Quick question for the learned anime fans in the thread : What is the name of that one show that generally gets recommended that's set in the space/future which has a fair amount of politics in it and was made somewhere around the 80s or early 90s based off the animation style. Note, that I know it isn't any iteration of Gundam or Macross. And I'm pretty sure it isn't Space Battleship Yamato.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes?

I wonder (assuming that they haven't already revealed this) who will be the photobomber in LL Superstar!, since photobombing is a long-standing tradition in the LL franchise.
I think it'll be the Chinese girl.

LL Superstar is also going out of its way to be different than the other groups with only 5 girls who are all first years, so I wouldn't say it's being milked to death yet.

Last night I watched Megazone 23 and for something that was made in 1985, it really hurts how we’ll never have something that’s made for the current day like this ever again.
If you liked Megazone you might want to check out Venus Wars.

I mean it falls into the whole thing of the hero riding a space bike around a futuristic city like Mospeada and Megazone

Need some suggestions. What's a good anime like Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, or Bleach? Mostly serious but strong comedy elements are fine.

I can't find many good ones. People usually suggest Naruto or One Piece but they suck, the character designs aren't cool at all. Couple examples of good ones I've come across are Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer.

Off the top of my head:
- Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
- Mob Psycho
- s-CRY-ed
- Gun x Sword
- Shield Hero
- Read or Die

Thanks for the suggestions. I watched FMA, but it doesn't feel much like the type I've got in mind. It was good but seemed a lot more focused on plot. I guess I'm looking for something dumb, focused heavily on combat, like tournaments or the cast trying to defeat a strong enemy (like how a bunch of characters fought Deep Sea King in One Punch, or Friends from DBZ).

I'll give those others a look anyway. I've been meaning to try Shield Hero for sure, guess I'll start there.

Oh, I see what you mean now. Yu Yu Hakusho is the only one of those types I've ever really enjoyed. If you were okay with the more comedic One Punch Man then Slayers might also fit.

Yeah, OPM was more comedic but most of the battles were still just serious enough for me. Thanks, Slayers it is then.

If you're looking for simple shonen series, I can't recommend Black Clover enough. A lot of people slept on it initially because it was coming out just a few months after Naruto ended and it got a lot of comparisons to the latter, but it quickly developed into one of my favorite series. It's unapologetically shonen to its core, embodying all the usual tropes but doing so in a way that remains entertaining throughout. Even tropes that normally annoy me like the 2kool4skool rival character are done in a way that I enjoy. Sounds like it'd be right up your alley.

I should mention that if you're gonna watch the anime, this one might be better to stick with the dub. The main character Asta's JP voice is...grating, to say the least. His dub voice is much better, and the dub is generally pretty decent overall.

I heard pretty much the same thing, that it's sort of generic but good. I came to the same conclusion after the few episodes I watched, but I liked it well enough.

And you're right about the voice thing, I actually stopped watching it due to the main character's sub voice lol. I don't think Crunchyroll has the dub but I'll have to double check.

It's like if Love Live kept doing spin-off anime of just the Muse girls. Niji was based on a game spin-off that had practically zero relationship with a new cast of characters and this new season is also keeping its distance from earlier groups.
might be because sunshine felt way too much like a rehash of the original (oh no school closes. another exotic band name in the style of muse, 9 members again because reasons etc). apparently it gets better later on, but first impressions are hard to redeem.
original was also pretty good (besides the absolutely retarded forced drama towards the end of S1) so hard to compete with too.

at least I gotta give them credit that muse had their big break with the anime, did a movie due to popularity, and then kept it with concerts etc instead of going on forever.

Hokuto No Ken The Musical is now OFFICIALLY a thing

Yes. That's the one.
there's also a new version (die neue these) that's criminally underwatched - or at least no one is talking about it.

good luck ever getting those hiroyuki sawano tracks out of your ear (and yes, that's those are the japanese versions).

Dorohedoro is a great one.

DNT cuts out a criminal amount of characterization and characters.

It was confirmed in the latest chapter. It's been a hell of a ride considering how slow this final arc has been up until Araki decided to finally end it and pull another Sleeping Slaves ending starring old woman Lucy in the 40's
Well that explains why the previous chapter felt like it was supposed to be a finale - because it was. That at least confirms that the flash forward had probably already been retconned a long time ago and we just never knew about it until now.

Honestly, this really rushed ending just highlights the horrendous pacing of this last arc even more. There’s no reason we needed like 4-5 chapters worth of rock insect fights - that page count REALLY should’ve been put toward fleshing out this final final encounter a bit more - or barring that, just cut entirely and ending Jojolion way earlier.
