Unfortunately.

I will admit that I remember reading Boruto a few years back, but I never finished it because I optimistically was hoping that it could eclipse the success that Naruto used to have almost a couple of decades ago. Still, I think I could give it a second chance, since I did hear the anime started to get a little bit better as time went on.

Of course, then again, I haven’t watched Naruto in so long that I almost forgot how much the fanbase for that show had questionably disliked Boruto.

So is there just no reason given for why Ukyo Kodachi isn't involved anymore? I thought people were liking Boruto just fine, what happened to make Kishimoto step in?

@Moguro Fukuzou already mentioned doga kobo, and while they are my favorite studio they sadly are only ever doing one season and then cut the supply off after getting you hooked. but since you watched haruhi what about the rest of kyoani's catalogue? can't go wrong with k-on (everyone is best girl), chuunibyou is masterpiece (rate me), and tamako market is a nice original inoffensive SOL. they also somehow manage to repeatedly drop absolute top grade insert songs and them move on like nothing happened.

also gives me a chance to shill Aharen-san wa Hakarenai

I'd advice to get a fansub. tv subs did the bare minimum and only dialog, and the ED has some nice lore and trivia bits (could also come from the bluray release, not sure, but I doubt it). also usually looks better.
All the way, man. Haruhi had a pretty good run and it's sad that it never got a new season. But hey, with the new LN we can only hope.

Watched a few anime recently, some as recommendations from this thread (no spoilers):

Actually a really solid anime. The fact that it was produced as an anime in 2013, generally before (I think?) the isekai genre blew up, is really impressive. The main characters are all solid and don't really tire me, which tends to happen with a lot of isekai. Despite focusing on 2 girls and 1 boy, there aren't any harem aspects whatsoever. The girl MCs are also developed and not just cutout character tropes, which is a little rare for the genre (but appreciated). The setting is really interesting as well, and the side characters were memorable (Black Rabbit, for instance). Finishing it actually was a little sad since I realized there wasn't a continuation easily available, despite the fact that I wanted to see the story continue. I don't like mechas at all but the singular mecha aspect is not enough to make it unenjoyable for me. Again, very impressive for an isekai to make me seek out any continuation past the anime. 8/10, this anime should be one of the first mentioned when people ask for good isekai.

I certainly enjoyed this, but I don't think it was really that memorable. The setting is a dime a dozen (high school with powerful people and they get into shenanigans yawn) but the actual plot was interesting in that everything is taking place after the OP characters return from getting isekai'd. Also the fact that the female MC isn't the returning hero was also interesting in terms of the genre's standards. There are a lot of...erotic scenes, which while not personally off putting certainly gave it a somewhat weird vibe. I do like that one of the main girls is a lesbian and outed as such when hooking up with another girl, but nobody cares that she's a lesbian. I'm not at all into social justice bullshit in my Japanese cartoons, but this is the way to include LGBT characters without being preachy or virtuous. Otherwise, the narrative is kind of par for the course. I doubt I'll remember specifics in a year. 5/10, wouldn't recommend to someone in-person because of the sexual stuff (I may watch anime, but I'm not a public degenerate).

This was really entertaining for what is essentially just another isekai with a character becoming OP (see: Rising of the Shield Hero, which is conceptually very similar). I like the fact that an entire class is brought over, which gives some interesting dynamics to the plot and characterization. The characters are otherwise fairly standard (Teio is literally the same as Darkness in Konosuba, but less funny), all things considered. I enjoyed it less as the show progressed, since it kind of turned into a harem anime. I decided to continue reading the LN and see where the plot goes (mostly because I wanted to see the MC's asshole/useless classmates react to him more) but it turned even more into a harem isekai story. I'm getting major In Another World with my Smartphone vibes from it—the way in which the MC grows expansively more op from combining powers with a modern tool, the plot being advanced by seeking out hidden places of power, and the growth of the MC's harem (which isn't even really shied away from at a certain point) in which each girl is somehow totally okay with every new girl falling in love with the MC. The LN writing is reminiscent of Overlord, which I really enjoy, but it's not as good in my opinion. The details should be about the world and setting, but they seem more to focus on the characters—most of whom are just female OP women of various shapes and races that want to fuck the MC. I also really dislike the Kaori character, especially when she joins the party. I'll probably continue reading it unless it becomes really dumb. Anime is 6.5/10, but the LNs I think make the story worse as it continues.

I'm watching this now, and though I was never really interested in this genre/setting, I think it's a really solid show. I mean, who doesn't like the Count of Monte Cristo? I'm not a specific fan of the setting, but it works nicely. A little confusing distinguishing all the characters and relations at first, but it's easy to understand who everyone is after a few episodes. Seems to be building up nicely and I don't have a good read on where everything will end up yet, which is good writing I think. So far, 8/10. Will have to see how it ends for a final rating.

I'm not too sure, but making an educated guess, it probably might have to do with him wanting to bring back the great moments that made Naruto special.

Yeah like....

....uh.....that one time when something happened.
Bruh the Sasuke Recovery Mission was top tier. The early interactions with Orochimaru were also legitimately creepy, which is why he's such a good enemy. And when there was still a sense of danger in the show, like in the Land of Waves arc or during the Chuunin Exams, it was pretty good. Yeah, once it turned into various ninjas with different types of super speed, big glowing balls of energy being used at every instant without strategy, monsters/Susanoos fighting all the time, and fighting over who has the prettiest special eyes, it lost some of its luster.

If Boruto were more like this clip, it would feel a lot closer to Naruto and what made that show actually enjoyable.

Thing is, and this is only my opinion of course, under all the big fat elf titties lies a piece of work that is some how quite fresh despite how cliche the setup is and simultaniously genuinely pretty funny, in fact it even raised a few laughs from my wife when she read it.
