Don’t know if this counts as a double post, but but the manga version of Ajin: Demi-Human has ended after nine years.

There were three movies that were made after this anime.
I just caught up on that after giving it over a year off. Damn that manga was a ride, I wish it had a real adaption. It's crazy how early Ajin cuts off as an anime, iirc it was earlier than Akame Ga Kill. Not surprised they didn't wait though, it's so damn slow when you're reading it month to month, but then when you binge entire arcs and fights GOD DAMN what a series. It got a bad rap after the anime was done in CG and the dub wasn't great, but holy shit did I love the protagonist and antagonist. Some of the absolute best action I've ever seen in a manga, this guy knows how to write this particular sort of action like no one else in the industry. The final arc uses just about everything the series has built up mechanically too, and when it was done everybody got a good satisfying sendoff. It feels weird seeing these people just go back to their lives but that's what they wanted from the beginning, they have their regular lives back and now it's done. Except Sato who's gonna be in fucking cryo stasis for 200 years when he's obviously gonna get into some demolition man shit PLEASE make a sequel dude. I'm not sure how popular of an opinion this is but I love the artwork too, even when it's just a no background drawing of a character you can see how much effort he puts into his incredibly clean linework.

Hilariously the author is so burned out he wants to go back to porn, apparently it's much less stressful than being a real deal manga author.

Battle Programmer Shirase seems like the ideal anime for Kiwi Farmers like myself. I’m already learning programming even if the job outlook is slowly going down in the U.S. (outsourcing is no joke!) but after four episodes this anime is pretty interesting.

Most, if not all, of the episodes are only 12 minutes long. After watching four, it’s much different from most short formed anime or OVAs that most anime fans would usually watch. I’m sure most people already know about Welcome to the NHK! but the only drawback is that if this came out before NHK, I don’t think it would get the same type of praise. Both of the MCs are alike in the sense that they are loners, but Shirase still has some family that lives right next to him. One of them just loves computers and computer hacking a lot more, while the other just consumes what is offered online than actually make it.

Either way it’s pretty good so far, and the OP for the song is pretty nice:

This show thanked the fansubbers/bootleggers for watching it. That was an unexpected surprise.
I never thought I'd see the day Studio Ghibli would make an ugly film, but... Holy shit, Earwig and the Witch was so awful.
Was it at least slightly better than Ronja?

I used to think /a/ threads for male-heavy series were more bearable cause they'd have less activity than popular shounen or waifu shows and therefore less baitposting, but god damn are Osomatsu and Sk8 infinity threads unbearable. The former being obvious tumblr/twitter tourists who import tumblr/twitter drama and the latter having at the very least one extremely autistic fujo who keeps spamming gay art and "Is this show about BL sex???"

On the plus side at least the shows themselves are still entertaining.

The dumb executives at Sony double and triple down, they wants to own anime. Knowing what they did with Playstation games.....

One commenter dropped this post worth to quote.
Tetso
I told people Anime would be next on the SJW chopping block, and no one believed me. Look at where we are now. Let's hope the Japanese hate Sony enough to reject whatever amount of money they would bring to the table.

Because people KEEP making it unclear with what Sony intends to do...

I thought Sony were mainly interested in international distribution which could be subject to censorship. I am not sure what companies in Japan they have hands in.

Also Tetso isn't a prophet, many people were saying the exact same thing.

They want to do distribution and will fund anime to a much larger extent than before(arguibly this is probably the biggest move in history when it comes to anime).

They also want games to go on playstation and develop IPs that work with both games and animation.

Also they want to push merch sales and want Fate to be a big huge thing in the states just as much as it's in japan. The ironic thing Sentai Filmworks holds some rights to the some fate series as far as US distribution goes. I don't know if Sony also got them in the crunchyroll buyout, but Sentai stands to gain a lot from any type of rights acquisition and would make more money than they did when they were ADV.

It's really not some nefarious plan to censor anime and I actually think it's going to go in the opposite direction if Fate is frontlining this whole thing. Fate/Extra is already getting a remake, and CCC as well as the other games and VNs seem to be gearing up for an eventual US release.

Demon Slayer is already getting a playstation 5 game and that was the first thing to emerge out of this deal.

Honestly I'm hoping for the impossible and maybe we'll get a real deal new Haruhi season because that's how much money is being thrown at this. It's very interesting to watch this whole ordeal.

Anyone here watch the Redo anime yet? It tonally feels off to me.
I have no interest in watching Redo when there's far better fantasy anime and manga out there. So instead I've been laughing at the edgelords that have been trying to prove that there has been backlash to Redo when there's none. They're trying to be as edgy as possible in liking it when no one cares it's really hilarious to read. This show is trying so hard to be hentai without being an actual hentai and that's all it is.

It isn't translated into English because USA companies won't stock it. It was supposed to be simulcast in Germany, but no one would distribute it.

Despite this, it is the second most watched anime this season in Japan.

So yes there is backlash, yes its edgy, and it is extremely popular.

Redo is disgusting... watched the first 4 episodes and it makes me sick... Anime should be fun...

It's definitely dark. Very dark.

As long as we still get anime on physical media via companies like Sentai Filmworks, I'm not that concerned about Sony unless they make it so that the only anime physical media available in North America is on Japan-priced sets like they already tried with Aniplex USA several years ago.

Haruhi Suzumiya was pretty much the first thing I thought of when I heard about Kadokawa getting involved with Sony. I still want new seasons of Haruhi Suzumiya even if she'll look a bit different because character designer and chief animation director Shoko Ikeda was amongst those murdered by arsonist Shinji Aoba.

IIRC those Aniplex sets fell greatly in price, was Kill la Kill one of those? I've never seen it physically available on sale.

The funimation sets get discounted real quick and older sets tend to go for 5-11 bucks. Demon Slayer is under 50 bucks for both parts now.

Osomatsu is unbearable. All the people at the university anime club I skulk around are obsessed with it.

Finally got time to watch Fire Force season 2. I really like that they're spending more time on world building and plot but these talking animals are starting to lose me really hope they move on quickly.

I wrote why I thought it should be made in this era of pure pussies, but it is unironically bad and should be hentai. I'm no faggot, but the rape scene was genuinely uncomfortable to watch even though I read the manga. And it wasn't like in an 'art' way, it was in a 1970s exploitation way.
