Don’t forget Astroboy. Not sure how many feel for that CGI movie though.
Oh fuck that reminds me, New line cinema holds the rights for a live action astro boy
I suppose its better then the Universal and Illumination live action/cg hybrid they wanted to do for Pluto or if Netflix or Disney had there hand on it, but still

Speaking of Dr. Slump, Tubi has the 90s version of the anime available. Hope they end up getting the 80s version and the movies as well. Arale is a hoot.
@Steamboat_Bill says the '90s version sucks, but the '80s version still isn't widely available (only like 100 episodes have been subbed thus far apparently). The '90s version is apparently a reboot or something, is it? What makes it bad compared to the original adaptation, asking as someone who hasn't gotten into Dr. Slump yet?

Holy shit the Shaman King reboot actually kept the vivisection. Sure, they toned it down quite a bit, but it's there.

The 80s version is a direct adaptation of the manga. The 90s version reimagines a lot of it, and not for the better. It's not a coincidence that nobody was subbing it before Tubi got ahold of it.

I grew up watching the 80s version. The 90s version has an art style that isn't as cartoonish, it reminds me of Dragonball GT. Arale looks different and the theme song is annoying.

Naoko Yamada has left Kyoto Animation.

TL;DR The attack on the KyoAni studio has left her scarred and made her leave alongside other talented colleagues of the studio as well as her connections with Science Saru.

In other words, a big fat fall and L to the future of the studio. Prepare the KyoAni griefing thread.

sad for her, but at the same time KyoAnus hasn't made a single decent show since Amagi Brilliant Park. At least this way the studio will get to go out with a bang instead of a whimper, hopefully all of the people that actually have talent that gets squandered by the studio will get to work on some genuinely interesting projects now.

man, violet evergarden genuinely is irredeemably shit, I cannot understand why people still want to throw money at this studio when it lost all of it's spark years ago.

Most of the big studios are irredeemably shit nowadays, not just KyoAni. It is just like the videogame space. Most of the big names have popular products and that the only reason why they are alive is because of the consoomer viewer. The real art are seen from smaller studios with reputable and transparent development cycles.

VEG was a godsend in the godforsaken year that was 2018 and I stand with that statement.

Hey, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid has been great!

I remember trying Violet Evergarden and it just felt boring and trying too hard to get an emotional reaction from the audience.

I'm gonna blame Toei on this, cause just like the Cowboy Bebop one, it's possible that Oda actually doesn't have a hand in it.
I legit think control freaks Toei/Shonen Jump's still going to be involved in some way or another after the debacle that was 4KIDS' dub. Oda may also still have the final say for all we know.

Cowboy Bebop only came out like shit because Sunrise didn't get involved like they should've.

Yeah, after 4kids & DB Evolution, I'd be surprised if Toei didn't get their shit together for this.

It's not just Sunrise either, no one, & I mean NOBODY talked to Watanabe (John Cho admitted this), let alone have creative inclusion of his. In fact, Watanabe just straight-up said that "let's just hope & pray people would like this show" this is literally what he said.

If the creator of your show just indirectly, yet outright admit that "Don't blame me, I have nothing to do with this shit", then that alone explaines the quality of this show.
Anything works for men with enough culture.

Grimms season 2 is the best. Fun fact the entire series was in fact dubbed but of course they chose to cut certain episodes for broadcast. I assumed they went undubbed. The first episode on the bluray is The Crystal Ball and its....pretty much an indicator of what nightmare fuel awaits. Its pretty gruesome for a children's show. But the villain is very beautiful....at times.

Her hair is this odd peach pink color. Anyway there's also a featurette explaining how they restored and reworked episodes and the censorship.
