Why the fuck is Crunchyroll still paying celebrities to make reaction videos to watching anime?

I just want them to start heavily promoting Fate like their corporate masters are intending so I can watch shit really hit the fan.
Why are you surprised, Crunchyroll has done exactly one competent thing with it's money (throwing it at the people who made Tower of God) and nothing else.

Yeah it’s gonna be down for a few weeks. Need to figure out a good place to read for now cause I jumped ship from mangarocks for mangandex year ago and have all my bookmarks on dex now.
Thank christ I manually saved my place on my list by saving the html files when all the sites went down a bit back, so I have every chapter I left off on ready to migrate.

I also bookmarked interesting ones I hadn't read yet, so I won't even have get to that point, I'll just keep reading my backlog on the dex scrapers, which I prefer anyway since the pages all load at once and I can just scroll through each chapter which is cozy af on a tv.

At least some of the scanners have discord so I can keep updated on their scans but gonna Be a bitch to keep updated on the ones I don’t remember.
For once I'm glad I'm into korean webtoons since Batoto is still kicking and has a lot of them there. I don't have the energy to join a bunch of different discords to follow releases so I'm probably just going to take a break from most releases until it comes back up and I'll have a bunch of chapters to enjoy. Maybe I'll actually read through some of the physical releases I've bought over the years and haven't read, they should last me a bit.

Good thing I have spring break starting Friday. A whole week to dedicate to Gudam, fixing my life, and crafting.
Finally one last question, what the hell is Gundam-San? It looks like a hyper SD (super deformed) show and I'm curious about it esp since I enjoy stuff like Rock Lee and his Ninja Pals, and Chibi Sasuke's Sharingan Legend. Is Gundam-San worth it? But once again thank you lovely kiwis for helping a gal out in navigating thru how to start Gundam this'll be a interesting ride!

I did check out some random clips for fun about the old anime for Gundam and I'm a bit hyped. I laughed my ass off on some clips, but I got a soft spot for some 90's dubs, and that good ol 70's-80's anime esp since my friend and I watch Captain Harlock and Cutie Honey once in a while. Old animation is where it's at sometimes, and honestly gives my eyes a break from some of the more hyper pastel color'd stuff they've been churnin out recently.

Gundam-san is basically a parody series that riffs on the original series that can get pretty absurd, so it'd require watching the original series to enjoy. I've only read some of the manga the show is based on and I had fun with it, but that's because I've already seen the original series so I got the jokes or jabs.

Besides the parody there was also a subplot surround the character Captain Zaku that I've no idea if it made it into the anime, was one of my favorite sections.

Just finished Kino's Journey (2003), loved it. I heard there was a 2017 version though, is that one worth watching after the movies or should I just skip it?

So recently in the manga Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, a major event occured in which the two main characters
have sex and needless to say, some of the anons over on /a/ were not happy about this.

I loved the original, the new version lacked the atmosphere and bite it had, and the parts that were re-adapted (like the arena) felt nowhere near as good.

I don't understand why they're so upset other than just shitposting. Isn't this what the goal is in a romcom, they get together, start a relationship, and fuck? Why the autism?

Watch it if you got the time or like the novel. They made some odd choices for what stories to adapt but I liked it.

The newer one was more true to the novel in all honesty.

Kino's Journey is a collection of stories and short stories so the tone jumps around absurdly from one to the other - one story could be brutally describing how Master gunned down civilians with a grenade truck and how this was good for the country while another could be "lol he has an apple on his head". The first anime had more of the former stories and did a good job expanding many of the stories they went into (for example in the novel there wasn't any backstory for the Land that Made Up Customs or whatever it was called. They where just pulling a prank and the punchline was a picture of the Swordsman and his Dog with apples on their head. He loves this gag so much its a central in the parody spinoff). The second anime gets a little bit into the darker stories (like with Photo), but mostly sticks to the lighter hearted ones and the darker stories it does pick up tend to be less gory and graphic in its violence.

They also picked out some of the longer stories like both the moving nations without really giving them the same time to develop the novel did, so you lose the impact of things like Ti's homeland getting destroyed since you only give it an episode when it had two decently long chapters in the book (IIRC) where they go into detail about how the people live and get attached to them.

As a positive to the second anime they go into a couple of the Master and Shizu's stories, which the first anime misses out on. The novel would occasionally have stories with these characters as the protagonist to give a different prospective than Kino's neutrality (Shizu was a heroic character who tried to help everyone and often made things worse, Master was more mercenary and criminal but often made things better anyway). Photo had basically all her stories in the anime too but she's not nearly as big a character as those two are.

