Beato is right, there is a certain magic of the physical connection and mastery you get by playing real instruments that you don't get by using computers. You're never going to have a Mozart without his mastery of the piano and his beautiful playing was documented by people that lived near him and heard it in the flesh. Technology also leads to natural barriers being broken down that were key in gatekeeping in the music industry, now anyone can vomit garbage onto the Internet and call it music. It's the same point Nietzsche makes with "Every one being allowed to learn to read, ruineth in the long run not only writing but also thinking." The internet drowns out the good art below limitless piles of garbage, eventually garbage becomes the norm and creates a generation that doesn't know real quality, the new generation becomes a crisis of competence, repeat in a downward spiral.
“True ease in writing comes from art, not chance,
As those move easiest who have learn'd to dance.”
― Alexander Pope, An Essay On Criticism

And a reason why English poetry is so self-obsessed and in the toilet. There is some great free verse but all is written by poets aware of and responding to rhythm and metre. Now all writing is poetry, it has been democratised so no genuine standards are made beyond the natural critical instinct in a man's gut (a reason why Larkin is often quoted and his contemporaries are not, people know what is good). I think music has went through much the same. Schoenberg has not retained the popularity he once had. Not to say he was untalented, unlike some composers now, but his most famous works tend to be a waste of his skills.

Against literally everyone's expectations, Kanye has released Vultures 2. I hope we get to watch another meltdown from this bald faggot like last time.

Female vocalists can be great, but I don't really understand liking Charli XCX's music if you're not gay, a troon, on party drugs, or some combination of the aforementioned.
I never understood her appeal, it always seemed like she just took what more interesting (and lesser known) hyperpop artists were doing watered it down for a more mainstream audience. I don't think her music is really bad, I just don't think it's anything special either.

I've heard stuff from her new album and it just sounds bland. Just like Crystal Castles with a female vocalist and pop songwriting.

I've listened to some of the stuff he's given 10's to in my own time and it's been hit or miss.

The Money Store was just really fucking annoying, I never got the appeal of Death Grips and I don't think I ever will. I like shit in that vein like Dalek (From Filthy Tounges of Gods and Griots specifically) and Yeezus, but I've never enjoyed Death Grips.

TPAB was boring and preachy aside from Poetic Justice, ironically enough. That's probably the only Kendrick song I've ever actually liked.

You Won't Get What You Want was fucking great and was easily the best album he's given this high of a rating to. I also enjoyed a lot of Swans's work from the 80's and 90's but I haven't gotten around to listening to their newer stuff.

I haven't listened to Sinner Get Ready but I've heard some of Lingua Ignota's other work thinking it would sound a lot more like Coil, but it was just ass. Same issue I have with Death Grips where it's just annoying and loud without any actual substance.

In general, though, Fantano's reviews are just terrible. People point to the MBDTF review as a good example, but there's a lot more. He shit on Swimming by Mac Miller before heel-turning when Mac died. His takes on modern ATL rap are fucking awful though. He blasted Destroy Lonley and Ken Carson and gave WLR a 6/10 before turning around and giving the most boring Yeat album I've ever heard in my entire life an 8. He gave Yeezus a 5. I haven't watched his videos in years but every so often I'll see parts of his reviews popping up for albums I actually like and it's just infuriating how consistently wrong he is.

Having your opinion be affected by someone's death is an incredibly dishonest and pussy move.

Like Linkin Parks last album. It sucks Chester Bennington died, I get it, depression sucks ass, but it was still an awful album and his death wasn't going to change my opinion.

I think a lot of her appeal is due to her being her. In a lot of ways she reminds me of Gen Z's version of Lady Gaga. It's not that they look alike or make the exact kind of pop music, but they're both kind of in that "Just alternative (both in looks and musical product) to still be palatable to mostly everyone who likes the biggest by the numbers pop act" space.

They're both decent looking but not in that super broad way like a Taylor Swift or early-2000s Britney Spears; XCX also gets some "ethnic" credibility too since she's half Indian. They both are super well known for being vocal allies to the LGBTQ crowd (Gaga with the gay crowd while XCX is vocally for the troons.)

You answered yourself plus what @Local Fed wrote. It's vanilla shit you listen when you enter a shopping centre store catered to girls that thinks Lana del Rey and Marina are too much. And yes, Charlie has been out there for THAT long, kids these days listen to Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eillish.

Power leveling is revealing personal information about yourself that is embarrassing or incriminating. This is just your opinion.

