Fun fact: typing in "eatabullet.com" into the address bar still redirects to Jim Norton's website, which I'm certain he pays for.
I think that was originally his main site and not a redirect. When he plugged his dates in the early 2000s, he would tell people to check out eat a bullet.

He has to be self aware enough to know how pathetic he has become and there's a very good chance he thinks about putting a gun in his mouth every day.
There’s a theory some have that this is Jimmy playing out a humiliation fetish and when “Nikki” spends all his money and divorces him, he will eat a bullet.

I believe that Jimmy knows there’s enough shit to cancel him several times over and his marriage to a man is a shield. Nikki spends a lot of his money but Jimmy spends a lot of money on prostitutes. He likely sees it as a distinction without a difference.
How anyone sees Opie spinning around in the street, begging Joe Rogan for a phone call, then saying that he could compete with Joe Rogan's success "IF HE WANTED TO"

And concludes that Opie is anything but an insane wreck, just like the other two, it's just beyond me.

As far as their history on and off the show, I'm concerned with who entertained me and it was never Opie
Yeah I think people confuse Jim and Ant being bigger lolcows with Opie being normal. Opie got canned in 2018 for doing stupid shit, so much for being some master of radio. Opie’s whole dream was to take down Howard Stern and he failed miserably at that. Jimmy is the only one with a career and in order to have that, he has to impale himself on Ragnar’s giant cock.

it's 100% a humiliation fetish dude. Nikki has let it slip that she 'doesn't like anal' on the Kerryn Feehan podcast. That only leaves one other option.
The entire experience with Nikki is one giant fetish for Norton. It's all about the shame kink, he loves it. It's the same reason he had his ex girlfriend on the podcast, so she could talk shit with Nikki about him as he sat there like the amorphous, shame-ridden blob that he is.

For Nikki, it's transactional. I mean they met on a camwhoring site for fuck's sake.

This may also be true. My recollection is that a fan bought the site, redirected it to Norton's site, and told them about it on the radio, which created the bit - I thought I had audio of that, but I can't find it at the moment. Either way, it's a great bit.

Jimmy marrying a tranny is extremely on-brand for him. He can't really be cancelled because he's been a gross creep his entire life and everyone knows it. It's akin to hiring Andy Dick and being shocked when he's a crippling alcoholic sex pest: he has had this reputation publicly since the 90's.

The only thing Jimmy and pretty much the entire O&A staff (plus Ralphie May) could be completely cancelled for is The Show We Can't Talk About. In 2004, the band Wolfpac brought in underage girls who sucked on the in-studio Jaeger machine like dehydrated mules while playing the Wiffle Ball Bat challenge. It culminated in Jimmy and Ant raping an underage girl, dumping her on the streets of NYC, and police showing up only for Ralphie May to de-escalate the situation.

In classic Ant fashion, he later burned his bridge with Ralphie. On one of his Live From The Compound shows years later, Ralphie brought up that him talking the cops down stopped everyone from getting arrested, fired, and sent to the pokey. Anthony didn't like Ralphie bringing up something that could ruin his life, so he responded in the only way he knew: histrionics.

Opie filming Roland Campos taking a shit was old school O&A antics. The difference is that Roland went to HR like the little tee-hee'ing snitch that he is (I editorialized here a bit). Opie wasn't really cancelled so much as straight up fired.

You are correct that Jim is the only one with any real career left of the trio. You are also correct that Opie's dream of taking down Howard Stern failed. Turns out all Opie had to do was ask himself: "do I need to fix this problem, or will the universe fix it for me?"

I do want to note, at the end of this ridiculous essay that probably none of you will read, that I do understand why people hate Opie. I just think he's the least hateable because he never threw anyone under the bus like the rest of the O&A crew.

He has to be self aware enough to know how pathetic he has become and there's a very good chance he thinks about putting a gun in his mouth every day. He might if he wasn't so scared of guns. It's hard to argue to Jimmy doesn't get off on hating himself. That, or he finally gave up on being honest with himself and is pozzed to a degree that would make Robert Reed blush, then pass out from the blood loss.
I don't know if Jim necessarily gets off on hating himself. I often got the impression from stories on the radio that he often didn't like leading the life that he leads but he often found it easier than actually putting work in to fix his life. That and he was a little bit of a coward who doesn't want to confront certain things. I said awhile ago how a lot of his joking about being molested is more of a coping mechanism for him to avoid confronting the fact that he was the victim of sexual abuse and how it likely shaped a lot of his behavior as an adult.

At this point there is no going back for him. He has chosen to go too far down the path he is on and there no way off of it.

I would say that Opie's biggest cow quality is that he has a little bit of emotional instability as well as bitterness. While he is not as pathologically vindictive as Anthony is, Opie himself does have some anger for how his career ended up playing out. That and for his upbringing. Looking back, he really enjoyed radio and probably thought ONA taking off would be where he would finally find the happiness he was looking for after his unstable childhood. Instead it became an even bigger nightmare for him on multiple fronts. Now that he has started doing a lot of these poorly put together streams it has really gotten him into the first steps of being a cow.

