Christopher Judge however...
View attachment 8329947
Jackson turned himself into a white woman. Now Judge is turning himself into a thai ladyboy. What is it with black dudes with a last name starting with J and turning themselves into plastic parodies?

edit: that's Jackson as in Michael, not Jackson as in Daniel (played by Michael. Shanks, not Jackson)

Gateworld is having an interview with the new showrunner. I don't have much hope but maybe he can spin it in a better light. The stargate fandom was small enough to not get colonized and is actually quite vocal about the nonsense pushed by amazon and such.

This faggot will make O'Neil a sexpest, Carter a secret lesbian, Daniel become trans and Teal'c spout BLM shit.
it will be the heaviest handed writing ever seen and the main villain will be a Trump insert because these hack frauds have no talent.

Dang, didn't know there was a dedicated SG thread here. I'm currently in the middle of re-watching all of SG-1 (and plan to segue into Atlantis after season 7), I thought Amazon Prime was supposed to pull them for MGM+ or whatever, but it's all still available so I've been taking advantage of it.

Also, kinda dumb, but I'd really like to bitch about the quality of the episodes streaming on Prime. Seasons 1-5 are about the quality of the old DVDs, they're not interlaced thankfully but they feel a tad bit more compressed. Season 6 was a massive step up in visual quality for some reason, genuinely better than the blu-rays as none of it was DNR'd to death, but holy fuck something's wrong with Season 7. The PQ is far worse than the DVDs and I swear all the audio is in mono. The different language tracks are all in stereo, but the default English audio is mono in every episode so far. Amazon claims it's 5.1 but no, it is absolutely not.

Whatever you do DON'T buy the blu-ray of SG-1. They used an AI upscale that muddies the picture and looks like fucking garbage.

The first 2 seasons look really bad in the remastered version because they thought it was a good idea to remove the film grain that came naturally with the film itself so everything looks soft, actors now look like wax figures.

If you can rip the actual discs or pirate, you should. The compression on the streaming sites like Prime Video or Netflix is quite bad, especially with standard definition shows and movies, the audio too. At least with a ripped or pirated copy you can have actual 5.1 audio.

Some autist actually began remastering each episode and made it up to season 7 before being copyright struck.
If I can find it I'll post it, it was a blog.

Interesting. The poor quality on my massive 4k TV is why I haven't rewatched. I do own the DVDs though. I should see how it looks. Samsung have a Stargate TV channel at the moment and they look terrible. I assume that is below whatever streaming services have them in my shithole country.

Yeah, I think I posted it in this thread too. He should have released everything on torrent instead of advertising it while it was a work in progress.

The first 2 (maybe 3) were shot on 16mm film, around 3 or 4 they swapped to 35mm, so the earlier seasons are supposed to be extra grainy. I followed along the blu-ray.com threads when the BR set first dropped, what a shit show that was. IIRC this was pre-Amazon buyout, so MGM were essentially liquidating distribution licenses to the lowest bidders, and SG-1 was unfortunately saddled with one of the worst of the worst. The only thing the blurays got right was Season 1 getting a proper 5.1 mix for the first time, and ironically it was the only season with actually working 5.1 mixes lmao

Honestly, the original run of DVDs hold up surprisingly well for being, well, DVD. Miles better than some older shows I have on DVD, like DS9 or MacGyver...really been meaning to pick up the blu-ray set for Mac, that was a fantastic remaster.

Went to family's place over the holidays and saw an episode playing on TV, the quality looked like it was an old VHS being played it was so bad. Still watched it, though.

For some reason the channel that keeps showing it on TV uses the 4:3 poor quality version and not the 16:9 DVD quality version of the episodes. It sounds like that's the same with streaming.
I'm glad I pirated the DVD rips long ago on the high seas. I'm sure a new H265 rip would be higher quality and lower file size, but it works for me.

Sounds like the network syndication masters. 4:3, hard fade outs/fade ins for commercial breaks, real nasty quality. Prime used to use those years ago before upgrading to whatever they're using now. They may still use the syndication version of the pilot, though, due to the nudity. Shame that the Final Cut edition isn't available anywhere, these days you'd either have to hunt down the OOP DVD or just pirate it.

Had to break out the DVDs to finish off Season 7, thankfully Season 8 on Prime seems to use proper 1080p masters and it looks great so far. Still no clue how they fucked up 7 so bad but oh well.
I liked the movie with James Spader, but the shows with fucking McGuyver weren't my thing.
There will be no disrespect to the king of 80s mullets in this house

I remember being a wee lad and watching some dude with a cool mullet refuse to use guns on TV and instead turn to gum wrappers and hairspray. Even non-political child-me knew that was some bullshit.

Reached the tipping point for SG1 (Season 9) and hoo boy am I not looking forward to it. I remember nothing from these final seasons but the sinking feeling of disappointment.
Honestly with the way Season 8 finished, I would've been fine if the show ended there. Had to bend over backwards to find a good copy of the full cut of Threads, but damn it was such a satisfying way to wrap things up. The wide shot of all four OG's coming together to fish at O'Neill's cabin, just a perfect endcap. Moebius was fine, kinda hokey, definitely a little ham-fisted in how it tried to tie into Atlantis' S1 finale, and it's ending was a total rehash of Threads', but the fish got a good laugh out of me. Good enough, The End, roll credits.

Season 9 should have just been another show with everything that changed after Season 8.