Death grips is one of those bands you have to relisten to a few times to really get into. The first time I heard them I had the same reaction as you. I went back and listened to the entirety of Exmilitary and it is great. Fantastic workout hype music. I guess the appeal to me is just the raw energy of the music. It's kind of like a fusion of punk and rap. I get why people might not enjoy it it's extremely abrasive and loud music not to everyone's taste but I personally really enjoy it.

When he hurt his voice he had to change the type of music he made and it completely destroyed their sound. I do enjoy some late stage Linkin Park songs but a lot of them have aged very poorly. Doesn’t make Chester’s death any less tragic though

I do get why people like it, it just wasn’t for me. I do enjoy that style of abrasive industrial/noise related music so I just figured I’d like it more than I did

Jumped around Anthony's whining but from what I've gathered this album sounds like Kanye's attempt at mobile live-service gaming the music streaming market. A pioneer unlike any other.

Starting around 5:56: Again, with the quality level that this is at, we're no longer getting, like, a cool behind the scenes look into the process of his creativity and how he brings things from a rough idea into a complete idea. [1] No, what's happening now is that he doesn't give a fuck and he'll pretty much put out anything. Even the musical equivalent of a turd. [2]

[1] One would assume shit like that would be saved for documentaries, YouTube videos meant to harvest a parasocial connection and make you feel like you're totally in there with the artist, maybe a TikTok video. But it was accepted once; if he keeps doing it, it is no one's fault but his enablers. Standards, people, find them.

[2] Funny. I'm sure a lot of people would claim this is true for the majority of pop(ular) music since the beginning of time, but I have this weird feeling he wouldn't say this about a song like oh, I don't know, Unholy Amholes by Fatty Frank & Transitionstein. Wonder why.

He's been doing this since TLOP. Every time he puts something you get people who know he's going to update it and they still whine about it being unfinished.

From what I'm hearing fantano didn't even bother listening to the album before shitting this video out. That's one of my biggest problems with this guy is that he has such a blatant bias based on what he thinks about the artist as a person. If someone doesn't want to listen to an artists music because they did/said something they don't like, then that's one thing, but when you are a music critic and you can't separate that from the actual product, then you shouldn't be reviewing music because it's clearly bad faith. If he actually thought these albums were "unreviewable" then he would just say he doesn't want to review it and move on. These videos are just an excuse to bitch and complain about Kanye himself instead.
He's such a faggot

Fantano may not have listened to Vultures 2 before deciding it sucked, but in fairness to him I didn't bother to watch his review before deciding it sucked. I dislike this loser too much to even alog him properly.

I don't care if this is considered political sperging I fucking hate how much of leftist internet posting is gay performative shit like this. "SEE I'M A GOOD PERSON I REFUSED TO LISTEN TO THE NAZI BAD MAN'S ALBUM SEE I WORE THE RED FLANNEL I DO NOT LIKE RACIST MAN" it's so utterly predictable and we all know why he's doing it. Imagine being a human worm desperately seeking approval from people who will gleefully turn on you in a second like this. Sickneing.

Needledick is genuinely one of the stupidest, most repulsive, slimy diaper-faggots in all of media.

What's crazy is the fact he still reviewed Drake's music after the pedo allegations with him and Millie Bobby Brown. I do wonder if, should he release anything else, another Drake record, or will he be performative about his morality.

Let's be fair with Melon here. Lefties tend to believe gamer words are worse than child grooming.

Fantano should be a huge reason why you should stay off Twitter and or not discuss politics on it. (If he used it just to discuss the album or single and is listening to it too, it would be ok) The irony is people call him a critic but Fantano appealing to a certain demographic tosses out the objectivity of his reviews.
:optimistic: I have a feeling if he did not engage with the political brainrot of Twitter he would have a thread on the music board talking about if his review was good or not. There was passion there and with thatistheplan he could integrate memes into stuff without it being forced. Rather than the music nerd that virtuals signal for a demographic that would turn on him. :optimistic:

The ironic part is that during one of his recent “LET’S ARGUE” videos, he literally tried to suggest, though sheepishly, shoot down the idea that Ye was not a good person during the time VULTURES 1 was released. Keep in mind, this was before people were questioning if the second part of VULTURES would be released last week. But then, he admitted the only reason that was the case was because of reading and listening to opinions on social media through the likes of X/Twitter and Instagram.

To put it short, he doesn’t even value the real fans of Ye or the ones that don’t live terminally online like him. He exclusively gets all of his preconceived notions of what Ye does through social media, and falls back behind the excuse of being a content creator on YouTube by saying he is a ”music reviewer”.

Anthony Fantanao is getting sued by other massive faggot, Ronnie Radke, the lead singer of edgy emo band Falling in Reverse

If anyone could archive the video that would be quite nice.
