Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

New threads should be made like this.

I am not understanding why you don't want the article text in a quote box.

The only reason I can think of is to make it slightly harder for people to not actually read the article, but it seems to me that all that would do is increase first page scrolling.

After reading the last 10 pages I have a new idea.

1) We build a roof somewhere.
2) We assemble all staff, former staff and supporters of staff.
3) We push them off said roof for being massive gaylords.

37 pages. I read 37 pages of this asinine faggotry and mods crying about muh workload and this was the best post.

Thank you, sperglords. You made today's 2 hour train ride bearable.

Eh, I think we can spare AnOnimous. He's good for law info.

Exception to every rule and all that.

I've come up with this diagram to explain how a thread should look.

That works. I thought the old "no editorial in the thread topic" thing was a bit of an issue because what if the article itself is an editorial but I guess just sticking with its own words works.

AnOminous is basically Cincinnatus.

Same.

Also, this whole thread is trash, good thing I've only noticed that 1-2 pages near the end, I can't be bothered to read 30+ pages of drama. What did this thread even accomplish?

In it we see how the left and right have switched places on the order/chaos axis. Just look at the different attitudes to the staff - left wing users didn't like this board's temperament, so they went to the staff for help, meanwhile multiple right wingers are demanding their heads, and just as a matter of due course really, not because the staff are particularly bad or anything. It is basically a microcosm of the internet itself.

People outside A&H increasingly calling it a tired circlejerk/every moderator Null's ever asked to janny the sub quitting != "left-wing users hate the board's temperament so they went to Null for help". This is what I mean when I describe A&H regulars as having a persecution complex. People growing tired of this place's shit isn't the same thing as having an agenda to root out users due to ideological disagreement. Even if you agree with it every thread being filled with the same 2 takes of "hurr X bad" or "hurr imagine caring about x" just makes for boring discussion.

It's funny after reading this whole thread I'd be inclined to disagree with you pretty heavily. It seems like most the right leaning people welcome the discussion, they just don't have any patience for spin you see everywhere else in the mainstream media.

Others of us have seen the same story and setup happen on other forums and just know how the narratives go for this type of thing and are suspect of the whole thing because of this.

Don't get me wrong there are things that could use fixing around here but I have a feeling this is like a Twitter outrage where it's only a really a fairly small group of people that are upset but are magnifying it to make it seem like this place seem is Stormfront or some ridiculous shit. Like I've said several times in the thread, I've seen this before.

Cause so far the complaints are "people downvoted me!" and "they won't agree with me!" with a sprinkling of "Unironic racists and nazis!". The only actual complaints that I get is some of the formatting could be cleaned up on articles and avoiding baity thread titles but with the media these days the bait-titles are almost a feature, not a bug. You have the news media to thank for that.

Lol that's funny, because the fact that you think me saying 'lefties will ask mods for help while righties would rather kill themselves and this illustrates a shift in values' was a dig at the left says I'm not the one with the persecution complex here.
