Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

All this shitposting and reused memes in the a&h threads when we got a desert bus that's in need of reaching it's points.

do you guys know how many points we would have if all your garbage was posted in that thread instead? Probably double, or maybe triple.

Lurked for A&H, joined for Beauty Parlor. I’ve been reading passively for three years (drawn in by TheSpoonyOne). Have been reading most of the forum obsessively.

A&H is not a dumpster fire. It’s actually a very good back-and-forth comments section on current events. Deep Thoughts? *That’s* fucked.

The left wing posters need more tenacity, and you can’t legislate tenacity.

It’s not the site admin’s fault if people don’t read the thread/first post before commenting. Over the years I’ve gained great respect for Null and the place he has built here. All thanks to an autistic tranny I don’t give a shit about, apparently.

That's how stupid the people complaining about A&H are.

Even that was somewhat retarded. I had a post that I don't even remember deleted in that thread for being "China #1" propaganda", even though I've outright said that imperial Japan didn't go far enough with the Chinese. (and still think that. I hate the bug people.)

After reading through this thread I am of the opinion that most of the people complaining about A&H don't use A&H.
 
Also, let me add that the people who shit up threads especially on controversial subjects are often the same people every time. It's most hilarious when they edit their posts right after you call them out on it. This kind of behavior should be discouraged but I don't know how to effectively enforce something like that.

Okay, you know what? I come on here and read stuff when I literally have nothing else to do. Downtime at work? I'm reading. Browsing on the phone a bit in bed? Sure, I'm reading a little. Taking a shit? Damn right I'm doing some light reading. It never occurred to me that people take A&H so seriously has to demand reform and moderation because of either ratings or people posting stuff they don't like to personally read/see.

Look, I get it. It gets annoying when someone posts some autistic shit, then someone touches the shit and it gets flung back an forth for 10 pages. Recently I noticed that happen while keeping current in the Vic LCLLP thread. Holy shit what a snooze fest that turned into. Know what though? I don't bitch and moan, I don't jump into it, and I don't leave ratings. I roll my eyes and scroll on through until I get to something I like.

Yet only A&H gets called out for it. As for dog piling (what a stupid term to use for leaving ratings/comments), I've seen plenty of nignog and jewish conspiracy posts get down rated to oblivion for being stupid. Upset that people still make them in the first place? Too bad, I guess. Just roll your eyes and scroll past.

Finally, if it's really about "My political opinions don't feel validated here", idk, grow up.

Personally, I love the fact that it's largely freedom of speech here in A&H, and yeah you get the "niggers cause crime and this event is proof" or "impose socialism now and ban all guns" crowds now and then but it's always satisfying to watch them get butt blasted into oblivion for it. It only feels like a right wing circle jerk to some people because we don't do what most other boards do and ban people for having non-SJW opinions. Sorry but it's true.

This has happened to both me and an IRL friend on a different board so I can confirm this behavior is kinda widespread across the internet. A user from that board called my friend a "terrorist" because of a disagreement of political nature and didn't get banned for it. But I've been banned as well, for far less. So I kind of feel the mods were taking sides there and I'd rather this area stay as it is. Sure, it's kind of got an autistic wild west feel to it at times, but I'd rather deal with that than the threat of being penalized by the admins for an unpopular opinion. Plus, we all know who the usual bait posters are, anyway.
 
"Right wing" is a pretty diverse label anyway, I'd hardly call it a circle jerk. Libertards and fashy /pol/ boys have nothing in common with each other. And there are regular leftist posters.

That being said, I would appreciate some more genuine discussion, as it seems that there being a plurality of right-wingers here has lead to somewhat of a circlejerk. A few people being willing to play devil's advocate here and there would improve it that much more, as people would actually have to defend their viewpoints as opposed to just stating them without saying why.

Half these pricks probably couldn't name one single concentration camp, all things considered. I don't mind some leftist postings, but for some reason these kinds of boards attract the worst kinds of leftists because in other places they're used to getting their way. So they often have a sense of entitlement that goes along with their opinions. Not naming any names, but I'm sure we all know who I'm referencing here.

And yes, Orange Man Bad. Impeach the Bad Orange Man for being a man, and orange. And very, very bad. And "darling" politicians? Fuck 'em, they're all trash. It's best to avoid politics altogether, but sometimes that's not possible.
 
I just think with sufficient distance from two objects they start looking a lot closer together on the horizon. So leftists tend to see the "right" as a monolithic entity just as the more right leaning posters on this board tend to see the left that way. So while a community's tendency towards echochamber may be real, it's going to look exaggerated from the perspective of someone very far removed from the consensus.

Also net neutrality was bad, and abortion is good 99% of the time. Come at me.

It's become the nature of the internet to look at the title then comment without reading the article. It happens all over and A&H is no different. Youtube is full of people not even watching the damn video. You can't stop laziness getting worse. It's part of humanity's evolution into Wall-E space blobs. Only we'll be too lazy to build any ships and we'll just wallow in garbage all day on Earth.
