Shots fired after federal police in Minneapolis struggle to subdue man brandishing gun amid protests, video shows​

Shots rang out in Minneapolis early Saturday after federal police tried to subdue a man who was waving around a gun, according to law enforcement sources and video posted to social media.

A 39-second clip showed about half a dozen cops struggling with someone on the sidewalk in front of a donut shop at 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue, when the gunfire erupted.

The officers appeared to scatter after the barrage of shots went off, according to the footage.



The shooting happened after the man brandished a firearm with two magazines, a law enforcement source told The Post, sharing a photo of the firearm.

In a statement, city officials urged residents to stay calm and avoid the area.


“We are aware of reports of another shooting involving federal law enforcement in the area of 26th Street W and Nicollet Ave. We are working to confirm additional details,” the statement said.

More than 100 protesters had been at the scene when the encounter occurred. The man’s condition was not immediately known.





On Friday, protesters yelled obscenities at two people wearing plain clothes who they believed to be agents after protesters claimed their rental car was linked to the incident, according to video reviewed by The Post.

Neither person was an officer.



Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) posted about the incident on X late morning Saturday as the details of the shooting were still unfolding.

“I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening,” he wrote.

“The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”


Neither the White House or the Department of Homeland Security have said what precipitated the shooting, and did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

All I've seen is a video right before the shooting and a blurry video midway through struggle that has red circles claiming this or that hand on one of the agents has no gun or has a gun but doesn't show anything for the man himself. Where is the ironclad proof half the people here seem to have seen that he was unarmed through the entire struggle?

Having said that if you are armed and start a physical confrontation with law officers you vastly increase your chances of getting shot whether you physically reach for your gun or not. Thats been the case forever. I don't understand retards who are claiming this is a new thing.

I just want the protesters gunned down safely and legally. The news about the ICE agent getting his finger bitten off is horrifying. They need to kill more communists before anybody else gets hurt.

Personally, I don't care.

ICE is in the right, people who don't like them are in the wrong.

The people who hate ICE would never be fair about this, so why should I?

The protesters shouldn't even be there.

I was against the the federal government arresting January 6th protesters. However, I couldn't protest their actions by disrupting a raid, blowing my whistle to alert the criminals, and so on.

Prediction: many more people will die.
 
The fact is resisting arrest with a cop while trying to pull out your gun is going to lead to you being shot. Also lets not pretend if he did get his gun out and killed a few ICE agents these same people would be cheering and celebrating.

I also just saw a report that one of the admins of the Signal chat that coordinates all this stuff was a campaign strategist for Tim Walz....shocker I know.

I'll have to find the angle where it apparently shows an ICE agent disarming the guy. As far as I have read the guy didn't threaten verbally or brandish the gun. If simply having a gun on your person, a legally obtained, CCW license, is enough for a fake officer to shoot you then there is no Second Admendment.

Legally, An armed individual (even if they are not physically holding the gun at the moment) grants officers a vastly enhanced legal latitude to use deadly force. There are so many ways an 'unarmed' person with a gun can become armed in a split second. Its been this way forever.

I don't understand those who are having a difficult time comprehending this concept or who think this is a vastly new thing.

Maybe there's better resolution but at .25x of that video I can't see the slide move or an impact on the ground where it was aiming- could just be the way his arm is moving?

There's a side by side earlier in the thread but the video of the disarm itself is here. I don't think anything shows the suspect actually trying to (suicidally) draw it.
