But this is only in the last three years that Trump has been elected. Leftists are all about "progress", so this is only going to get worse. Gay rights used to be about keeping the government out of consenting adult's bedrooms, abortions were supposed to be safe, legal, and rare, and they we're not coming for your guns. Now teenage boys should be allowed in teenage girl's locker rooms, abortion can be considered after the baby is born, and some are campaigning on taking your guns. Young people are alarmingly for the idea that "hate speech" doesn't count as free speech, and the above institutions agree, and those young people are going to be the future of those institutions.

Leftists are all about power, and if they get into power again, I think they will heavily lean towards hate speech laws, like Europe has, and our means of mass communication will undoubtedly go along with it.

So no, I'm not worried about talking to a friend at a bar about why unfettered immigration is bad and some rando jumping over a table dropkicking me. I'm worried about bringing up why unfettered immigration is bad on social media or youtube that will get mobs of randos from all over the world demanding that I'm banned, doxing me and getting me fired, pressuring financial institutions deny any service, stigmatizing me on a personal level, targeted physical assault, and those in power just shrug their shoulders and say, "Well, you shouldn't have been such a huge racist".
