This time in Northern Miami. Some kid with tism wanders away from his group home and his wrangler goes to get him. The kid is holding a toy truck that someone saw and thought was a weapon. Cops come and make the them get on the ground.

Guy gets on his back, hands up and just after the video cuts out gets shot in the leg. He'll live but the PD does not need something like this after the past few weeks. At this point we should just have a mega thread on black people getting shot by police and police getting killed by blacks.

As someone said earlier, it appears that the cop had no idea how to deal with autistic people and thought he was a "threat" to himself and others.

It's just a shitty situation all around. And I probably expect the cop to get fired over it. Definitely looks like an unjustified shooting. But at least he's not dead.

That trigger-happy cop should have the book thrown at him. Do these idiots have any tactical training or situational awareness?

Also, they are focusing on the caretaker, but did the patient get shot? It sounded like he was ignoring orders and even sounded a little belligerent, which is why the caretaker was fretting so much.

Even if the autistic darkie was spasming out, why did they shoot the therapy guy? He was not the one chimping, there is no reason for the cops to do that unless the idiot has this aim and was aiming for the spaz. Which is another problem alltogether.

At least it was not fatal.

Or it could be the black guy tried to get up after the cops told him to stay down

Or poor trigger discipline

I really think cops need more training to deal with mentally ill people. Especially autistic kids.

Chicago is really bad at this too. Sad all around.

Yeah, this seems like it was probably unjustified. If the therapist was White he would probably have still been shot and it wouldn't have even been news, though.

CNN is reporting the police are now saying the shooting was "accidental". As in they shot the wrong guy.

"The movement of the white individual made it look like he was going to discharge a fire arm into Mr. Kinsey and the officer discharged trying to strike and stop the white man and unfortunately, he missed the white male and shot Mr. Kinsey by accident."

Video before the shooting has also emerged from the lawyer of the victim. He has claimed no video of the shooting has yet reached his office.

Why are they handcuffing a man they accidentally shot?

Realtalk? Police handcuff basically everyone at a scene like this in order to prevent people from hurting each other while emotions are running high. For instance it's standard procedure for them to handcufff the hostages as well as the hostage takers after SWAT busts in on a hostage situation.

Stop asking perfectly reasonable questions! Do you want Steve Loomis to call you anti-cop because you have concerns? Jump to conclusions like the rest of America fam

Yeah I can understand the reason, but in this situation protocol almost looks like an absurdity. Again I don't have training, but I feel like a man with a gunshot wound may be willing to comply with police. Going to keep watching for updates.