Their pure waifu would never even so much as hold hands with a boy, she's too pure for that. Sex is right out. It ruins their immersion, since no woman has ever willingly wanted to have sex with them.

I feel the same about people who look at Mushoten and don't like how Rudy's a bit of a horn dog. It's like they've never been ten and suddenly discovered that girls aren't so bad. He gets a harem or something by the end? Good, he's a big damn hero, isn't he? Good guys like to get laid too. Just take the Tenshi option and marry all of them.

I may be biased though, I prefered the Tomoyo ending of Clannad over the sad girl sick with mangaitis. Not every romcom has to be Ah! My Goddess. Poor Bell.

Its just weird, its a romantic comedy where the joke is that the sexual tension between the two characters is through the roof. Its pretty clear from the get go that they'd end up together and that means having sex. Its not like there isn't other romcoms or anime in general that have similiar scenes, but the reception is usually "fucking finally" or "that's neat that the author managed to write it instead of pussying out". But for some reason the response to Kaguya is completely different. I dropped it when it turned into melodrama mush, did the fanbase just get retarded?

Its like going to a strip club and being infuriated that there's boobs everywhere. What else where you expecting? The author's other works make it pretty clear that he wasn't afraid to write things that aren't neccessarily "pure", his other work that's getting released right now had a teenage pregnant idol with an absent father.

I assume the fanbase showed up for the melodrama and the two of them finally banging destroys that. Or something, I'm like you, it was pretty obvious where it was going and it was free of the usual random side character who sweeps in out of nowhere and ruins the main relationship for reasons. No liking that end point is fucking weird, but it could just be /a/ being the pretentious hipster fags that they tend to be. It would be like watching Macross Frontier and being shocked and angry that Sheryl won the triangle, or that Tenshi finally realizes he's the heir to an empire that's down with polygamy, or that when presented with a not self-destructive girl, Shinji picks her, or that the best ending of Fate/Stay Night is the UTW Good Ending where Emiya gets the two girls that matter.

Or better yet, like reading that straight forward couple manga and being shocked that two people who want to bang each other do. A lot. It's fucking weird, but maybe /a/ is having a bad year.

What I find different about Mushoten for me is (in the ln/wn that I read) during those pervy Rudy moments he'd bring up the whole "Woah, this is bad getting turned on when I'm really 40 years old on the inside!" numerous times and it'd weird me out given the age of the characters he'd be doing it towards. It's not a probably that he's a horny kid/teenager, it's the constant reminder that he viewed himself as a middle aged man creeping on very young girls that's the problem. Maybe he chills out later in the series, but it was one of the reasons I dropped the series early on because I was getting creeped out.

That's one of the issues I've sometimes had with isekai where the main character is constantly reminding the audience how actually old they are while being very young on the outside and then engaging in creepy (even sexual activity) with very actually young girls that are mentally children. I feel the same way when the genders are swapped in some of those fujo titles because in both cases it feels like grooming to me.

That's fair, although I generally treat Rudy as a case of arrested development that's being forced to go through the normal cycle of development. He starts a horny middle aged guy, but it seems like as time goes by, it becomes more age appropriate. Sure, it's creepy when he's five, but later? It feels like it's vaguely toned down as he learns to be more than just a loser shut in. Also because everyone expects him to be like Paul and that clearly bothers him. It think you're supposed to be kinda creeped out at first, it's a redemption story at its core, so there has to be something to redeem.

That and he doesn't seem to be interested in grooming the girls around him. He's not being a pedo, he's just developmentally stunted and he has to go about making mistakes so he can learn from them. At least in the anime it feels a bit like he talks less about the age thing as he physically gets older and shit gets real.

Finally caught up with Season 2 of Konosuba. Liked the first half, second half not so much (though it may just be because I found the cultists just as annoying and grating as the characters did).

I did watch the dub for this season because I had it on while doing some other stuff.. and man is Megumin miscast, her English VA sounds way too mature. Other than that and some occasional cringey “hip” translations, the dub’s not bad.
Honestly out of everyone Megumin is the only one that really sticks out in terms of the dub, it's not that the actress does a bad job, it's just that her voice doesn't seem suited for that type of character.

Her actress voiced Ryuko in Kill la Kill and it's quite surprising hearing the difference in quality imo.

Aggressive tomboy does not a chuunibyou brat make.
her EXPLOOOOOOSION is a disappointment
