Honestly I'm no so sure, I mean Jojo became mainstream to those people and nothing happened.

IIRC we're even supposed to get the Emiya Family in the west around the time of the Extra remaster, it may be an instance where it's a large enough property where certain groups will gravitate towards specific shows and games.

The thing with Fate though is that there are gender-flipped versions of famous historical figures and very feminine male characters along with many sexual stuff in certain installments. Jojo does not really have that much.

Then again nothing could happen for all we know, but my cynicism in people is pretty high sometimes.

The Genderflipped stuff may cancel out any sexism because then you have tumblrs confused about what's better or worse, replacing men with women or women looking sexy.

So I finally sat my ADHD ass down and watched an anime I've been wanting to watch for about a decade, Attack on Titan. I'm completely caught up and am watching the new episodes as they air on Funimation. Here's the thing...I liked it enough to keep watching it, it kept me intrigued...but I don't see it as God tier like I was sworn it was. Should I try the manga or has the unbelievable hype just jaded me? 3rd option is I'm a faggot.

Yeah that line also got me confused as I'm only aware of manga split my demographics, best guess is that DeepL made a mess of whatever the guy was saying. They seem to just lump all kids together under the Kodomo tag, split by gender of course, so by age might be more on the end user assigning certain "best ages" for getting someone into reading a specific title. Some parents are more proactive in getting their kids into anime/manga, heard of things like Precure/Kamen Rider moms that enjoy said series and get their kids into those shows to spread the enjoyment. Creates a shared interest they can bond over.

Reading levels at an early age are definitely a blocker for having targeted ages since each person learns at a difference pace.

I'm one of those people that watched the first season due to the insane hype and thought it was fine but not my cup of tea. I still don't understand the insane hype where I see it constantly recommended to anyone asking for a series to watch regardless of what kind of shows the person actually asked for. I'd lean towards the ridiculous hype building up expectations that weren't realistic to ever reach.

Attack on Titan is one of those cases where the anime makes the manga obsolete. It's generally pretty well-animated (compared to the manga's notoriously shitty art) and fixes some pacing/story issues. We are yet to see if they diverge from the manga's clusterfuck of an incoming ending.
 
I'm on Season 2 of Konosuba, and really liking it. The humor kinda reminds of It's Always Sunny or Archer.

I got into it because of Megumin. A wizard girl obsessed with explosions is a good hook. And her hat is cute.

Darkness is a pervert, but otherwise a good-hearted person.

Aqua is funny because her Cluster B personality always causes the fuckups that get the party in trouble.

I don't like Kazuma, though. He's a selfish, whiny piece of shit.

Megumin seems like the bait that gets people to watch the show. At least when Konosuba first aired, she was plastered across most anime circles, though I doubt that's stopped since then. The nigh bordering-on-ISIS-fanaticism with explosions only helped with it, too. Megumin being the least dickish and out-there of the quartet helps, too; all she has going for her in comparison with the others is that she's on the fast track to an ISIS membership in comparison with Darkness's excessive masochism and Aqua's histrionic personality disorder. The best thing about Kazuma is that he doesn't take shit, though. I can get behind that.
 
Since Konosuba got brought up, more specifically Megumin, I'm reminded of the underrated Animegataris which featured a lot of meta jokes surrounding one of the characters sharing the same VA as her. She was already a literal "running gag" character who would show up randomly doing track, but they also had her do stuff like this:
Later in the series when things started to get weird she also got her own opening parody which features a poorly drawn Yui dressed as Megumin at 0:52:

Personally found it to be a great show full of great meta humour for anime fans and features one of my favourite 3rd acts with how it plays around with the nature of anime. I'm a sucker for shows or media that make reference to stuff like that, ended up also loving the similar show Akiba's Trip which featured stuff like this:
or the even more underappreciated Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku that liked making jokes like this:

Haruhi Suzumiya was pretty much the first thing I thought of when I heard about Kadokawa getting involved with Sony. I still want new seasons of Haruhi Suzumiya even if she'll look a bit different because character designer and chief animation director Shoko Ikeda was amongst those murdered by arsonist Shinji Aoba.

It's kind of a shame how in general Reincarnation Isekai never dwells on the characters upbringing in an interesting way, almost always giving them a boring privileged aristocratic family (and even that without any culture shock, like having slavery, violence and caste system).

Like think on the story of a modern westerner getting reborn in a new world and being essentially helpless while being raised in a culture that he recognises is bad for him and others. Like being raised in a cult.

While subaru is from an aristocratic(mostly) family he is a breath of fresh air in the isekai world.Re zero is great if u can get over subaru simping

The Osomatsu-san S3 threads are all just fujo schlickfests where all they talk about is their gay incest fanfiction instead of shit that actually happens in the show.

The man who voiced the famous pig in an airplane passed away at the age of 86 due to complications from pneumonia.

Syuichiro Moriyama managed to make not only one of my favorite Studio Ghibli movies entertaining, but he even made one of my favorite characters come to life.

His spirit will live on not just with his other works in voice acting, but this was the movie I was gearing up to watch this month. It really must say something when this pig managed to have an impact on how I look and see animation through an imaginative lens.

Hopefully his family can find peace after living such a long and fun life.
 
I recently watched Devilman Crybaby. I tried it out a couple of years ago but didn't get far because I didn't like the art style. I gave it another shot and the art instantly clicked with me. I love the unique look of the show and how it somehow managed to fit perfectly with the graphic violence. And holy hell that ending, that is one of the darkest endings I've ever seen.

Between that and a recent rewatch of Akira (which is still probably my favorite anime movie), I think I finally figured out the anime I like. I love dark and incredibly violent anime that tells a compelling and emotional story. Berserk is another good one that's stuck with me. I've probably mentioned before in this thread that I typically enjoy more dark and adult anime, so it feels nice that I've managed to find at least one other series that I enjoyed.
