Any [BASED(?)] games? - Not sure how to define this vibe. Based? Chauvinist? Romantic? Glorious?

I recommend the Grasshopper EXPERIENCE Shadows of the Damned. Suda51 and Shinji Mikami collabed on it, it feels like the essence of 2008 machismo with a heavy helping of over-the-top innuendo that you would expect from Suda51. The gameplay has some sections that are kinda rough but if the sense of humour is up your alley, it is a must-play.
Same with God hand, although it is lacking the Suda51 touch in general (he didn't work on it) it is very No More Heroes before NMH was cooked up.
Saints Row, the first one.
Controls are kind of ass and they kept me from fully sinking my teeth into it, but Saints Row 2 is also a worthy title to put in this thread.
Saints Row 3 and 4 are still kind of based(?) but nothing like the first two games and they are less dark and much more comical. I can't recommend 4 at all unless 3 really vibes with you, they cranked the goofy scale up from 10 to 11, and yet somehow they managed to put in early signs of wokeness IMHO without going full Saints Row reboot. You can still kick people's ass with a giant dildo bat, so there's at least that.

No ass
No woke shit
Just you doing the most American shit imaginable: breaking space and time with a truck
You are winner.

It's in smaller scale and for less noble cause but The Warriors seems to fit here, there's even a few fights where it's basically 2 men vs 100 men that reminds me of this meme.
The Warriors is a controller killer with all that spinning the sticks taking screws out to steal car stereos.

Duke Nukem 3D. Nobody steals our chicks and lives. It's a very fun game. Lone hero kicks alien ass and saves the (babes)world.
I even liked the 2D platformers. I still remember the sound effects.

This and the Kong game were absolute trash, but in a good way.

Hammerfight is pretty high in the based department.

Conspiracy, betrayal, revenge, pyrrhic victories, coliseum fighting, accolades, and smashing things with a big rock.

I am happy the developers found some major success with Highfleet because Hammerfight has been one of my all time favorite games since it came out and now more people know about it.

To save our mother Earth from any alien attack!
From vicious giant insects who have once again come back!
We'll unleash all our forces, we won't cut them any slack!
The EDF deploys!

Anyway, play the Earth Defense Force series, they're all very fun even if the highest difficulty, Inferno, can be a complete nightmare at times. This is 4.1 specifically, but it goes up to EDF 6, not including the four main spinoffs. The more recent games even let you beat the shit out of kaiju with giant mecha in some of the missions, shown here.

Shadows of the Damned had a great soundtrack too.

This is a tangent worthy of its own deep thot, but when people say “based”, I think what they are trying to convey is a very complex idea like “Arete”, pronounce like are-a-tee

When someone gives high praise, and they say “based”, I think this is what they mean without knowing it.

I’ve only played a few of those games, but they are about heroism and other grand, theatrical ideals. Mere mortals going up against gods and god-like beings, enduring baleful pain to reach their goal, and becoming stronger along this journey. All aspects of arete, heroes realizing their true powerful potential.
THANK YOU! I put "based" in quotes because I couldn't well articulate the vibe I'm describing, but arete is pretty close to what I mean.
>includes Space Marine 2
>doesn't add the first one

Very fucking gay OP.
I'll be honest, I just included 2 because it embodied the feeling far better than the first. Still was a great game though, glad it got a sequel.

Weirdly enough, the entirety of Dispatch is “Chad hetero white dude sorts out the minoriteam’s dysfunctional shit while also dicking down an Amazon and getting the resident Bad Girl (tm) hot and bothered enough to turn good.” You also beat the ever-loving shit out of the only openly gay character.

Fully expect them to drop the ball if they do a season 2, though.
