Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

I suppose technically speaking any board on the Farms would be like that, but A&H is naturally going to be centered around the two political "teams" going head-to-head. However, if you had pro-Amberlynn or pro-Chris or pro-DSP people popping into those sub-boards with any serious regularity, it would likewise descend into the same sort of crap-tossing festival. Honestly, I think it might actually be worse.

A&H just seems like it's the worst for in-fighting because it's the most bifurcated sub-forum on the website, where-as every other thread is generally everyone moving in the same direction. IE: "Fuck this person let's make fun of them." If people routinely showed up who opposed each of those sub-forums, I honestly think they'd be worse than A&H by leaps and bounds.

I think that she's baiting people. In the VA housing thread she argued against single family homes. Either she is a poor bitch who knows that she'll never own a house or a troll.

lmao she didn't argue against single family homes but against the idea that forcing expanded zoning laws on single-family only areas is anything besides textbook deregulation. This place is so knee-jerk that hearing someone use a word they like (deregulation) to describe an idea they don't like (bussing in poors) resulted in pages upon pages of spergery and angry stickers.

There were speds in that thread insisting that cities making it literally illegal to build anything besides a SFH on land you own was "the free market in action". It was hilarious.

Maybe that was what she meant. If so, I still think that you put more effort into making a coherent argument than she did.

I also know that some people were over reacting, but this is by the same guy who wants to send the National Guard to grab guns and supports post birth abortion. I feel that it's fair to not give him the benefit of the doubt on pretty much everything.

I wasn't as disgusted by the argument she made as I was by the way she made it. Defending her argument is missing the point as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe, but it makes for a great containment board and you do see a lot of interesting news articles all in one place.

The /pol/ tards and constant sperging over "muh Demographics is Destiny!" and "muh Jews" gets annoying at times, but it is a lot better than the alternative of not having a containment area on the site. I'd rather have the bulk of the /pol/ posting largely contained to a single board than have it shit up the entire forum all over.

The fall of Tumblr and how Twitter went from bad to exponentially worse is a prime example of why containment sites are a good thing.
