Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Kiwi Farms is a carefully moderated forum where you can discuss topics in a way you can't anywhere else. Yeah it's important for people to be reminded occasionally and forcefully of it's shitposting origins, but it's more than that now.

If I want to discuss Current events, Media, film, society, I come here. Yeah I didn't know much about Chris Chan or DSP but in a weird way I'm kind of glad that I now have an awareness of both of those individuals.

Feels. MY boomer ass is often pretty exceptional, but this is one of the few places online that isn't full of faggots even more exceptional than me, and I can run thinking or opinions by people without someone shitting or pissing their pants.

For context, I was criticizing the fact that some of the posters calling for A&H to be deleted/altered in this thread because of dog pilling, ad hominems, shitty bait posting, etc, were doing exactly that in the deepthot thread.

To be fair, even SA thinks DnD is full of crazies. If General Discussion didn't exist, we could easily draw comparisons to AnH and GBS.

EDIT: Actually, I deeply thought about it and I have to refute that Deep Thoughts is anything like Debate and Discussion.'

Unless of course you can find a mod of it who is an unironic Stalinist and gets no pushback for it, then you might get there.

Regardless, I looked at the thread and it doesn't look like a dogpile to me. It's Just Negrates.

I think the biggest issue with A&H is the line between real post and shitpost is blurred. In any other forum throwing a far-right/far-left idea out is usually taken as a joke or hyperbole but people have a tendency to take politics seriously on this board.
I don't think there's anything wrong with talking about politics if you want but it's important to remember that unless you're actually engaged in a convo with someone no one really gives a shit about your political beliefs. Just laugh/cry at the article and lament the coming future, make a shitpost about it and have fun.
 
I propose that if another Corbin sock pops up, give it the Bryan Dunn treatment. Somebody overrode and merged his socks and posted his real name and address on the main account.

@Null Two things. First, this section of the site, in the few incarnations I have seen, has always been a funhouse mirror of the real world. A lot of it resembles, or blatantly steals trash tier /pol/ meme smithing, because that is what the news, and the world, as it is attracts. Second, beyond the simple perfunctory adherence to the forum rules (legality, whatever), why would you care what is posted in a trash fire forum section mocking a trash fire world? Moderate forums that have some hope of having some on target discussion, and let this place be the crucible of autism and retardation it's evolution strives for relentlessly.

Yes, he got one mailed to his home address as well as every email address that we know of so that he could not claim in any way that he wasn't aware that he wasn't allowed on the site.
