Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

New threads should be made like this.

I know this is a dumb question, but what is "A&H"? For some reason my mind thinks that's Articles & News?

Also, how does modding work? Do you guys run in shifts or set amounts of time? Or is it like the Ukraine foreign legion where you're perma-24/7-stuck in it?

Back in the day the Happenings subforum and the Articles & News subforum were one and the same, called Articles & Happenings (colloquially, A&H). Since the subforums come from that similar root there's a lot of overlap in the culture between them. Although that's been starting to change gradually too I've noticed, and these days you'll have some posters that only post in Happenings and avoid Articles & News, and vice versa. But yeah, whenever someone mentions A&H or A&N they're generally referring to either (or both) of those subforums.

Also, how does modding work?
For free.

I thought A&H stood for Autistics & Hohols, or, alternately, Aspergers & Hogan

Good. You should be ignoring most of that shit anyway. It's funny stuff and members that don't like it can ignore it the old fashioned way or be pussies and use the ignore feature. Fedposting isn't even real. It was made up like, two years ago to categorize and stigmatize what used to be called "posting". At this rate it won't be long before we're going to be removing people from threads for using improper pronouns.

Be more like Secret Asshole. Be a laid back janny that deletes shit like CP and gets into the fight and calls faggot users faggots instead of banning them.
Do not be like L50 who seemed to be walking around with a blindfold and a shotgun.

Or. If Null really has a problem with it and doesn't like how things are panning out, nut the fuck up and just close the forum subsection already. The longer you leave it go the harder it will be to close it without more user backlash; and you're going to be closing it eventually anyway, that much is clear. This subforum's days are numbered. Just pop the cherry already, big boy. :null:
Tbh, I am pretty laid back and usually let people say whatever, though if they post shit like CP, yeah, you're getting vanned from me and reported to the FBI and the center for missing and lost children.

Thankfully not any of that. The only other thing I will delete is incomprehensible run on sentence posts.

Besides that beat the fuck out of each other, I don't give a shit.

EDIT:
And when I say fed posting, I mean violating the principle of clear and present danger as defined by the Supreme Court, which IS illegal and not protected speech. Oh and threatening elected officals. I'd rather not have the Secret Service or FBI calling me.

Follow up, is there a training program for moderators and how many PowerPoint presentations is it?

A&H articles outside of megathreads don't need to have replies. You can easily guess what every single response to a thread will be just from the headline. This isn't an actual suggestion to remove replies from threads, I'm just whining.
To be fair, I don't come here to get my news. I come here to bitch and moan about it. Cutting off replies gives it an aire of journalism that shouldn't be there.

also the replies sometimes get some good insight under the hood about what's going on behind the story (other than TEH J00Z), like nuts-and-bolts shit because Random Guy posts about how he worked a gig at that place and why it's all shit/legit, or gets into other interesting tangent
