I remember this clip from the mid 2000s and never really noticing how blatantly Opie puts an end to the fun. Maybe he actually needed to go to break and it was unfortunately timed, but after more familiarity it sounds more like another one of the weird passive aggressive slights he would pull when he was feeling insecure that other people were being funny. This may seem like a weird conclusion to jump to, but when you hear stories about how he would make comedians wait outside unnecessarily as a power move it makes more sense. Avid listeners of a show start to pick up on this sort of shit.

The Opie hate really took off after Ant was fired. Emotions were already high that a funny show ended and Opie and Jim was clearly not pulling the same weight. Unfortunately, Opie started attempting atrocious solo comedy online like "Loves the Internet Guy" and "Harry Hater" that was so bad it wasn't just unfunny, but showed he seemed to have some sort of neurological failure to understand comedy. It only got worse when he showed how thin skinned he was to trolling and criticism when people would trash him for it. After the O&A show developed a fanbase dedicated to viciously mean humor, trolling, and trashing unfunny comedy, it was only natural that the fanbase would become completely dedicated to trashing Opie. All the stupid shit he said in the past was dredged up and it became open season to point out just how awful he had always been.

In the oldest O&A communities still around, at this point Opie hate is so passe and Anthony has become such a faggot that the sentiment has flipped and the bit is now ironically praising Opie. "Wigger Rich" for example first came out writing diss tracks on Opie and eventually turned around to Anthony and Jim. And anyway Opie has been trolled so badly that he's a legitimately broken husk of a human being and only the latest adopters (ie faggots on YouTube and desperate fans still following Anthony) are coming to kick the corpse.

One of the things to point out also was that Opie was frequently regarded as the "fun gatekeeper".

When the show was hitting on all cylinders (Opie, Ant, Jim) people would clamor for a show that was just Anthony and Jim and occasionally it would happen if Opie was sick or something and usually it would be directionless chaos, which is really fun in moderation. People really hated Opie back in the day because they felt like he was standing in the way of the best show ever - the "Anthony and Jim show". Now in 2021, after the breakup, people can watch a show where Anthony is in charge (TACS) and a show where Jim is in charge (Jim and Sam) and they're both, frankly, fucking horrible.

People now soften on Opie because they realize without Opie, the show would just be Anthony and/or Jim using the show for their own ends. Jimmy would just book guests based on who he wanted to take a picture with that day and Anthony would just have the show be "Race Relations, direct from Stormfront.com" all day, every day. Opie shutting down a bunch of that shit was essential for the show working the way that it did.

But this is the thing that has me really confused cause the shows without Opie are generally worse then the regular O&A. In one of them Patrice and Norton go on about where to watch internet porn for an hour. Then Patrice starts an hour long fight with one of the interns over him not being allowed to show sketchy streaming sites on their pcs and turns it to a race issue. Like you dumb nibba ofcourse you don't want to click sketchy ass links on your work computer and potentially infect your companies network.

On the topic of Patrice the dude is funny but holy shit hes a blithering idiot about any other topic then women and race issues. "Oh i can't eat meat cause of how much suffering it causes the animals" Then he goes on to say how much he hates emotional men who aren't driven by logic. Fucking lmao.

Dude that was hilarious! Listen to patrice go off on Danny was one of the highlights from his apperances. There was some behind the scene shit going on already with them two because Danny was the Production guy when patrice was doing his BlackPhillip show. I love the wig hair comment patrice says in the BESTof Commentary.

Sry this doesn't offend me or make me think less of ant. Just proof siriusxm is a suicidal corporation. The pedophile stuff is way more abhorrent than the the racist shit he spouted on a daily basis for years on the airwaves. He eventually probably would have been fired for something pedo related and I would have agreed with Sirius at that point. The shit on the radio always come off OK because it was in the context of humor and doing the show, when the tweets happened and the racism was from a place of anger it just showed ant really was a genuine racist. Which didn't bother most fans, even minority ones because we assumed all along ant was racist.

You're right, Ant was always a out-and-proud racist. But what got me about his recent tweet was his cowardly attempt to rewrite history. He sold his McMansion for a loss recently and I'm guessing that he's desperate enough to try and reinvent himself as 'not-a-racist' once he's moved south so he can actually try and start earning money again.

Ant was tweeting some pretty racist stuff, so I imagine that is the reason why he was banned. He was just boasting about hitting 30000 followers too. This was a ban evasion account, so I can see Ant making another one at some point. He just cant quit.
