The thing that always gets me is how much they misuse the defence of "Localization doesn't need to be 1:1!" due to it sometimes being the proper response to a dub change in limited cases. The only time I think it's a legitimate defence is when it's to do with a line that either won't translate well into English without a giant translation note or when it's a pop culture reference/joke/phrase/etc. that wouldn't make sense to viewers outside of Japan. In that case, I don't mind them replacing it with a similar English equivalent that conveys the same meaning.
In the case of Nagatoro's sus usage it would make sense to me if she was actually using that phrase or was using Japanese slang that has a similar meaning that might not make sense to English audiences. The Sk8 one doesn't fit into either category to me.
