If I ever return to Zombieland Saga, it's only because of the producer.

So I recently got to watching Zombie Land: Saga. I've heard good things about it but never got around to watching it. Because the second season is on it's way I thought now was a good time.

I liked it.

The series was kind of like a parody of idol anime. Making fun of some of the tropes but not being mean to it either. I found the overall story of bringing the girls back to life interesting especially since their from different years. While people like Sakura and Ai are similar due to them being the same age and dying around the same time others like Junko are different. She was from an era where everyone worked alone and there was no social media no she has a hard time adapting as expected. At first I hated how Sakura and Ai died in the same year and saw it was wasted potential that they an be from different eras. But once it was revealed why I was okay with it.

All their deaths are rather tragic. Sakura is hit by a bus. Ai is struck by lighting. Junko is in a plane crash and is torn to shreds. Saki drives off a cliff. Lily has a heart attack. We never learn how Yugiri and Tae die. The reveal that Lily is transgender seemed weird. It just seemed out of nowhere. At least it's not shoved in are faces and is quickly looked over. They did handle it better than Assigned Male would.

The CGI dancing scenes can be distracting. I feel like I'm watching an add for Miku. The first time it happens it takes some time to get used too. It gets better over time but it's till sometimes awkward.

I liked a lot of the comedy. Some of the jokes got real chuckles out of being. I liked the chicken commercial and any time the girls bodies came apart in front of people. Kotaro is also a good laugh with how crazy he is.

It's never explained how Kotaro brought them back though or fully why he did. We do find out that he was once a
classmate of Sakura's who seemed to have a crash on her. so he brought her back to live her dream
. His plan seems badly planed though. Surely people will start to recognize the girls especially Ai, Lily, and even Junko. Ai died 10 years ago and Lily 7 so you'd think fans would see it. There would probably be videos of Ai, Lily, and maybe Junko all over the internet. Family and friends would also recognize Sakura and Saki. There was
Lily's father and Sakis friend but they quickly pushed it off as them just being look a likes. The reporter guy seems to be the only one who's catching on.
maybe it will become an issue in season 2. Even if they weren't found out at first people would start to question why they aren't aging at one point.

Overall I enjoyed it and look forward to season 2.

I'm definitely enjoying the manga a lot more than the anime. With 99% of the manga focused solely on her, Kumoko and her trials are far more fleshed out. It's also a bit more comedic than the anime.

I would say that a few of the characters they cite actually go beyond being traps to being transgender, but talking about that is just painful.
 
I didn't care for Zombieland Saga and I don't know why its any more popular than your other typical idol shows.
It didn't feel satirical enough other than the first couple of episodes and they also didn't play either the zombie aspect or the different time eras of the main characters up enough for my tastes. The music after the third episode was generic and forgettable and the cgi wasn't all that great either.
Its a gimmicky tourism ad, I'll watch s2 for more producer though.

I found the concept unique enough to make it a fun idol show to watch, helped that the cast was fun to follow. Like how it used the tropes of idol shows and played with them due to the main characters being dead.

It was nothing groundbreaking, most shows aren't, but it was a lot of fun to watch and was an actually anime original that didn't shit the bed. Anime originals that manage to stick the landing are a lot more memorable to people than a bog standard adaption because you can actually have weekly discussion where no one knows what's going to happen next and bounce off ideas, I'd even extend it to anime original series that shit the bed since the fallout can be hilarious.

I'd rate it LN>Manga>Anime. Kumoko is about as silly in all 3 versions but you are gonna miss out on some motivations that the anime doesn't have time to cover and one of the fights was changed in a way I don't quite understand unless it was for budget reasons. Anime watchers did get a surprising amount of info from Taboo though compared to the LN and especially the manga which I find kinda funny.

The human parts are kinda boring (Ronandt is based though) because of those reasons, but yeah they are important to help establish the timeline of events that happen with Kumoko and the rest of the world, so I think the manga skipping over so much of it is gonna bite it in the ass at some point. And the latest LN has made me reconsider my stance on Julius and it makes me wish he stayed the hero instead of Shun
 
Well I watched the entirety of the Dota anime and I thought it was pretty good. I never played the games so for how accurate it is with the lore I have no idea. But it seems to be better than whatever was done to Dragon's Dogma and maybe to the level of Castlevania.
 
So I FINALLY started gundam 0079.
I might have a whole laundry list of animes to watch, but right now i'm on episode 3 and having fun with this anime. I went with the dub and I don't regret it. I wasn't expecting Light Yagami (Amaro) to roll the fuck in and when Char came in? LORDY.
I did a quick search and lo and behold the X-men evolution cast was back at it again, so at this point i'm just convinced anything dubbed in the mid 00's has SOMEBODY from that show at this point. (Btw X-men Evolution is a pretty damn good show, Not an anime, but a good show.)
I know I'm super in the beginning but like damn I was not expecting Gundam to be this interesting right off the bat tbh.

I'm also exited to try Zeta Gundam when I get around so it because I found a boat load of Char memes some channel was doing and I can't stop watching them for laughs.
 
This trans talk reminds me of something that happened to Vinland Saga
Just to clarify I haven't read what happens since I dropped it a few chapters earlier because A: they skipped Constantinople and B; the arc was looking like another farm arc which while I defended, I can see was probably a pain in the ass to read monthly (and the Baltic war kinda burned me out). So I don't if this is/was /a/ over reacting or not.
But from what I can gather from secondary and tertiary discussions, Thorkell had a son at some point and the mother didn't want him to constantly harassed to go to war, fight duels, etc just for being Thorkell's son so she raised him as a daughter. And TLDR kids mind was kinda messed up and puberty hit like a brick.
I was gonna pick it back up once it gets near the end since I did enjoy re reading some parts in one sitting rather then a monthly drip, but now if I do it'll probably just be to see what kind of trainwreck happened if I even pick it back up.

It's even worse, this actually mostly did start from ani-twitter not knowing what an anime trap is (they still don't). But the fuel to the fire was Sakura wearing socks that that looked like the trans pride flag. Which people thought of as a hint.

I'd pick it up if they finally got rid of the obnoxious hunter chick that does nothing but complain. Can't forgive skipping Constantinople though.
I don't most people think Farmland was really all that bad, but its funny to add "fucking farming" when complaining about it. However, it's a bit of a slog after part one.

It's mostly played for laughs in vinland saga. Tr*annies being Tr*annies are, of course, desperate to use Thorkell as affirmation that their mental disease isn't a mental disease, but Thorkell isn't a tr*nny; he's essentially this universe's equivalent of a John Money victim but with a less fucked up origin story.
