I didn't know that lore that really further sours Patrice for me; it's pretty shocking the stuff they got away with.
Patrice also had some weird hanger-ons around, much like Anthony. Dante Nero is probably the one who's most prolific. He was on with Patrice on his mediocre dating advice show on Opie and Anthony's channel for a while. Patrice squandered that opportunity too. Another one of Patrice's faults was that he was a loudmouth who thought he knows more than he actually does. Every time he talked about health or technology made it obvious how poorly informed Patrice really is. He even tried to cure his diabetes with veganism instead of listening to doctors who told him to exercise, eat fewer calories, and limit high carb foods. And after Patrice died he left little to nothing to people he loved. Bill Burr had to put together a Patrice O'Neal Benefit to raise some money for Patrice's elderly mother.

The only thing Jimmy and pretty much the entire O&A staff (plus Ralphie May) could be completely cancelled for is The Show We Can't Talk About. In 2004, the band Wolfpac brought in underage girls who sucked on the in-studio Jaeger machine like dehydrated mules while playing the Wiffle Ball Bat challenge. It culminated in Jimmy and Ant raping an underage girl, dumping her on the streets of NYC, and police showing up only for Ralphie May to de-escalate the situation.
Another fun fact is that Troy Quan used to be a memeber of that band, and then got hired years later to work for the Opie & Anthony show.

I find it interesting how Jim and Anthony had similar mindsets: It's a job, ride it until you die, but Jimmy was the one who managed to hold on to it.
Especially if you consider that one of the hosts was fired for filming someone on the toilet, another for a fallout after an altercation with a prostitute, and neither one of the two was Jim Norton.

Patrice didn't really squander that opportunity - XM did. During the time it was semi-openly discussed that Opie wanted to expand XM202 to be a full station instead of the Opie and Anthony channel and he tried to make that happen.

What ended up coming out is that XM didn't want to invest in the channel to a capacity where they could really fill it up. In the case of most of the comics on the O&A show - XM wasn't going to pay them more than the clubs were going to, which was their normal real job that they plugged constantly on the "main" show. It sounded like the lore was that Patrice was willing to meet XM half way but XM didn't even want to go that far.

Part of comedy is traveling but doing an XM show (at the time) meant you had to be in NYC for Friday or Saturday night - meaning you couldn't be in a comedy club earning money. It wasn't just Patrice (he was just the most vocal) but that's likely the reason that Bill Burr, Jim Brurer, Louis CK, etc never joined XM 202 for very long.

It's wild to think about XM being able to sign Patrice in his prime for not that much money and declining in a world where Joe Rogan is getting like $83 Million a year from Spotify. If XM were willing to invest in XM202 it probably would have been a real juggernaut at some point.

Everything about this is true, except for Patrice's rape charge. The judge literally sent Patrice to jail because the judge was getting publicly criticized for being too lenient, so he gave Patrice and his co-defendant a summer in jail to scare them straight. Even the other inmates were surprised he got jail time.

Patrice's mom hid him because Boston Police are notoriously unkind to anyone darker than a brown paper bag.

Patrice didn't want to debase himself or owe anyone like Kevin Hart or Tracy Morgan did - they had to literally wear a dress and kiss the ring, which Patrice openly refused to do.

If XM listened to Opie about XM202 and signed Joe Rogan, the Internet would be slightly different. Imagine all that money going to XM instead of YouTube?

every now and then i encounter a comment on an old O&A video that references a post on the old O&A reddit from someone confirmed to be an intern who claimed he caught Danny and Anthony "being romantic" on the way out of the office. that segment where Danny and some intern competed in Guitar Hero is making me think the reddit post might be true to some degree

he doesnt treat Danny like someone whose being blackmailed

Name me one intern or employee there that wasn't a fag in some way.
You don't think Pat Fawkin' Duffy was a Radio Legend?! He argued with construction workers and allowed a diabetic to puke on him!

Is it known what happened between Ant and Danny to make them enenies?

It isn't overtly known - but Danny had a lot of feuds with basically every O&A staffer. He got away with a lot of it for a very long time by being Ant's friend but Opie (bless his heart) would go out of his way to punk him constantly. Danny was also never promoted to Producer for O&A as far as I can recall. They had him working the limited run stuff (Technophile, Black Philip, one-off shows) but he didn't have much to show from the O&A team (as opposed to Erock, Sam, Nathaniel, etc) over the years.

Danny started fucking around with the wrong people (SXM management) and was promptly fired. He brought some weird hooker to some business/company event and some very high level executive called Anthony into his office and just told him "Danny Ross is gone, there is nothing you can do to save him. Get out" and it seemed to instantly sour from there. Danny also seemingly couldn't get a radio gig after that. He got a "Lead Screenshot Capturer" job at Rockstar for three years courtesy of Lazlo.

He's probably a cunt that most people are happy to no longer have to deal with.

I'd wager this is in the works for a few years
I mean didn’t Ant literally say “yeah I think I’m gonna move to South (North?) Carolina here in a few years” when he was on Rogan? Wasn’t that a couple years ago already?

Whatever happened to homeless Charlie? Is he even still alive? He was more interesting and entertaining than crackhead Bob from the Howard Stern show. I think crackhead Bob is the most boring of the Wack Pack.

The move was just one part of this. (His house took forever to complete; everyone knew he was moving for years.) But coward bitch Anthony led them to believe he’d be keeping the studio running to record other shows — zero indication he planned to shut down all those shows and/or the studio. I doubt the employees would have been signing leases in NY and having babies if they’d had any indication from their boss that they’d soon be out of jobs.

Again, Cumia is a fucking pussy and his retarded beard LARPs as a good Catholic girl while living in sin with a degenerate pedophile. It’s impossible to hate those two enough.

I just meant as part of corporate culture.

A merger, acquisition, layoff, move, whatever for a company takes a long time to legally process. There's a lot of documentation and legal/financial discovery that has to take place before it happens - even for small companies like Compound Media. There are a lot of hiccups that have to be addressed and details that have to be lined up and ironed out - and it all takes time.

A nice clean acquisition can take ~6 months and Compound Media was probably not squeaky clean. I'd guesstimate 18 months but possibly longer depending on who Anthony has for the important parts of this process.

The most important thing during a sale (if you're an executive about to fuck your employees over) is to give 0 indication it's going to happen until it's too late. Ideally you want to be long gone sitting on several million dollars and make the new company's HR team deal with the fallout if possible. So Anthony did the correct thing from a business perspective for once in his life.

The Jew was pretty invertedly funny, so was the black girl they had
Intern David was genuinely funny, but his experience in the show ruined his interest in radio (as did most intern's experience on O&A). Whenever people encountered David post-internship, he would allegedly turn around and sprint away. Last I knew, he was working at the Holocaust Museum in NYC. His weird rapper character was really, really funny at the time.

Francine was the black girl and even Opie remembers her fondly. She was very funny and handled the atmosphere well, but didn't really do anything in radio after O&A.

You don't think Pat Fawkin' Duffy was a Radio Legend?! He argued with construction workers and allowed a diabetic to puke on him!
Pat was a soldier. RIP.

Intern David was genuinely funny
To this day, one of the mere two occasions in my life when I laughed so hard I genuinely thought I was going to die, was during the infamous Ron Bennington show where they repeatedly sent Intern David to interrupt Ron live on air.

Family members were honestly rushing in to my room to see if I was having a medical episode of some kind.
