Kinda surprised that it took so long for an Egoraptor thread to be made.
God that name takes me back. I even met the guy a couple of times.
Tbh, I hate how on-and-off I am with him. Sometimes I can't really stand the way he talks, but other times I feel like nowadays, he's just alright.
A lot of people fall back on the "Oh, he's just portraying a character on GG" excuse, but I feel like his anger, no matter how exaggerated it is on camera, is still a bit of an issue that seems like it was never looked into.

Like a lot of others here have mentioned, I've moved onto Oneyplays because of how Chris handles it; he doesn't treat it like a business, his guests are actual friends, he doesn't censor himself, and he knows when things are meant to be humorous. I follow his Twitter and he does NOT cave in to shit. Not the most graceful guy, but I still quite like him.

Also, Arin don't know shit about games.

As a Sonic fan who likes the Adventure titles Arin’s Playthroughs are laughably bad and down right insulting to fans. Why watch him when you could just watch actual fans of the franchise play the games instead SuperGamingBrothers or Brainscratch are better than the Grumps. They have chemistry together and are actually good at games. At this point it’s easy to ignore the Grumps since their views are dwindling.

It was just during their Adventure playthroughs it would be hard because Grumps fans would go into Sonic tags and talk about how bad the games were without playing them.

I’m more than aware that the first Adventure game and some of Adventure 2 haven’t aged well. Despite not being perfect they’re fun games. Just wanted to acknowledge that I agree the games shouldn’t be immune to criticism. Either way games don’t have to be perfect or masterpieces to be fun.

Eh, Dunkey's a funny guy, even if he'll occasionally spout a dumb hot take (like calling Octopath Traveller a bad game just because he dislikes turn-based JRPGs), but I personally prefer to watch him in small doses, due to how similar some of his videos can be. However, I will definitely say that I respect Dunk way more than Arin these days. Comparing Dunk and modern Arin is a lot like comparing modern James Rolfe with modern Doug Walker, while the former can ocassionally make a shit video, he still seems to enjoy what he makes, meanwhile the latter has basically been going through the motions since like 2014

Honestly I don’t think DD&J are all that relevant to the discussion, apart from that one drama. I think OneyPlays keeps coming up because it’s just a better alternative to GG that’s more fun to discuss.

On Ross, he has a fairly annoying personality and seems to have issues understanding other peoples' perspectives. In the Mario Maker series they play his levels and they're designed to be frustratingly hard, some levels only have a 5% pass rate IIRC. Also, when the crew was playing Fortune Street, Ross routinely took forever to take his turn and that slowed the flow of the game. All in all, Ross is the type of guy who will annoy someone for a laugh. Finally, they did a special about the crew getting into World of Warcraft, and Ross bought them all high level characters and rare gear and stuff. His wife even chastised him because no newbie to MMOs is going to appreciate the time and effort it takes to get to max level or have a mount very few others have, and they aren't going to know what to do if you start them off at high level, especially since guys like Arin don't like to read quest descriptions or instructions.

So in addition to his entertainment avenues failing, Holly could very well be dealing with a less severe manchild/someone's who better at hiding it (I mean he admitted to getting married in Doctor Who cosplay FFS), and that might have built up over the years to where she just couldn't tolerate being with him anymore.

Unrelated but the World of Warcraft thing was completely Ross idea, it was all rigged from the start so he wins a "bet" and donates the money to one of his guild members who was dying of cancer. Rewatching now in hindsight, Arin was so lazy and uninterested the whole thing, he clearly didn't care about it.

AFAIK Ross was the only person on Game Grumps i ever seen be open to criticism, he would go to the comments and subreddit to adress it and he never guilt tripped anyone. When he left he admitted it was because he wanst having fun and would rather work on something he loves (animation). In other words, he's the opposite of Arin.

btw Holly is more "fragile" than most people think. Her tumblr had a lot of depressive low self steem stuff. One curious thing about Holly is that she would hate to be called a grump and would implore the fans not to call her that. We never knew why but me and others theorize it's because Holly was always more popular than Suzy, so Suzy and/or Arin might have "put her in her place".

The last part is conspiracy but we know Suzy can be a huge bitch and she has full control over Arin. When Ninja Brian recorded with Suzy, he would joke at her expense most of the episode. After that day (i think) Brian never came back to the channel.

Fan fact: after that series, they've mysteriously never credited anyone for sending in games ever again (but are absolutely glad to ask for a $500 Flinstones game whenever they see fit, despite living in an office so gaudy and expensive it would make Richie Rich blush).

It's always bugged me when they make jokes about fans sending in insanely expensive games, or even when they plug shit at the start of an episode. I know, they need to make money somehow and advertising things like Crunchyroll helps, but Jesus Christ their office is packed full of expensive toys, arcade cabinets, and an insane amount of pricey collectibles. Arin went batshit insane when they got the new Grumps office.

Well considering his Sonic 06 playthrough is what put him on the map it makes sense he tries to replicate it.

Too bad for him the other Sonic games that roughly are as bad as 06 are: Boom WiiU which he played that already (he screeches in the first 10 seconds and I couldn't watch past that), Sonic and the Secret Rings/Black Knight (which aren't glitchy, just unfun. Black Knight is the better of the two.), and arguably Sonic Unleashed (which is more so just bad pacing).

I really wish the Sonic social media accounts would stop mentioning him altogether.

I still honestly think the Adventure games are fun and pretty good games. They're ugly and whatever but I can still put myself in the mindset of the time and enjoy them. I like emerald hunting, Mad Space haters can get good.
