Mm. They went from an 8+4 layout with the M2 Pro, to a 6+6 layout with the M3 Pro.

I'd note that the guy who noticed it is a hilariously unreliable source, and is co-creator of MaxTech.
It's a sad story because their M1 Mac reviews were goddamn solid, but after that, they lost their fucking minds and went to clickbait drivel.
 
NY Times really wants normies to own Apples for some reason. Seems to be literally all they're recommending.

Is there a good source of Apple news out there that you know of? I dont follow tech as much anymore so I have no clue who to believe since most journalists have zero integrity nowadays.

The only Apple product worth the money is Apple TV, because Android TV sticks are either shit that don't support Dolby Atmos, DD+, DTS:X, and/or HDR+, Dolby Vision. Those who support it, like the Nvidia Shield are expensive as fuck. Other than that all Apple products are overpriced and unfixable e-waste.

I think their desktops are their only product worth paying retail for. I love their laptops but they're massively overpriced and underpowered and the main reason you'd have one is to use it in public. The lower end iPhones are actually comparatively reasonable, and I'm kind of stuck with them because all my apps are on them, also I can't stand Android.

But I don't think Apple TV is worth it. And all their weird "me too" products that serve no market. Which I guess the market thinks too because I never see anyone with bullshit like the Apple watch.

Memory capacity being smaller isn't a valid excuse to start shilling the bandwidth and latency. Besides, one of those touted features (memory compression) is literally present in the other major operating systems, Windows and GNU/Linux. Memory compression is possible in anything with virtual memory (any desktop computer younger than about 30 years old, FYI) and is implemented in the operating system kernel. But hey, Apple marketing loves to tout basic shit that people have been using for years as revolutionary and people just buy it!

Edit: They aren't even shilling bandwidth and latency that much, they mostly just say, "Well our RAM is 2x as good because of the OS!1"

Meanwhile the OS itself eats up immense amounts of RAM in bells and whistles and cute looking stuff. Not gonna lie, that stuff looks great, but you're taking a performance hit for it if you don't disable as much of it as you can.

They could get away with bells and whistles if they did it right. My Plasma 5 desktop is currently using about 1 GiB, and even it isn't at the peak of optimization. I even think it's caching shit due to my large amounts of free memory. Fancy background blurs and smooth animations don't take up massive amounts of RAM by themselves, but they do with modern development practices. Doesn't Windows have a Chromium-based taskbar now? :story:
