one of the things i always do when i'm feeling down iabout my job is look up job listings, if Opie did that a decade ago he'd probably still be working at Sirius. he had one of the top salaries in radio, he was better off retiring than going back to radio.
As cringe-worthy as Gregg is most of the time i actually respect that he realises that he pretty much couldn't go back to just being a regular jock in some small/medium market on terrestrial.
He'd last maybe a week or two before he got bored of doing hacky bits and he'd do or say something that would get him fired and possibly sued for breach of contract by whoever he signed with. Shock-jock radio is long dead but he wouldn't be able to stop himself.
He did the hack shit at the very beginning of his career and i don't think he'd be capable of going back to it.

Bagtalk and instant pestering were 2 of the worst additions to the show. Wonder if donkey sausage killed herself yet.
This new iteration is beyond cringe.
Nah, the shit he pulled woke up the money. Even Cumia has talked about phone numbers showing up on your caller ID that mean your mainstream career has ended.

even jim florentine has stated that people give opie a lot of shit. unnecessary shit too. everything we know about the opester is just second hand knowledge and what went over the airwaves. theres always two sides and a truth somewhere in the middle

I agree. Opie is a has been and for as much as he talked shit about Sam coasting off the O&A fanbase on the video posted recently he did the exact same shit after Anthony got fired. On one hand, he’s doing better in life than Anthony right now but on the other hand, he’s still the resentful douchebag he’s best known for.

To be fair to the Opester, he got fired in a far scummier way than Ant. Anthony was his own worst enemy and did not have to go on a long, racist tirade on Twitter after getting beat up in the Meatpacking District. Opie got fired because Roland decided to make a big deal out of Opie filming him taking a shit. Filming a dude taking a shit is probably the tamest thing that anyone from the O&Averse ever did, but Roland tittered up to HR and got it done. No one stood up for Opie, even though everyone on his show had a job because of him. In contrast, Opie did tell the suits not to fire Anthony and that the whole thing would blow over if they left it alone (what little good it did).
Not saying Opie doesn't have his problems, but I'd be fucking pissed if I was in his shoes.

I totally agree, and Opie was right about it being a distraction. It turned into Ant's Candy Crush and he would ignore shit that was happening on the show to flirt with female fans. As implemented on O&A, it sucked, but it inspired a much more functional and entertaining iteration in the Joe Rogan Experience.
Edit- @Hey Johnny Bravo it was comparable. When Ant got fired, he was well liked by mostly everyone except Opie. Opie and Jim didn't have the balls to stand up for him, so he felt betrayed. When Opie got fired, everyone hated his guts and wanted him gone. I'm sure nobody threw him a party or gave him a plaque that said thanks for the 20+ years. Talent fucking talent vs. staff fucking talent.

Like Anthony, he got axed for something outside the Sirius property because when they were at work they could have simply claimed it was for the show. A lot of staff (except Danny) got away with stuff because it was understood it was an edgy offensive environment. That's how Master Po and Troyquan (or Travis i cant remember) got away with sexual harassment which would've otherwise been an instant firing, it was within the protection of the show
There was another part that was discussed way after t he fact, apparently Roland was bothered by it at first but brushed it off, but then word got around that Opie, for some reason, was going around showing everyone at the Comedy Cellar the video which then got Roland to go to HR. Roland's problem was that since he was the guy booking guests for the show, he got paranoid that every comedian he was booking had probably seen the video

This is what bugs me. Roland saw (and did) worse shit to other people while working at Opie & Anthony. The abuse he leveled at E-Rock alone is, in my opinion, comparable to people seeing him take a shit. I also think going to HR is a bitch move in general considering the work environment. In a regular corporate office? Filming someone taking a shit is a major issue. For Opie & Anthony (or, at that point, Opie & Jim)? That would be one day's worth of content, maybe.

I thought Troy got kicked off the air for a rant where he threatened to kill Fez, or something like that. It seemed to happen in the earlier satellite days and not a lot of the youtube archives directly address it. Similar to "the incident," the company probably discouraged them from detailing it regularly. All I recall is the talent sarcastically asking for Troy's opinion on every other issue and Sam dramatically putting his foot down in the name of the company. Peak hole behavior. At least E-Rock would spill the beans if you prodded him enough.

Troy was almost fired, but O&A went to bat for him. It was due to an on-air fight between him and Zito.

Yeah, towards the end of his time at Sirius Fez was one of those dangerous idiots who would try to get you in trouble if you looked at him funny.
Honestly, i know Ron was trying to help him keep his job and have a normal life but he really shouldn't have been on air for the last couple of years he was in radio. It was clearly very stressful for him.

By all accounts I've heard, Fez was happy after retiring from radio and moving back to Florida. I'm happy he got to spend his last years that way.
At the end of the Bennington show after Fez died, Ron expressed regret about the decisions he made, but you can tell that he and Gail loved Fezzy. The only humanity I have ever seen from anyone associated with O&A was E-Rock uploading all of the production pieces that Steve C made as a sort of memorial for him.

It seemed like the company bent over backwards to accommodate Fez, but that was probably because they didn't want to lose Ron. That, or it was just a ruse to feed him a spicy steak.

Roland was almost never picked on for whatever reason during O&A, or at least on the same level as the other staff. The furthest they went was trying to get him to do the physical fitness challenge. I don't know if there's an actual reason (like Danny's supposed "no making fun of me" clause on his contract) or coincidence. Him not being accustomed to suddenly being a target might have had something to do with him running to HR
I think it was what I mentioned earlier, Troy was not only harassing female O&A interns but allegedly Ron & Fez female interns too which caused a huge issue behind the scenes. However I don't remember if that led to him being banned from interacting with interns, because Travis may have also been banned from interacting with interns after ("accidentally") kicking an intern in the nuts during a skit. I just know one of the two was prohibited from being with interns, and that Troy may have been borderline sexually harassing interns of both shows

They were the only radio duo worth anything not only in Sirius but radio in general. Scott & Todd, Opie & Anthony, John & Jeff ended as two people who hated each other and weren't talented enough to hold up by themselves
