I've been transformed into a random girl from an anime I don't even know.

That's life at Kiwi Farm.

Shirou is best boy. Shame on you.

If you want the whole thing, play the VN that adds the realta nua stuff. The porn is your choice(Nasu should've just had a then they had sex summary, the weird replacement scenes just don't fit). Just watch UFO if you want a condensed version of things, though their HF was shit(the route itself had a lot of problems but still).

Ignore FGO and anything not written by Nasu. It's basically just fanfiction and boy does it fucking feel like it. Melty Blood is fun to play though if animu fighters are your thing.
I mean didn't Nasu write several story arcs for FGO and planned the story for it? I mean FGO is not bad story wise but god there are some atrocious writers for it (mainly a certain writer known for repeating tropes and nipwank).

He did but a lot of it still feels like a painfully shallow fanfic. Solomon's whole deal and the demons as a whole is high tier Nasu shit bogged down by gacha combat waifus.
This. He's unironically husband material.
He cook, he clean, he work, he attack, but most importantly he got your back.

I remember some people years ago arguing the Deen adaptation was the best series to get someone into fate.
I'm pretty sure they where just trying to trick people to watch a bad show. But I'll kinda admit deen/stay night had a pretty good OST and OPs
It's an adaptation of the actual introductory bits of fate (plus some more bits that were awkwardly bolted on), so it's the only way short of playing the VN to actually learn the relevant info alongside the plot that's occurring onscreen instead of having to play catch-up. It's just... not a well made show, otherwise.

Same boat as you honestly, the order most fans go with is:

Fate/Zero
Fate/Unlimited Blade Works
The Heaven's Feel movies

That's the order I'm sticking with when I eventually watch it anyway, everything else is either a spin off or alternate timeline setting that's just a bonus if you like the mainline series.
I'm morally opposed to that order, not because Fate/Zero isn't the best one or doesn't work stand alone but because it spoils several parts of the Fate/Stay Night stories. Watch Unlimited, then watch Stay Night if it left you wanting to waifu Saber and not Rin, and then watch Zero if you still want to know more about Illya, Saber, Sakura, Gilgamesh and the antagonist.

I have no opinion on the Heavens Feels because I'm waiting for a hq sub and not a camrip

Oh, that reminds me: Speaking of Nasu who else is hyped we get blessed by another season of Thunderbolt Fantasy next week?

I was thinking about this earlier, and I feel like Samurai Flamenco is sort of the FLCL to Durara’s Evangelion, except for the part where they’re not directly related by studio.

(FLCL to Evangelion comparison is old hat, but just so we’re all on the same page) Both FLCL and Evangelion are explorations of being a teenager - dealing with puberty, sexual awareness, fear of changing but also wanting independence, and feeling like no one understands you - but Evangelion is primarily a very cynical, brutalist take that only really turns around at the very end... (except for the part where it’s possible everyone is dead). Whereas FLCL is overall optimistic and nostalgic, with an almost melancholy feel. Eva is commonly considered a deconstruction of mecha, whereas I’d argue FLCL is very much a deconstruction of ‘special teen’ harem anime.

Both also have very heavy use of symbolism (though a lot of Evangelion’s feels like complete wankery if you have a basic understanding of Christian beliefs), both of them blue the line between whether certain things actually happen or are in a character’s head, and therefore - both series may have unreliable narrators. (Let’s ignore FLCL 2 and Evangelion X.0 because I have no interest in FLCL 2 and Eva X goes out of it’s way to fuck with the audience.)

In a similar way, I‘d say that Durarara and Samurai Flamenco are both explorations of heroism and the power of belief in others. Durara is a mostly cynical (and sometimes quite brutal) take with a little bit of optimism. Flamenco is heavier than FLCL, but it still has an underlying optimism - mankind is basically good, even if people don’t always live up to their ideals. Flamenco is definitely a deconstruction of the Tokusetsu genre, but also a reconstruction of it. A lot of people also consider Durara a deconstruction, though I can never get them to agree on what genre it deconstructs.

Likewise, both use a lot of symbolism and metaphor to get things across, both definitely blur the line between whether things are reality or inside a character’s head, and both series have unreliable narrators.

Basically, what I’m saying is that Samurai Flamenco is an incredible series, and the fact that it’s somehow almost 1.5 points lower than Durara on Anime List kills me.

anyway, I’m curious on other people’s thoughts on this.

I was enjoying the show but didn't think it was anything too special before episode seven happened, and it was after that that I fell in love and strapped in for the ride. The fact people (anime fans especially) don't get what it was going for baffles me, which is why it's such an underappreciated show. Haven't seen Durarara, though, so I'll have to take your word for it.

I felt like I was having a seizure for a sec.

I really liked Samurai Flamenco though, it wasn't the greatest of shows, but it was a lot of fun. Does this count the season 2/ln of Durarara? I never finished either.