I feel that the difference I see with Opie compared to Jim and Anthony is that because he isn't that terrible of a person like they are and because he hasn't gone so far down the rabbit hole like they did, there still is an opportunity to fix this one issue he has. I feel receiving some mildly therapy would fix a lot for him. His life isn't as bad and as abnormal as Jim and Anthony's are. He has a wife and kids, he saved all his money, the fans have not only turned on Anthony and Jim but are also willing to give Opie some credit after years of mocking him.

Opie at this point has to learn to let what happened go.

Opie's biggest cow quality is that he is very easily bothered by other people on the show being more successful than he was. He has a massive inferiority complex knowing that he rarely contributed actual Comedy to the Comedy Talk Show. He excelled in literally every other area but people don't often talk about how bits get into the show - they just talk about the bits/jokes/etc as they appear on the show.

It's the nature of radio shows - people know the on-air talent, but never care about the back end. Opie was a talented producer and an average/medicore personality and some people can't separate one from the other.

It's why he often gets maligned as cruel - he just literally doesn't know how to bust balls (and doubly doesn't know how to get his balls busted) without putting his real emotions into it. He didn't understand how things "caught on" or "went viral" and was genuinely very mad when Anthony did those things effortlessly. He is someone who doesn't like being in the crossfire who confusingly made his job hanging out with some of the meanest and hardest hitting comics of the day.

Opie is the most normal lolcow I've ever seen

Obscenely unfunny, insecure, jealous, selfish, but otherwise very normal outside the internet, affluent, and with a loving family. He was also very skilled at most aspects of radio except for hosting. More importantly, little to no dirt against him (even though he's been doing it since he was 18.)

While getting fired for showing off photos of his "talent" booker taking a shit is douchey, his show was already dying so I count that as a mercy kill more than a lolcow moment

I find it interesting how Jim and Anthony had similar mindsets: It's a job, ride it until you die, but Jimmy was the one who managed to hold on to it.

As to the loyalty thing, I'm honestly surprised Jimmy survived working with Hughes. Hughes never missed an opportunity to try and ratfuck him, but for whatever the reason never had the balls to fire him.

I never wanted the reunion the revolving door of guests want, but I would love if all of them got stuck in a room and weren't allowed to lie. "Leave it alone" still rustles my jimmies.

Anthony left that mindset a long time ago.

At some point he decided he had enough money that O&A wasn't "ride or die" - that he wanted to be someone important. He wanted to be more than Anthony Cumia, guy who quotes lines from 80s mob movies on the radio. He wanted to be Anthony Cumia, respected political person - and so he brought more and more politics onto the show. He started up his own studio - he started doing bookings on Fox News and such all in an effort to be a smart person with a smart opinion.

Surprisingly he wasn't that smart though and all he really seemed to have was "Black People Bad" and those appearances dried up and he couldn't run a small media company apparently to save his life.

BLACK PEOPLE ARE LOUD AND THEY TAKE THINGS.

I honestly don't disagree with that point.

I think it was Patrice that said it.
I am deeply, deeply disturbed that I get this reference. It's to that shitty Schwarzenegger movie "the seventh day"
Actually, Ahnold might have been trying to repent for something around then, he did seventh day and end of days around a similar time period.

Seventh day as a movie bothered me more than most sci-fi. I don't like thinking about shit like that. It did put me off ever cloning an animal. I understand Streisand has done in multiple times and is unhappy that reincarnation doesn't fucking exist and the animals have different personalities. The question of a soul... yeah fuck that movie. It doesn't earn that level of horror.

But yeah, the failed CEO clone with the stubby hair was definitely what Patrice was thinking of in regards to Norton. fucking fluidic bulbous monster head.

Opie’s meanness contributed a lot to the show. In retrospect, that was probably his best quality. He was a psycho, like when he went after Stern’s daughter Emily topless in that shitty play. Howard had no way to fight back besides a gag order and trying to ignore it. The difference was Howie pretended to be edgy, whereas Opie wasn’t joking.

This is not entirely true. Norton was hired as third mic specifically because Opie and Ant started to fucking hate each other, and they needed someone else in the room. Opie also kept Norton around for years and went to bat for him (and Ant) when it came to raises and contract negotiations. The big difference is that Opie always wanted a short contract with SiriusXM because, being an industry guy, he understood that frequent contract negotiations could be used as leverage. Meanwhile, Ant and Jim wanted a safe gig.

Opie started to dislike Norton as the years went on. That is very true and it's why the Opie & Jim show failed. However, Opie and Jim had a far better relationship than Opie and Anthony did, and he had no reason to fire the guy. Jim brought content to the show, was funny, did his job, and didn't go on hours-long race rants.

Oh my God, I am going to post this video because it's still fucking hilarious. O&A had a goddamn field day and it was well-deserved.

People tend to forget that Jimmy shredded Islam every chance he got after 9/11. That was also during the Bush Jr. era when "terrorist hunting permit" bumper stickers were popular. The only risks he takes are STD related.

The Opester was like that college friend everyone had but nobody really liked. The only difference is his flaws were public and ripped to shreds by thousands of people. But as far as the least degenerate of the trio? No question. He's a lame douche, but so are millions of other people on the planet. His biggest flaw was being terminally unfunny after cultivating an audience whose first instinct upon seeing an inauthentic persona was to attack it.
