Shots fired after federal police in Minneapolis struggle to subdue man brandishing gun amid protests, video shows​

Shots rang out in Minneapolis early Saturday after federal police tried to subdue a man who was waving around a gun, according to law enforcement sources and video posted to social media.

A 39-second clip showed about half a dozen cops struggling with someone on the sidewalk in front of a donut shop at 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue, when the gunfire erupted.

The officers appeared to scatter after the barrage of shots went off, according to the footage.



The shooting happened after the man brandished a firearm with two magazines, a law enforcement source told The Post, sharing a photo of the firearm.

In a statement, city officials urged residents to stay calm and avoid the area.


“We are aware of reports of another shooting involving federal law enforcement in the area of 26th Street W and Nicollet Ave. We are working to confirm additional details,” the statement said.

More than 100 protesters had been at the scene when the encounter occurred. The man’s condition was not immediately known.





On Friday, protesters yelled obscenities at two people wearing plain clothes who they believed to be agents after protesters claimed their rental car was linked to the incident, according to video reviewed by The Post.

Neither person was an officer.



Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) posted about the incident on X late morning Saturday as the details of the shooting were still unfolding.

“I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening,” he wrote.

“The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”


Neither the White House or the Department of Homeland Security have said what precipitated the shooting, and did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

As I'm sure we realize, this is why Walz is willing to risk the Insurrection Act and continually ups the pressure on Trump in spite of failing every which way.

There have been 11 governors that have gone to pound-me-in-the-ass prison for corruption. Walz knows he'll be number 12 if he can't bury the Somali fraud issue quickly. Gov. Blagovich got sentenced to 14 yrs and probably did less than Walz.

I watched the 2-3 seconds at 25% speed with the sound muted because I'm listening to Metokur. Watched it a half-dozen times. Thought I saw the little "jump" on the gun. Played it a couple more times. "Hmmm.... is that what SCUD was referring to?" Back up clip a couple seconds. Mute Metokur. Unmute video, still at 25%. "BANG!" right as the gun jumps. I literally yell "Holy SHIT!"

I think there is a VERY strong chance that this is exactly what happened.

ETA, as something of a caveat/disclaimer, I don't think I see any kind of muzzle flash (not uncommon if it happened between frames), and I tried to see if I could spot any little puff or chip where the bullet may have hit the ground and I don't think I see anything in that regard.

I'll try, here's the 10 frames that are coincident to the shot going off, one is a duplicate where I point out from the frame prior what is either an artifact or a bullet impact by pointing arrows at it. I didn't see a distinct puff of dust from the gun that could easily be distinguished from artifacting, but frame by frame analysis has its own biases that seep in without seeing things at the speed they were recorded at.

It's some issue to do with uploading images over TOR iirc, if you upload the image by selecting the image data and pasting it into the post it should work but isn't nearly as convenient.

It looks like the officers DID fuck up this time (not because they are 'evil nazi killers', just human error), but the left has cried wolf so many times, I think a lot of people will share your sentiment. This would be totally preventable.

I think the left are shooting themselves in the foot. They need to de-escalate.
This won't play out like the saint Floyd's riots. Trump has nothing to lose now, and I feel like he is one catastrophic event away crossing the rubicon - if this escalates into a big riot, or the stock market crashes, or China/Iran/Russia get uppity... things could get really bad really fast.

I decided to look at the footage myself and see if I can notice anything. Wasn't seeing much as it was even zoomed in so I decided to negate the color and watch frame by frame. Seems like a muzzle flash from the looks of it.

EDIT: Wow okay was not expecting that. It does not like being shared on this forum. Maybe has to do with the negate color? Pretty weird as it shows up fine on everything else I've posted it on.

Fuck it. I'll put it in a zip. Hopefully doesn't get corrupt through that.

Looks like the guy in green wearing jeans may have accidentally discharged a round into Pretti after the other agent in grey disarmed him and then after thinking about it for a second, decided to just continue firing away. (:11 and :56 marks). Basically bad trigger control that he then tried to cover up.
