They also skipped out on Elsa's final form chase sequence through the mansion on fire scene and instead had her die by a giant hippo for some ungodly reason.
Also the translator's fucked up Roswaal's promise with Subaru at the end.

I thought it was just a giant chunk of debris. I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped that for either of these reasons:
- They spent too much time on the Emilia subplot and had to rush
- They couldn't pull it off in animation
- Anime industry being what it is, they couldn't pull it together and with the pandemic fucking things further, it was impossible to do it.

I wish we could go behind the scenes on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those reasons. I haven't read the source material, but did the Emilia crap last as long as it did in the anime? Or was it shorter and less contrived?

It was somewhat shorter and cut back and forth between other scenes, to be clear though I read the web novel version, the light novel changed a lot of stuff, moved scenes around, etc.
But yeah, if you read the web novel its pretty clear that the director has a bias.

Edit: I thought of a good way to put it, they basically took a dark fantasy mystery square and shoved it into a circular action adventure fantasy hole.

I figured as much. I legitimately wouldn't be surprised then they cut back on the fight just to get out of animating more of it and probably would have cut it out entirely if they wanted to and just have it be something that happened off screen. But then people would complain more.

Even compared to weaker people around him like Otto he is at best on par, but even Otto has his ability to communicate with animals and control them to an extent. Subaru has some super basic magic, and even his Sloth factor shadow punch ability from one of the last few episodes leaves him exhausted and hurting after a single use.

I usually take the example of Subaru and Rem flying on a huge icicle to fight the whale as an example of being a bit ridiculous when put into the context of being powerless.

Also my avatar got changed to Taiga from Toradora for some reason? Don't know if I wad hacked or a mod decided it's funny. Not a bad choice anyways.

It's april 1st so they're pulling a temporary prank. Considering how hard I've seen people complaining about anime pfps it's a good choice.

At least IMO you got lucky, could've ended up with an edgelord.

They really captured how gay and edgy these anime pfps can get. Can't say they didn't do their homework. My pfp looks like one of those ones eboys have on Discord.

Quite content with a Bungo Stray Dogs avatar tbh, could have ended up with far worse.

In other news I decided to re-evaluate what I thought about Charlotte and honestly, my thoughts on it haven't changed all that much even after looking into it further.

Amazing OP with a really solid first few episodes but completely drops the ball with both the pacing and the plot by the time the second half kicks in, the last few episodes in particular are so riddled with plot holes it just left me feeling empty at what wasted potential there was.

It could have been an 8.5 or even a 9 but the last half was so insulting that it drops it all the way to a 5.5 or 6.
 
I'd get into Fate since the battles look good but it sounds like such a hassle. So many different versions of the story and apparently some don't adapt the story completely or correctly. Even the source VN has multiple versions with content removed or added.

Honestly fate zero is the best in my opinion, I like all the characters from Grand Order but the drop rates and grinding required for the mobile game are atrocious even for a freemium game
