So sony's purchase of crunchyroll has been delayed and might get blocked because of a new antitrust review from the DoJ.
Don't know anything about antitrust laws so not gonna say if a review will do much besides the mentioned delay.

I have been reading the "Goblin Slayer Side story: Year One" manga.

And it is actually pretty good. The art is great and it is nice to see how he came to be the adventurer known as goblin slayer and learn all he knows.

Also shows how he met all the characters he already knows in the main Goblin Slayer story.

Pretty impressed to be honest.

When I first heard about it I was hoping it'd focus on his training with his Rhea mentor, the Burglar, but I ended up enjoying it for what it is. Also think it probably should've ended after he gained the Goblin Slayer moniker but it's remained enjoyable enough to keep up with.

Yeah, I agree. It really just shows flashbacks to his training. Would be nice to see at least a couple chapters devoted to the training he received from Rhea.

What about the Aniplex deal?

What about the Aniplex deal?
Don't know, most of the sites that are reporting it link back to the information as the initial source but the article is only partially readable for non-members.

But from what I can gather that's partly readable and looking at other sites reporting, the probe is only to determine if Sony will have dominance in the anime-streaming market and be able to limit the options studios have to distribute shows in the U.S. No mention of the aniplex being involved aside from ANN mentionining the deal that happened in 2019 with funimation, madmen, and Wakanim.

So I recently got to watching Zombie Land: Saga. I've heard good things about it but never got around to watching it. Because the second season is on it's way I thought now was a good time.

I liked it.

The series was kind of like a parody of idol anime. Making fun of some of the tropes but not being mean to it either. I found the overall story of bringing the girls back to life interesting especially since their from different years. While people like Sakura and Ai are similar due to them being the same age and dying around the same time others like Junko are different. She was from an era where everyone worked alone and there was no social media no she has a hard time adapting as expected. At first I hated how Sakura and Ai died in the same year and saw it was wasted potential that they an be from different eras. But once it was revealed why I was okay with it.

All their deaths are rather tragic. Sakura is hit by a bus. Ai is struck by lighting. Junko is in a plane crash and is torn to shreds. Saki drives off a cliff. Lily has a heart attack. We never learn how Yugiri and Tae die. The reveal that Lily is transgender seemed weird. It just seemed out of nowhere. At least it's not shoved in are faces and is quickly looked over. They did handle it better than Assigned Male would.

The CGI dancing scenes can be distracting. I feel like I'm watching an add for Miku. The first time it happens it takes some time to get used too. It gets better over time but it's till sometimes awkward.

I liked a lot of the comedy. Some of the jokes got real chuckles out of being. I liked the chicken commercial and any time the girls bodies came apart in front of people. Kotaro is also a good laugh with how crazy he is.

It's never explained how Kotaro brought them back though or fully why he did. We do find out that he was once a
classmate of Sakura's who seemed to have a crash on her. so he brought her back to live her dream
. His plan seems badly planed though. Surely people will start to recognize the girls especially Ai, Lily, and even Junko. Ai died 10 years ago and Lily 7 so you'd think fans would see it. There would probably be videos of Ai, Lily, and maybe Junko all over the internet. Family and friends would also recognize Sakura and Saki. There was
Lily's father and Sakis friend but they quickly pushed it off as them just being look a likes. The reporter guy seems to be the only one who's catching on.
maybe it will become an issue in season 2. Even if they weren't found out at first people would start to question why they aren't aging at one point.

Overall I enjoyed it and look forward to season 2.

Lucky Star referenced AIR, but the dub said something else in its place? Weird.
I discovered that Air is owned by Funimation or something instead of Bang Zoom so that explains it.

Wonder Egg.....I read spoilers out of boredom and is it true her friends die?

I've been following it, so far here's the things you got to know -- Neiru is a fake human based on research by the two dummies, who created a murderous daughter named Frill. She is the one responsible for all the suicides up to this point and has two agents that kill two of the leads' pet reptiles, sending one, Momoe, into a suicidal depression and the other, Rika, into anger. Far as I can tell, I don't know if they'll be killed, or even if the agents or Frill have plans to kill them directly.

If you got the spoilers from /a/, then it's probably bullshit since they were claiming Rika died when she very clearly didn't. And it's obvious no one on the production staff is going to be leaking anything to the internet.

That whole situation was weird. Lily never denied that she was born male and named Masao. His that his father was happy with his wanting to be a crossdressing idol, but the fact that puberty literally killed him became this whole trans thing. He's dead, so he's happy being reanimated and is going by Lily now. Not that he wants to be trans or a woman, but you know how certain anime fans see a guy in a dress and claim "omg anime said trans rights!" It reminds me when people were arguing that Kei from Moyasimon was trans just because he liked to dress up in gothic lolita drag.

This is why I assumed it was a trans thing because the reason behind the heart attack seemed to be growing facial hair, implying that male puberty was a source of stress. Though that being said I also remember seeing an artbook scan on /a/ where the japanese text said lily was a boy so yeah, I dunno.

It feels like he was intended to be a trap like any other but then someone came in and said no do the tranny thing no keep the trap no do this do that and it became a confusing mess

I lost interest in it since from that point on it made discussions on it a minefield or a ticking time bomb till someone mentions it, not sure if I'll even see season 2

He says in show he wanted to stay 'cute' forever so I guess seeing the facial hair gave the final shock of realising his 'cute' days were numbered. Didn't seem to be anything more than the usual trap tropes.
His death was weird, if only for tonal dissonance. It's played for comedy (as it is fairly funny) like Sakura's death, but the rest of his episode is pretty somber in tone

I've been reading "So I'm a Spider, So What?" and Kumoko is a pretty great character and watching her struggle her way through the caves is fun to watch. A lot of the humans are boring though so the story tends to turn into a bit of slog when it switches to them.

The LN hasn't even really gone over his Burglar training days, so don't expect to see anything in the manga.

It did come across as a joke, but some people took it seriously. Reminds me of Grell from Black Butler calling himself a "girl" despite being flamboyantly gay. The ani-troon crowd even turned Lily into some anti-terf meme. 1 80oWb_VBySaQIup7nitcDA.png

Is the light novel/manga better than the anime? I liked the first episode and how energetic and silly Kumoko is.

Are people really still going on about Wonder Egg Priority and the trap?

Jesus people it was just a trap character who hit puberty saw he was growing facial and died from the shock of realizing he can't be cute forever.

Pretty sure it was supposed to be a comical death.

Japan is also a conservative and nationalistic country. You really think they are gonna put trans rights shit in their anime?

I can't say whether it's better in an objective sense but the manga cuts out the segments with the human kids while the anime is an adaptation of the light novel which is why the anime does have the human kid segments. At first I thought the human parts were boring cause it's closer to the same old isekai shit you see everywhere, but at this point I understand how it fits in with the cave segments and I don't mind it anymore.

Yeah the trans thing never really convinced me (since the guy was more focused on his stage personality than the concept of femininity) and it's pretty maddening that a good show is specifically known for troons getting their mouth wet over an underage characters' gender rather than quality.

It should be more known about having the most metal death for an idol.
