Now that a year has passed and the first 50+ episode, despite the controversial beginnings, Yu-Gi-Oh Sevens is pretty solid. The characters are charming and funny, the duels get right to work with some comedy mixed in.
Even if it looks childish on the surface level, there is some interesting meta commentary. Even in a setting full of control, it isn't a story about destroying, its about building and respecting paths in life, Like how with the card game still has the new Master Rules, Rush Duels isn't taking anything away from the core game, but putting a different spin. It runs in parallel with the OCG.
There isn't any anime only stuff i.e Card Games on Motercycles (5Ds), Numbers only beating Numbers (Zexal), Action Duels (Arc-V) or Speed Duels with plot breaking abilities (VRAINS)
The new Rush Duel format is fun to follow. My favorite aspect so far is that there is there is no extra material like dice or coin flip. The card effects and costs are clear-cut that you have to pay a cost i.e milling a card from the deck.
Now the show is going is to a new crazier arc and I will keep track on the progress on how well it holds up.
Here's a bit a trivia/question: What is the similarity between Ohdou Yuga and Muto Yugi, so far they are the only "Boku" users in the last 25 years
Also, Sebastian, Nail's assistant...Is a Cha(i)r. Remove the "I" and you will get a seiyuu joke.
