Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

One could argue that these little post-badges cause echo chambers to form, given how they function like little skinner boxes that reward "Positive" views and punish "Negative" ones.

I don't come here because I care about Null's opinions. I come here because I enjoy the subject matter, I find the rules reasonable, and I am continually amused in a way that agrees with my tastes.

If you start a forum focused on political sperging that avoid the mean-girls problems I see here without introducing much worse problems, I'll at least give it a go. But I think that will prove harder than you may think.

In any case, you'll never make a good case for being a janny when you can't stop breaking the rules here. Do you need to be halaled before you learn not to do this?

People were fine with the Dynastier account until they realized, and then it was suddenly a problem.

There really is no official protocol for any of that, but thats "just how it works" around here. you cant argue it, its just how it is.

so now youre making these socks and its becoming tiresome for everyone involved. at this point, any socks you make will be wasted energy because they will be spamcleaned rather than your account being banned. its just a click of the button and everything disappears. takes staff 1 second.

If you do wanna come back, the most successful route you could take would be to just sit back for a bit, not make socks which draw attention, and fade from A&H memory. a month or so would be smart. in that time consider what all you did to be an annoyance to nol, staff, users, etc. come back and dont do those things. you wont get banned because we wouldnt be able to spot the big, bouncing, annoying spast jerking off all over the place, you would blend in. like i dont advocate for socking, but if a person isnt doing the things that got them banned to begin with and they are able to successfully post here without restrictions, then they arent a problem, and staff generally doesnt look for problems. enough problems poke their head up to keep us busy.

so if you go ahead and do that, you should be fine. if not, youll be doing a lot of typing into blank space.

i'm not sure when/if he was publicly outed by a mod, but he was already under suspicion of being a corbin sock less than 12 hours after registration. unless this IP check was performed before the profile post i linked, i don't see why it would even matter as his unbridled autism seems to make it obvious enough.

See this is what people really don't get. Staff isn't really interested in hunting down tards and tossing them over. That would be retarded and a huge waste of time. We're more interested in getting rid of behavior problems. So when we have someone like Corbin, who was a bit of an annoyance and hes coming back and being obvious, we have someone whose behavior got them banned behaving in a way that gets them noticed as the same person. So if we want to nip behaviors, it makes sense to boot them. If he is back under another sock and never gets found out, then that means his behavior issue has been corrected.

I view it as more or less a shitposting forum and treat it as such. People taking it deadly seriously is kind of funny. I wouldn't like to see it piss Null off to the point he shuts it down entirely, which he's tried to do before and it's never worked, much like moot getting rid of /new/ didn't work.

It's more than just a shitposting forum now, Reddit, 4chan, probably most significantly Mumsnet have all bent over to activist complaints.

Kiwi Farms is a carefully moderated forum where you can discuss topics in a way you can't anywhere else. Yeah it's important for people to be reminded occasionally and forcefully of it's shitposting origins, but it's more than that now.

If I want to discuss Current events, Media, film, society, I come here. Yeah I didn't know much about Chris Chan or DSP but in a weird way I'm kind of glad that I now have an awareness of both of those individuals.
