The federal government needs to fund the de-programming of white supremacists and conspiracy theorists, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Friday night.

“The White supremacist cause is futile, it’s nihilist,” AOC, a Democrat who represents parts of The Bronx and Queens, said during a virtual town hall meeting Friday night.

“Their world will never exist. That’s why we’re seeing violence right now.,” she said, speaking in the wake of the violent siege on the US Capitol by radical supporters of President Trump.

“We have to pick up those pieces.”

Ocasio-Cortez said the House subcommittee on civil rights she serves on has held hearings over the prior two years on white supremacy and said there are programs to “de-radicalize” brain-washed adherents.

But she said funding was not a priority for those programs during the Trump years.

“There are people who are radicalized right now. It’s going to take a very long time to de-radicalize these people and a lot of effort,” she said.

“This is a problem that doesn’t go away on Jan. 20,” said the congresswoman, referring to when Trump leaves the White House and is succeeded by President-elect Joe Biden.

She said many fringe radicals operate in a “misinformation bubble” and it will take more than more than one conversation to de-program them, likening it to therapy.

But, she said, research has shown “healing is possible.”

“We need to double, triple or quadruple the funding for these programs,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

AOC said there is a spectrum of radicalization that ranges from sympathizers to conspiracy theorists, to Neo-Nazis. Such radical ideology could lead to violence and domestic terrorism.

She said the conspiracy theory wrongly pushed by Trump that the election was stolen from him radicalized his supporters who invaded the Capitol last week, leading to violence and the death of five people. AOC said she felt her life was threatened.

Glad that rather learning from the Capitol hill experience, AOC has doubled down on her politics, the same ones that likely had a large part in people getting so frustrated they protested.

I'm starting to think there's a fetish for fugly puerto rican Socialists

It's hard to believe there's a housing crisis in America when AOC lives in these people's head rent free.
To be fair, is she the most uncontested liberal district and most gerrymandering?
If I remember correctly the most Democrat district in America was also in the Bronx (NY-15) so you're not far off.

I remember it for having a Congressman that looked like Borat until very recently.
trans genocide
Which is a doubly exceptional phrase to use because troons aren't an ethnic group or a culture.
Once they started calling Ben Shapiro a white supremacist, the term lost all meaning.
Calling Ben Shapiro a white supremacist is like calling Ilhan Omar a Zionist.

Will people be paid to undertake these programs? I'm sure there's lots of people who would be more than happy to designate themselves as 'white supremacists' if it means an extra 300-500 a week, or fortnightly.
Lmao it'll be like UBI but only for people who say nigger on the internet.

Funny enough she's backing rent strikes.
Housing is a basic human right why should people have to pay for rent
Some rich leftist probably

Man I adore the notion that huwite supremacists only arrived at that point due to being "programmed to hate" and not because they're seeing shit happen with their own eyes and arriving at their own conclusions about how to approach the world. Remember, would-be Nahtzees, you're just faulty computers, return to central processing for correction and reprogramming. :Story:

To be fair, programs to allow former white supremacists to safely get away from the groups they belonged to and start new lives would be a good thing, since white supremacist prison gangs especially like to get violent with defectors. That said knowing AOC what she's proposing has nothing to do with that.

If a "white supremacist" is successfully "deprogramed", does that mean they actually get to have a job or go to school without a cancel mob trying to get them fired or expelled for shit they said or did years ago? Or does some kid that said the gamer word at age 12 still have to face tougher consequences than convicted sex offenders?

Also why are they lumping conspiracy theorists in with white supremacists? Sure there's some overlap, but more conspiracy theorists than not probably aren't white supremacists. Trying to "deprogram" a conspiracy theorist is also almost certainly going to have the opposite effect, especially if it's the government doing it.
Do you fail to notice that these progressive types never go after Aryan Brotherhood members?

Their idea of a Nazi is someone who doesn't vote Democrat down the ticket.

It’s meaningless. It’s slung around so much it means nothing. The knitting site (yes, knitting, wool/old ladies/pleasant and useful pastime) ‘Ravelry’ evicted anyone who supported Trump a year or so back. (It then turned out the site owner trooned out, so double madness, we have a thread on it somewhere.) The whole knitting online world was convulsed with accusations of white supremacy. People were harassed, businesses were destroyed.
This was the thing that truly red pilled me. If you can create an impression/movement that makes people believe that nice middle aged Scottish and Norwegian ladies knitting gloves for their kids and grandkids are evul Nazis, then literally nowhere and no one is safe from this kind of ideological purge. It’s surreal and hilarious on one level, and kind of frightening on another
Edit: the reason ravelry kicked out anyone conservative was that they said they were white supremacists. Fucking barmy
iirc, right after the government lockdown, there was a sweep across PTSD boards telling anyone pro-Trump to GTFO, generally the reason was that if you support Trump, you are causing PTSD yourself.

It's everywhere. Free Speech is white supremacy ffs.

Even the Chick-fil-a thing is such nonsense. "OMG we must take the battle to shitty fast food!"

There is literally nothing they can't find "problematic", not a single thing. It starts to look like Leviticus:

"And he who wears skinny jeans of mixed fabric from such and such retailer shall be hounded unto the tenth generation, and their crops salted with the tears of the righteous."

You should see what they've done to the classic rock and metal scenes. Even Sebastian fucking Bach is on the verge of trooning out any day now. You go to online rags like Blabbermouth or Metal Injection, and the articles are about the bands and singers in headline only. Everything after that is a solid wall screeching about some verboten word Ted Nugent or Phil Anselmo might have drunkenly mumbled onstage one night thirty-five years ago, and the comments are a literal lynch mob.

You can't tell me it's not some inside takedown. Those bands and scenes used to belong to working-class macho guys who would have ground the wokes into cube steak with their bare hands. Now, all of a sudden, it's gone poz?
