Funny, I've started watching Part 2 recently too. Very goofy and lighthearted. Dub's great too with Richard Epcar as Jigan.
I agree. That's why I was a little thrown off by the tonal shift in Part I. God help me whenever I get to A Woman Called Fujiko Mine.

Speaking of 70s anime, I don't know if it's just me but I like the aesthetic of them. Always makes me feel nostalgic.

Oh, boy. Tell me about it. The film itself was nice but the way the OG characters were handled threw me off a bit.
I think Miyazaki explained the way Lupin was depicted in the film as him being at the end of his career, and maybe that makes it work... but for my money The Mystery of Mamo is the best of the Lupin films. It's everything great about Lupin in a two-hour package.

But how many times has Kryji been at peace with himself and gone back to fucking up his life by gambling?

so, I finally watched assault lily bouquet after the OP got stuck in my head (fucking bandori man), and while it is just mahou shojo with final fantasy mecha swords that also turn into guns fighting huge ass monsters (aptly named HUGE) its kinda fun. it's silly, it's cringy, it's yuri and not what I usually watch, but entertaining af (although I have the suspicion it's gonna end badly). maybe my taste is just that low-tier these days. and it was great to hear karin takahashi and hikaru akao again.

however, after looking it up I was surprised to see it only got two LNs, which are a few years old at that. otoh it got 2 stage plays this year. I'd expected it to be "bigger" to get an anime (but then I can't read moon to deep-dive into the nip sources and I don't touch western communities even with a 10 foot pole).

Mari Okada helped with the series composition, but it'd be considered "edgy" and "problematic" if it wasn't for her. Since she worked on it, the show is lauded for the stunning and brave portrayal of poor little Fujiko.
Lmao. I take it that that incarnation of Lupin is one I should skip then?

Just remember that next month I also promised myself to get Volumes 4-6 of the 20th Century Boys omnibus manga series. The last ninth edition came out a couple of months ago, I believe.
