Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Inertia mostly, because before the last year's worth of notoriety this site was actually a pretty awesome place to chat about current events, Then we got invaded by waves of unfunny boomer facebook republicans and 8pol refugees.

Have whatever fun it is you get from here that drives you to circumvent dozens of bans for months on end to keep posting, because at the rate you guys are going I strongly doubt this place will last another year before it gets purged like Events and News did and we can't talk politics on this forum anymore.

I said earlier that you have two options for dealing with posts you don't like, report or ignore. But I wasn't seeing the forest for the trees - there is a third option, that being we talk it out ourselves, like we have been doing all through this thread. It seems like a better option for things like this, because even the people with interesting shit to say will get roped into jqing with speds like me, and you will end up with half the forum hidden.

I try to balance out saying my genuine opinions but doing it in a somewhat humorous, shitposty way so I don't come across as a moralfagging contrarian. Everything I say I believe to some extent, but sometimes I continue after I've said my piece just to shitpost

The occasional times I shitpost on A&H, it's usually in response to either Ashy or the more idiotic /pol/ tards who blame the Jews for everything from Jeffrey Epstein and "muh Demographics is Destiny" to cancelling Firefly and inventing AstroTurf.

Ppl are putting that shit at the bottom so you waste your time reading what you think may be a legit article that’s from “Communism Today” or “The Miscegenation Times”. Can we report this if there’s no mods?

I know it's easier, and I do it too, but we probably shouldn't just dismiss articles based on their source. If there's a problem try to verify it independently. I think it's better the source is hidden.

I get your point, especially with the consideration that this is becoming an echo chamber and all, but let me put it in perspective:

A lot of ppl (2-3+, null had to take it down and lock the final one) were sharing a link here about how China was cross breeding humans and pigs and having the poor beasts survive. Would you like to know it’s from The Onion/The Babylon Bee, Buzzfeed or Scientific American while you’re reading it? Iirc it was a bullshit clickbait site but if you hide the source you don’t have the tools necessary to look at it as objectively as you can. No one is fully objective, but allowing ppl prominent access to the sources allows them to look at the info provided w a more critical eye. I’m also wary of statistics that come from special interest round as they’re so easily manipulated, I’d like to know who is saying what.

You end up with "half the forum hidden" anyway whenever you come to this site, as noted by... you?

It's not a choice between those two options though, because running to the mods is gay as fuck bullshit that nobody should ever do regardless of their political persuasion. The options are to report or ignore.
